Came here with a friend to see the Gerald Clayton trio. I love the venue because it has multiple bars and spaces to see artists aside from the main auditorium. The performance by the Gerald Clayton trio was superb - very energetic and they paid homage to Theolonius Monk's classics. The staff was friendly and helpful guiding us around the venue as well. My friend has a membership with SFJAZZ so I'm sure I'll join him for another show in the future. read more

This rating is not for SFJAZZ itself the venue and the performance were wonderful. It's specifically about the woman working at will call today. If someone doesn't enjoy working with people or providing good customer service, the front desk is probably not the right place for them. Unfortunately, our interaction with her was extremely unpleasant. She ( black womsn wearing scarf and beanie) was rude in her tone, her demeanor, and in the way she communicated not only to me, but also to my elderly aunt. It was honestly disappointing. What made it stand out even more is that we later met another staff member who was passing out buttons for the kids' show. He was warm, welcoming, and excited to talk about membership and ways to support SFJAZZ. That is the kind of experience that makes you proud to support a San Francisco institution. I'm a local and I genuinely want to support organizations like this, but interactions like the one we had at will call make you second-guess whether you want to give your time and money. And if two of us walked away feeling this way, I'm sure we're not the only ones. Again, the performance and the rest of the experience were great this feedback is only about that one staff interaction. I hope management speaks with her, because the front desk sets the tone for the entire visit, and SFJAZZ deserves to be represented with the same warmth and professionalism that the rest of the team showed. read more

I just attended my first event at SF Jazz to see Chris Botti perform, and it was an incredible experience. The venue is small and intimate, with a beautiful setup that allows you to clearly see the performers no matter where you sit. The seating design is excellent--elevated tiers ensure great views, beyond the floor seating with chairs. Before the event, you can enjoy wine, cocktails, and sodas upstairs and small bites in the lobby area, and you're allowed to bring your drinks in plastic cups into the performance. The atmosphere was fantastic, and transportation was easy--getting an Uber or Lyft to and from the venue was seamless. Parking can be challenging in that area at night. We had such a great time and will definitely return for another performance soon! read more

Went here for the first time last night for the Smartbomb Oakland X SFJAZZ event and I gotta say, it was amazing! Very beautiful venue. I like that it has 2 floors that intersect with the main room with stairs that lead to both. A small room for performances as well on the first floor and a little cafe/restaurant connecting to the venue by the first floor entrance. The acoustics in the venue were great, and the staff was super helpful and polite. I didn't get to snag any food but I did pay about $5 for a pick me up drip coffee from the cafe lol. Parking is a little tough in the area since it's mostly street parking, but I was able to find a row of metered parking spots on Oak street in front of the Conservatory of Music, which is only about a block and a half walk away. Overall, a really great first experience checking this venue out and listening to some music performed by some of my friends! read more

Attended a performance of Kid Koala's "The Storyville Mosquito" in the Miner Auditorium last week, and it was exhilarating. One of the coolest and most amazing experiences I've ever had. An adorable story brought to life and presented to the audience in such a unique way, I could barely hold my excitement. In fact, the heartwarming production filled me with so many emotions, it's hard to describe. The making of the film was interesting and impressive, seeing the creation behind the scenes in real time, and witnessing and hearing such extraordinary musical talent by Kid Koala as well as the trio of musicians on stage. The sound in the auditorium clear and dynamic, great quality just like every other part of the show. The theater and event space intimate, providing a great view from almost any seat in the house. And all of the staff we interacted with at the venue during our visit were professional and helpful. Cocktails being sold in the lobby from B-Side (the restaurant and bar which is actually connected to the SFJAZZ lobby, also serving food and drinks next door). The drink lines were a bit long, but moved comfortably, so it wasn't that bad of a wait. The French 75 was delightful and strong in alcohol, and the seats in the auditorium had drink holders for convenience. After the show, we were thrilled to be able to view some of the puppets and mini sets up close, as well as meet Kid Koala in the lobby. Of the many great acts and performances put on at SFJAZZ, this a good one! read more

I think this is the 1st music venue I've been to in San Francisco that's modern and built after the 2000s. I had middle balcony seats to see Hiromi's Sonicwonder. The venue is a small music venue but this makes it a lot better in terms of acoustics. The sound wasn't overly loud and distorted and I could clearly hear each instrument being played. read more

The jazz center itself is a nice and modern location to visit. There really is not bad seat in the house, which makes it an intimate experience. I went to see Chris Botti, who made the night. Prior to the show, my birthday group went to B-Side, which is a small restaurant for the ticket holders to enjoy. Unfortunately, the hostess was not the most welcoming and seemed as if she did not want to be there. The jazz center often times have volunteers assisting people with their seats. Unfortunately again, I encountered two rude volunteers. What was supposed to be a fun birthday experience was quickly becoming a concerning time with lack of manners and politeness on behalf of the staff. I spoke to the manager, who apologized for the experience. Botti saved the night. I'm not quite sure I would return though, which is sad for someone who loves jazz. read more

If I could, I would give the Box Office staff a 10-star review. The most kind, most flexible and most courteous team I have ever encountered and my family has visited a lot of concert venues in the Bay Area over the past 25 years. When it turned out that my son's High School scheduled his graduation ceremony smack into the exact same time slot and date we wanted to watch a concert at SF Jazz and I scrambled to figure out how to be on two places at the same time, they not only graciously allowed us to reschedule but also upgraded our tickets to better seats to celebrate his academic milestone. This comes on the heels of another rescheduling we had to ask for due to power outage and Transbay tube closure just a few weeks earlier which was handled with equal ease and courtesy. There are a lot of venues who can take an example from SF Jazz in how to make contacting box office a truly joyful experience. read more

My dreams came true when I got to see Hiromi Uehara tickle the piano keys at SFJAZZ! After the show someone said Hiromi exhibits the peak of human performance and it gave me chills because it's so true. Love nearly everything about this place if I have a seat on the main floor, but the mezzanine and balcony are built too vertically, so much so that the position is a distraction. And the ticket prices for the main floor are prohibitively high. read more

The bartender who worked during the April 27th Kronos Quartet was unbelievably rude and aggressive. He verbally berated me and other patrons, many of whom were very elderly, for simply trying to order. This was absolutely repugnant to witness. I have been coming to SFJAZZ throughout my life and will not be returning as long as they continue to employ him. Very disappointing that SFJAZZ associates themselves with a person like that. I will happily change this review if I am notified that he is no longer employed by SFJAZZ. read more

The sound system is excellent. The virtual background was interesting. Of course, not enough women's restroom. Very long line. Great seats wherever, even in the back edge. Can you believe it? Children like 10 years old came. Jake Shimabukuro is the all-time great ukulele virtuoso, so funny, kind, grateful, and he even thanked his friends for coming. He wore warriors t- shirt with Bruce Lee on it. My favorites of his songs are Bohemian Rhapsody, gently sweeping, and Dragon. They sold out his newest album, but they sell the recording from today's show. Interesting. Technology is amazing. read more

We went to SF Jazz to hear Cory Henry Sept. 5, 2025; the bass guitar was so loud we could not hear the Cory Henry or the band mates. We had great seats looking at the band and never heard Mr. Henry play. SF Jazz should be very embarrassed and refund everyone's money for this musical disaster. SF Jazz always has phenomenal Artists that put on just as phenomenal performances. Every seat in the house is a great one- plenty of leg room and space, and the balcony seats swivel with the railing serving as the perfect ledge to keep your wine. The design is minimal and intimate feeling. The bars have a great little wine selection with a select few cocktails available (little set ups on each floor). Albeit the prices and sizes for the pours don't quite balance out, I enjoyed a cup of Schug Pinot during the performance by the inimitable Chris Botti. The sound is pure perfection. Although I love the Artists playing at this venue, I'm disappointed about the space, I though the seating option like the folded chair are not designed for long seating. There is nowhere to put you drink I wanted wine and personal space to move I guess I was idealizing a "Yoshi" or "Bruno's" type of experience. Unfortunately non of it, sure the sound system sounds good and the showcase is amazing, the "metal cage design look from the top at the balcony" made me feel inconfortable some seats up there allow and offer partial look over the band but i couldn't see the drummer.. read more

Good solid jazz venue. Like others said, the balcony's barstools are uncomfortable and very hard to relax in. They really need to replace them with normal seats. In the upper left balcony, you can only see half the stage because the rest is blocked by the rail and people. read more

Still the best venue for jazz and experimental and avant-garde music in the western USA. During Covid, there was still excellent varieties of music to help manage at home while, presenting a healthy safe in person experience. Yes proof of vaccination and IDs are still measured and taken at the door, masks still required inside the venue. While certainly not perfect, always felt safe and was able to get back at it enjoying great live music. Like last night, on a whim went to see Nella without really having a clue who she was and what she was about. Like the couple on a date in front of us, we were pleasantly surprised by this performance. Nella a talented songwriter and artist with a melancholy but powerful voice. She enlightened us with her personal struggle reconciling her passion for Venezuela where she hails and the struggles of her fellow county folk, to restore this vibrant culture to a free prosperous nation. Many Venezuelan flags flowing as she swayed and sung from the depths of her soul. They closed of the corners and back of the venue to create an intimate environment by which to participate, yes participate with singing chorus and clapping. Some folks could not restrain themselves from dancing in the isles. With zero expectations, once again we were enveloped in something new and inspiring. Hopefully more folks like the couple who were blown away who don't frequent this venue will be inspired to come back n tell their friends. read more

Great venue with stadium seating. $125 for Sat night tickets. Parking garage nearby $20. Good acoustics. Seating pads are less comfortable - like a United flight. Your butt starts to ache. Restrooms are small and long lines. The Chris Botti concert didn't have an intermission so a lot of seniors would go to bathroom breaks every song, which is really distracting. Same seniors getting up. Hope they consider a 20 minute intermission in the future. Still highly recommended! read more

Dude. Shout out to the staff who were super nice and helpful to perpetually amazed me. Such a clean, well designed, and laid out venue. Super easy to get to, into, and through. Had floor/dance area tickets for the very spacious area in front of the stage. It was amazing to be so close to the artists. The whole area is intimate yet spacious if that makes any sense. I was close enough to see the set list on the floor, the floor sound pedal things, and the sound person on the right when the artist was motioning for certain things to be turned up. If you like being and feeling close to the action in a place that you'd feel comfortable enough to bring your grandmother to, this is your place. read more

Today was my first time at SFJazz. It is a beautiful venue. We went to see a family matine at the Miner Auditorium and I have to say the venue is beautiful. I don't think there is a single bad seat as we sat in the most left hand side of the terrace and we were able to see all the instruments and the vocalist from where we were. In my opinion this is such an approachable and affordable way for children to be introduced to large ensembles. I plan to return to check out more family matines. read more

I love SF Jazz and the great artists and music it offers. However, my recent experience in the Miner auditorium was not great. The acoustics in the upper balcony is just bad. The bass is way too strong. I needed some time to get accustomed to it. Your senses tell you something is really wrong and at first I thought I was having vertigo and tachycardia, but then realized it's the overwhelming bass sounds. The seating is a complete disaster. Bar stools that are way too tall for the average height with the foot rest too low. You're basically pressing on your ischiadic nerve while sitting. I stood for 3/4 of the performance as I couldn't sit. I've heard all people around us complaining about the seats, especially older people. What a design flaw! I mean, it should be obvious that bar stools are a bad idea for a 2h performance! The line for drinks was pretty long as was the one for the restroom. read more
