Horrible driver and service. He picked us up from the airport and as he started driving, he began spraying something on his phone and stealing wheel simultaneoysly as he is pulling out of a congested area on to the freeway. He was using one thumb to maneuver the steering wheel. I had two kids in the car with me and asked him to keep his hands on the wheel. He got offended and then put his other arm up on the passenger side head rest the entire drive so I couldn't see his badge number. He was driving poorly the whole trip. I called the green cab SF number to report this and after being on hold for about 10 minutes, the call was dropped. Redialed and same thing - no one picks up and I got disconnected a second time after being on hold! Unacceptable, unsafe, and not to mention filthy cab! No wonder people prefer Lyft and Uber! I echo all of the other positive reviews about this cab service. Professional, prompt, friendly conversationalist, and they're environmental-friendly. Come on, what more could one ask for in a cab service? I made my reservation for pickup to take me from my hotel back to SFO a few hours in advance of when I needed to leave, and about five minutes before the arranged pickup time I got a phone call from my cab driver informing me that he was parked across the street. A cabbie that's -early-?! Inconceivable! It's a good thing that a friend recommended that I reserve a cab in advance. Apparently it's extremely challenging to flag down a cab in downtown SF during the evening rush hour and on top of that, catch a cabbie willing to go out of the way to SFO. My driver made a similar point of stating that I was quite wise to pre-arrange transportation, because I would have likely had a severe challenge in finding it on the fly. I need to add a star to Green Cab's formerly-measly score. On Saturday night around 6:30 PM, I called Green Cab when Arrow Cab wouldn't pick up (will probably need to reduce their score too!). Here's how the conversations went: Me: Hi, I'd like to order a cab. Green: Where? It will probably be about 10 to 15 minutes. If we are not there in 15, call us back. Me: Grrrr... okay, I hope they can come faster than that! Literally 1.5 minutes later, I hear a honk outside my apartment. I almost didn't go to look because I figured it definitely wasn't a cab. But, then it was a cab! However, it was red and not green... Me: Are you a green cab? Cabbie: Their dispatch system connects to us and I was nearby Me: So you're not a green cab? Are you the cab I called? Cabbie: (totally avoided telling me he's not actually environmentally friendly) Yes, I am your cab. So I was thrilled to get a cab so quickly but fairly confused about the one I got. Had a cab ride early morning (2:30amPST) from the SFO airport that I am not very happy with. The Drive was number 0440. ( I initially took an UBER from my home to SFO on 10/6/17 that cost me $48.00 with tip. Great rate. ) I land at SFO that got delayed due to the fires at 2:17AM PST. The last thing I wanted to worry about was transportation home. Due to the time and location where baggage claim is, the taxi line was right outside the door. I hopped in the first one for I am not able to choose my taxi, they make you go to the front of the line. I get in the Green Cab. I tell the driver my address. I explain you will go 80 E to 24 Walnut Creek Exit to 680 North to Pleasant Hill exit. He said OK and to put it into his iPhone. The directions come up and we are off. Under his breathe he mentioned some kind of fee. I didn't hear what or how much but at this point after a almost 5 hour flight delay, I just wanted to get home. I fall asleep due to the time and wake up with the driver that completely missed the exit off of 80 east. He takes me a roundabout route tacking on more hours and now more pay. So finally get to my home and he totals the bill to be a whopping $272.34 ($145.95 "fare" + 4.00 "extra" + 77.00 "tolls" + $45.39 "tip")!! OUTRAGEOUS. Especially when I took an UBER that only cost me $48 to get there!! How can that be????? My company will not reimburse me for this cost and I am requesting this charge be reduced. Unacceptable. Average cab ride with this distance with 15% tip is closer to $130.96 not $272.34. Unreal! Reconsider this company. I've contacted them 3 times without a response. This just happened at west portal at 330 pm. This cab driver saw me patiently waiting and signaling for a parking space. What does he do? He blocks my space to drop off a fare while holding up traffic, a muni train, me, and multiple cars. He tried to at first barge into the space when a restaurant owner politely yold him I had been waiting for the space. I love these guys. And I love what these guys are doing. It goes beyond the service these guys offer or just being cab drivers. These guys are actively trying to change the world. That was why they started Green Cab. When I first flagged down a Green Cab almost two years agoI hopped in and just started firing away with the questions. I happened to get one of the co-owners of the Green Cab company and he enlightened me. He started it with a couple friends. At the time they only had like 2 or 3 cabs. They were self-proclaimed environmental activists, Kucinich-supporters, trying to get GWB impeached, and holding environmental rallies all around the country. This Green Cab thing sounded like it was a side job. When you hop into a Green Cab, you're not just getting from one place to another, you're getting enlightened by some extremely well-educated guys. Last night, I got into a very in-depth socio-political-environmental-economic discussion about the state of global warming, the effect of China's growth on it, the thawing permafrost in Canada and Alaska, the fragile state of the world's political situation and how things will pan out ...in an effing CAB! I know that hybrids may not be the best for the environmentand that we still have a ways to go to make a change, but it's encouraging to see folks going above and beyond in order to make a noticeable impact in the world and to positively affect those around them in their everyday jobs. Lemme ask you a question, all right? Let's say you're *really* into organic, sustainable, local agriculture. You never shop for eggplants, but one day you need one, so you head to the only store in town that sells the organic-et-al variety. Except when you get there, you find that they're mushy as cottage cheese, covered with mold, and exuding a rotting stench. Ordinarily, you might change your recipe but today you absolutely gotta have an eggplant, and down the aisle there's a nice-looking specimen of the un-PC variety... Buy the edible eggplant, people -- Green Cab ain't food. I called these guys on a Saturday morning, 7am. I asked how long the wait was for a cab to the airport. The guy starts interrogating me: GC: Why? Did you already call another place? You called another company, right? ME: Uh, no, you guys are the first I called. It's just I'm in a hurry, so I want to know how long. GC: All right, fine. It should be about fifteen minutes. Well, okay. I told the guy okay. But I was running late, so I called Arrow to see if they could do it faster, and they could. Now at this point, a lot of people would just take the second cab and screw the first company entirely. I confirmed this with my Arrow driver, actually -- he said it happens all the time. Being the nice guy I am, tho, I don't think that's cool, so I called GC back to do the courtesy of letting them know. I even spent $1.75 to do it, 'cause I had to call directory assistance to get their number. You know what the dispatcher said to me? "You're a f'ing a'hole," and hung up. Ever had a proprietor call you an f'ing a'hole, when you haven't done a thing to deserve it? Doesn't he know that's bad for business? Hybrid's are most excellent, and if I bought a car I'd strongly consider one, but I take a cab maybe twice a year. The dispatcher was a rude and just refused to hear what I had to say. The story goes, I call Yellow cabs to go to the airport. I say I need a van for 4 people and 4 suit cases. I wait.. They repeatedly send the wrong 4 seater twice. I call and cancel. Call green cabs. I tell him I am running late and need a cab now. Then asks if I have called another service I say yes. He says " cant send you the cab" and hangs up. I call again and tell him that yellow cabs have sent the wrong cab twice and I have cancelled them. He replies "Call yellow cabs they will send you the right one. I am not going to send a cab to only find you gone." I tell again that they sent the wrong cab and I canceled the service and I need a cab immediately to get to the airport. He still refuses to understand the predicament and rudely yells at me saying he is not going to send a cab ....to find me gone. He was rude, infuriating and refused to listen to what I had to say. Apart from panicking about getting the airport on time .. It was infuriating getting yelled at. Being rude to customers is not the way to go. I asked him to drive just a block from my apt to get cash at an ATM but instead he said "Don't worry...it's okay!" with a smile! So I gave him the $8 I had in my purse. Holy shit! Okay... First I made a reservation on the Webcabby web site. It started sending me errors back. Stupid .asp web sites. Anyway, the e-mail I received in confirmation stated there was a reservation number I could reference, but when I checked it on the site it said no reservation. So I assumed it didn't work. I even sent in a support ticket in regard sto the issue. So that day I call into Green Cab, it got the most decent reviews out of all the cab companies it seemed. The guy seemed pleasant enough, he just stated, "We don't do reservations or call aheads. Call 10 minutes before you need the cab at your complex." *click* - I thought, okay he must be busy...I'm sure being a dispatcher is crazy especially during rush hour. So whatever - I brushed it off. The next morning I called 10 minutes before I needed the cab (just as I was instructed to do the night prior). The guy was huffy then he starts typing and says, "Is this Sara? Um you do realize you sent in a reservation for such and such time." I said "Oh it sent me back errors and the confirmation number didn't work so I didn't think it made the reservation." He gets TICKED and says "WELL! Do you want it NOW?! OR WHAT?!" He sounded like he was on the verge of screaming at me. Wow. I've never been treated so rudely in my life. I said, "Now please." His response was, "K FINE, be outside!" and hung up on me. The cab driver on the other hand was very polite. We actually took a short cut to a different place closer to where I needed to go. I'll probably wave a Green Cab again, but I'll never use their dispatching service. EVER. -Update- Someone just informed me that SF Green Cab outsources their dispatching. I thanked the person for the heads up but said that I'm sticking with my negative reviews. Outsourced or not, the dispatchers are losing customers for this cab company and the latter needs to know it. -End of Update- I will never use SF Green Cab again. I'm usually pretty forgiving, even overly apologetic for others' rudeness, so the fact that I'm writing a negative review on Yelp indicates how upset I am. I've used SF Green Cab before and have always been struck by the more-than-normal rudeness of the dispatchers. They are surly, curt and generally unpleasant to speak with but the fact that the drivers are nice and that the cabs are clean and green somewhat made up for the poor customer service of the dispatchers. Not anymore. I called for a cab and the dispatcher mumbled for my address. I had barely finished giving it to him when he cut me off and mumbled for my phone number. Enter Inexcusably Rude Moment #1. I was in the middle of giving my phone number when he cut me off again, mumbled something incoherent and hung up on me. I called right back, of course. Was a cab coming or not?! The second dispatcher spoke a little more distinctly but his tone was no less surly. I explained the situation and said that Dispatcher 1 had hung up on me and that I wasn't even sure if a cab was on its way. I told Dispatcher 2 that I thought it extremely rude that Dispatcher 1 had cut me off and hung up on me. Enter Inexcusably Rude Moment 2. Dispatcher 2 said in his surly tone, "Well, we're extremely busy so it wasn't rude." Yeah, you read that right. He tried to tell me that a cab would be on its way but this time I cut him off and told him to forget it, that I would be calling a different cab company. Then I hung up on him. Really, SF Green Cab? It's ok to hang up on a customer because you're really busy? You need to re-train your dispatchers because you're losing customers through them. Mine isn't the first review that has one-starred this business because of rudeness. I called Luxor (because SF Yellow Cab isn't much better), had a cab in five minutes and the driver was so pleasant (even offering me a fare reduction if I thought the traffic lights were too long) that I gave him a 35% tip. Reviewing them next. -1 star for cabbies that lie about being able to find my house (in the Mission, on a main thoroughfare, NOT hard to find) and cabbies that YELL AT ME. Yup. You are willing to pick up random strangers on the side of the road (which he did when I got out of the cab), NOT knowing where THEY are going, but when I offer to cabshare with two middle-aged ladies, it was a huge crisis? Fuck you dude. No tip for a rude asshole. -1 star for NOT SHOWING UP NUMEROUS TIMES. My last experience was the other night (Saturday night). I called them at 5:30p and ordered the cab. I decided that it was a fairly nice night, so I would sit outside and wait on the steps. I was moving two small boxes and a backpack to my bf's house. I received a call about 20min later telling to come outside and I would see the cab. I got off the steps and stepped out of the gate to the sidewalk. I stood there with my stuff, looking for a cab that was no where to be seen. I thought that perhaps they were making their way to the house and were at the stoplight or something, so I waited 15min and still no cab. I even tried calling the cabbie back but he didn't pick up. I called the dispatcher and they tried telling me that I ordered through the website and someone tried calling me but I didn't pick up. I corrected them saying NO, I ordered by phone and a cabbie actually called me saying they were here and they weren't. Then the dispatcher said that the cabbie then said that he couldn't find the place and asked if I was at an actual house or a business. Needless to say, the dispatcher said that I was at the top of the list and if a cab didn't show up in 5 minutes to call him back. I decided to wait another 15 minutes and when no one showed up or called, I ended up having to get a ride with a roommate's friend. I don't normally write crappy reviews, but this was just ridiculous. Why bother reviewing a cab company? Honesty. SF was the last stop on a long trip through California. We took a cab from the Wharf to our hotel and realized the next morning we'd left out camera with all of the trip pics in the cab. Fortunately the green and white cabs only belong to green cab, so tracking down the phone number only took a couple minutes. i called, described the camera and some of the recent pics and the very nice operator confirmed she had it. She had a driver deliver the camera to where I was for the price of the fair - $16. What a deal, what a great company. Thanks to the honest driver and the nice operator. The world's rudest dispatcher was so rude that I told him to forget it. A few minutes later, my home phone rang. Immediately suspicious, I answered the phone, expecting the worst, and it was indeed the rude male dispatcher, pretending to be confused about why I booked on the website instead of by phone. Just like good doctors having competent staff members, if Green Cabs were a good business, they would not tolerate rude dispatchers nor a dispatching company that hires them. With all of the complaints already on Yelp about a rude male dispatcher(s), and the fact that so many polite and intelligent workers are looking for work, the fact that nothing has been done makes Green Cabs look bad. WOW...finally a cab company in SF that gets it right. I took a Green Cab from SFO back to the city this morning. The hybrid car was spotless and very comfortable - a huge step up from the old, stinky Yellow Cabs with the screeching breaks with all four windows permanently rolled down to air out the smoke smell. My super friendly, chatty driver was one of the owners of the company. He described their unique, eco-friendly business model that is poised to succeed as the other cab companies in town buckle under the weight of increasing gas prices. Last Saturday, I took Green Cab from the Mission to Inner Richmond. The guy that picked me up was awesome, and it was a very enjoyable cab ride. They got to my apartment within 10 minutes and when I got to my friend's place, the guy even waited to make sure I got into her apartment building safely. Super nice and the whole experience made me a really big fan of Green Cab... until last night (Friday). Friday night at around 7, I called Green Cab. They said it was the perfect time to call because it was before the Friday night rush and that they would be at my apartment in 5-25 minutes. I waited for 40, then I finally called them back. The guy manning the phone sounded surprised that a cab hadn't shown up yet and refreshed my address on the list, calling for a new cab to come pick me up. He told me it would be there within 7-8 minutes. I waited for 15, then I called again. The guy was super apologetic which was great, except for the fact that I had almost been waiting for an hour for a cab, so he called me a new one. After another 10 minutes and still no cab, I ended up calling Arrow Checker. They got there within 5 minutes without any issues. Long story short, I am never using Green Cab again. I cannot believe that the guy sent three different cabs and none of them ever showed up... That's ridiculous. No thank you! read more

I've had a couple good experiences with Green Cab, but if it's ever a peak time, forget it. For example, I tried to get a cab last Friday afternoon to pick me up at my apartment. They told me to call at 5:10 PM for a 5:30 pickup as it would be about 20 minutes for a cab at that time, which I did. I gave it until 5:40 before I called to inquire about my cab. I was told, "we're trying to get someone over there". I called again at nearly 6:00 PM and was told, "It's Friday night". I ended up catching another random cab from a different company and made it to my train with 1 minute to spare (1 hour and 45 minutes after my initial call). I never even got a call from SF Green Cab that night. That was the last time I'll call them when I need to be anywhere by a certain time. I should also mention that the man who answered the phone was quite rude. I know they're busy and need very basic info from you to keep things moving, but an ounce of customer service would have made the experience a little less awful. read more

After a long day of travel, work, and lugging baggage, I was ready to high tail it home. Green Cab came to my rescue~ I was reeling from an especially rude encounter with a Yellow Cab driver a moment before - the guy signaled, came out to help put my suitcase in the trunk, and as soon as he heard my destination (in SF), he said, 'it's too much of my time, SHEESH!' and then promptly took off. I would've understood if he simply said 'sorry, it's too far out of my way.' But instead, that added 'sheesh!' was plain rude. Back to my Green Cab review... So, within 5 minutes, my Knight in Shining Green came to the rescue. I was hoping not to get a repeat reaction, and instead I got the total opposite. This man was sooo kind to me. When I (wishfully) told him I wanted to go to the Avenues, he politely suggested a route and asked if that would be okay, or if I'd prefer another route. He didn't make make me feel bad at all. He mentioned that Green Cab has been around for about 9 months, and that they make it a point to have friendly drivers. The cabs are independently owned and, their Hybridness helps the environment. Thumbs up. Throughout the ride, he made friendly conversation, and the cab was clean & relaxing. I was all smiles by the time I got home. Sometimes, the occasional cab might be late. Sometimes, a cab might take a wrong turn or be stuck in traffic and be excessively late. Three tiers above that, there's SF Green Cab. I've seen these cabs arrive around 10-15 minutes late before, so I booked one in advance. That was at 9:30, and I had somewhere to be at 10:10. 30 minutes after my order, no cab was in sight. I had checked in with the dispatcher around every 20 minutes, who assured me that I was "at the top of their list". I'm assuming the people at the bottom of the list have been stranded for life and living off the leather on their shoes, because to be this late is simply a work of art. "A cab can often be stuck in rush hour", I heard as I looked out onto the empty streets. Perhaps I should buy a tank of tortoises, paint my phone number on their side, and enjoy my new job as a taxi dispatcher. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would. Called an hour ahead of time for a car to pick me up for the airport. Got a confirmation callback, and was pleasantly surprised considering they only have 4 cars total. Then, the incredible happened: about 20 minutes before the scheduled time, the driver left a voicemail for me saying she is so sorry that she's going to be 5 minutes late, and she apologized THREE TIMES!!! Turned out she was only one minute late. The ride was very pleasant, the car new and clean. The driver made sure to ask my preference for radio and temperature and was super personable and fun to talk to. She told me how SF Green Cab is trying to really focus on customer service. No shit. When we arrived at SFO, she jumped to my luggage before I could get to it and--get this--GAVE ME A HUG!!! I know this is SF and all, but a freakin' hug from your cab driver, people?!? You've made this jaded New Yorker appreciate a cab ride again.. *sniff* I can't wait for these guys to blow the competition out of the water. read more

For someone who is an infrequent cab hailer in San Francisco, I don't always know where the prime spots are to hail cabs. I have had so many problems with calling cabs that never show up, cabs that pick up other people (and therefore, don't pick up me) along the way and cabs that take 25 minutes to get to my place (c'mon, it's right near the crooked street - not that hard to find). All of my experiences with SF Green Cab have been awesome. They pick me up within 10 minutes of my call (most of the time, it's within 5 minutes). And they ask me my name before picking me up - I'm assuming a best practice to avoid picking up the wrong people. People, if Yellow Cab or Luxor Cabs have left you high and dry, try SF Green Cab. I haven't had a bad experience yet in being picked up quickly and treated with courtesy. read more

I've tried calling them to get my patients a ride home when another (ahem... yellow) doesn't show up at the alotted time. Today, I called and the other company showed up after I cancelled them. The dispatcher told me "next time you do that, cancel the other company first before calling us because it wastes my driver's time and gas if we're already there." understandable, then I stated that I had already cancelled the other company they came anyway. then she went on about something about "taxi karma" and blah blah blah. I tried to explain to her that I called them AFTER I cancelled with the other company. Then she seemed like she was frustrated trying to "explain" to me "taxi karma" and said "Whatever. Thank you" with so much attitude. Green cab, I tried to give you a go, but this is the last time. No longer will I ever call you, especially if you have THAT very RUDE dispatcher. read more

Very ticked off!!! This company stood us up not once, but twice on THE SAME DAY!! The first time we waited over 30 minutes down in Cow Hollow before giving up and finally flagging down another company. The second time (WHY DID I EVEN BOTHER?!) we waited over 60 minutes before calling another company. This company made us very late to our dinner reservations! I thought we would go with them since we did have a good ride with them from the airport, but that's pretty easy since they are just waiting in line and you take whatever is available. WILL NEVER CALL AGAIN! You shouldn't either. read more
