I bought two tickets in advance on eventbrite to watch Tony Lindsay, and American Jazz legend. You must check in upon first entry before heading down to the underground jazz club. We were seated quickly by gracious hosts just before 6 pm on a Friday night for a 630-8pm show. . We were again greeted about a drink. I ordered food and drinks. The brisket, jambalaya, catfish, and Mac n cheese were made quickly, well, and were great. The drinks also were decent. Great place to go for music but definitely don't recommend eating there. We ordered a few appetizers that were just ok then split an order of their Jambalaya. It was definitely the worst jambalaya I ever had. This dish should be full of spices and flavor and it was as bland as could be with VERY little sausage and chicken. There are no official Blues bars back at home in LA, so I knew I needed to make a trip to Biscuits and Blues during my work trip up to SF. It was a great little start to my solo date night in the city. Arrived a bit early for my 7:30pm reservation and the place was super cute and intimate. After a little bit of menu looking, I decided on a few drinks and dinner. I cant remember the first drink I had, but that doesnt matter because the Mai Tai I had was excellent! I asked to make their virgin mai tai not so virgin and it was creamy and delicious. For food, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the brisket. It was paired perfectly with mashed potatoes and green beans that were crispy and great. Music was great as well! I wish it was a little more lively in there, but its Wednesday in a big city, so ill have to come back on a weekend. All in all, a great little start to my night of live music,next time in SF and in the mood for some blues, Ill be right here. read more

Enjoyed a new orleans jazz party with Gunhild Carling and her family of musicians this past Saturday. I've seen her perform live at least three times now, at various locations, and her shows never disappoint. Biscuits & Blues was an ideal venue for her performance, an intimate environment, great sound and lighting on stage, and an awesome crowd, a full house, but it didn't feel claustrophobic in the lower level lounge. A nice setup with lovely art and decor to set the mood, starting from the lobby upstairs on street level. Service was friendly and professional, our food was delayed (took a little over 30 minutes), but staff was apologetic. Got the shrimp and grits, grilled salmon fillet, and buttermilk biscuits. All of the items were delish, cooked just right and freshly made, even if the serving sizes were small. The drinks, king sazerac and louisiana lemonade, were tasty too, and the wait for this was not as long. Parking is difficult in the area, but I saw a sign posted on the wall in the lounge, noting they have a special deal with the Mason/O'Farrell parking garage, $10 for three hours, or $15 for 5 hours (see my attached photo for instructions). read more

Biscuits & Blues has been around for THIRTY years in Union Square. It's well-known as a Blues venue, and you have the chance of seeing some amazing artists come through. The restaurant is underground and lit up with a bright blue bar. The space is intimate, and the acts sometime walk right up to you. I always love a good dinner and entertainment venue in one. The food was great. We had ceviche, gumbo, and of course, BISCUITS. They were so flaky and delicious, especially slathered with the accompanying honey butter. The food was a decent you don't get enough for the amount of money that you pay the biscuits were awful I could not believe that it was named biscuits and blues. Tina the host rushed us. The ambiance was pleasant. I didn't like the ideal that we paid over $300 for our food, and told us that we has to pay another $40 for the show,this should be against the law. Mind you we were eating as the show came on. This is highway robbery. They should be ashamed of their self. I was celebrating my birthday and I was totally disappointed. As much as I like biscuits, I would never buy them again. There were 4 of us and we all didn't like the overcharged biscuits. Improperly made drink. How difficult is a margarita anyway? Sweet potato fries are the de facto fries. What if I don't like sweet potatoes? Some forewarning would have been appreciated. Was that honey butter with my biscuits? It tasted like sugared butter. A good spicy chicken sandwich. Not a very appealing menu. We ordered a slice of key lime pie to go. It looked so good in the picture. We got home and opened it, only to find some other kind of pie. What a disappointment! The lone musician seemed adept on the keys ok. Food took forever to come out, we ordered at the begging and my sister didn't get her plate until 10min before the show was over. The drinks were horrible we ordered margaritas and a lemon drop. I was expecting very little entertainment venue inside the basement club with $40 cover charge for Blues band. But, when we sat down to sparsely attended club at the far corner of the big basement restaurant and bar, we were pleasantly surprised by the professional Blues Band with above average performance by the singer, lead guitarist, bassist and drummer as well as the conductor/pianist. The initial drinks were watered down and weak but the second set of cocktails were totally different from the first. We were all blown away by the concert and the proficiency of the musicians overall. The sweet potato and garlic toasted asparagus and their famous biscuits with honey butter spread were all decent. I have to say that the band was pretty good. They played nonstop for two hours. The lady was truly amazing blues singer who also sang some of her original songs that were very good. Nice gem. We used to go to B&Bs quite often before they closed. We went last night. I am wondering if they were having staffing issues. We got there 40 minutes early, ordered a drink as soon as we got there. Took over 30 minutes, looked like the bartender could have used some help. There were 4 of us for dinner. It took about 45 min to get 2 Caesar salads for dinner . I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. I had 3 small pieces of chicken. The pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken for the other 2 people came about 20 minutes later. It's a great venue with good music. I will definitely try it again. read more

The male bartender with a hat and mustache ripped me & my partner off, told us both our drinks were $9 then charged us $11 & $13 dollars. When I took the issue to the bartender he said, "I didn't know you had a budget," and called us cheapskates, telling us the drinks varied in price despite telling us before charge both drinks were $9. One drink was a non-draft beer that he said should be $9 at most, other was a vodka drink which I was told was also $9, and not only did it have no vodka but like I said they overcharged me. Not to mention, IT IS ILLEGAL to charge without informed consent. I would not come here, food is fine, however you will likely be overcharged. Everything here is overpriced. Incredibly disrespectful bartender, but all other staff was very nice and tried to help me out with the faulty transaction. Music here is always great though read more

After having been closed for several years, I was over the moon to hear that Biscuits and Blues was open again. On top of that, one of my favorite performers was on stage for my birthday weekend, Earl Thomas! And, with this being a big birthday event (my 50th), the stars were aligned for the perfect way to celebrate this special occasion! As I remember, the food and drinks were great! Between the whole table, we ordered almost every single appetizer and kept the drinks flowing! Shout out to the great staff who kept running back and forth to our table with food and drink. I was so happy to know this place reopened!! I remembered how amazing the food was and of course the music!! We just attended 7/20. The band was legit fire!! The food was unfortunately, terrible. The biscuits had a bad aftertaste and the texture was off. The honey butter didn't taste well either. The shrimp & grits were undercooked and didn't taste well.
