As I'm new to the area of Cordelia and right in the middle of either going to Fairfield or Vallejo as they're about the same distance, I sent out a quick project request for a smog check, to business to see what the costs are. SG smog check center got back to me pretty quickly and offered me a great deal that I could not refuse. I stopped by today and followed instructions and and showed the message to the front desk representative regarding the price. She unfortunately stated that they no longer do that price so I'll have to pay an additional $10. At that point I felt a little unhappy, but I'm already there so I need the service done. To my surprise when my car was finished with its smog, happy it passed, they honored and gave me the price that was quoted in the message. The facility itself is pretty quick. There were a few people in front of me, but it felt like I was in and out in less than 30 minutes from start to finish . My wife used to get her smogs done, at A-1 Smog, in Vallejo, on Sonoma Blvd, next to McDonalds. Today she attempted to complete a smog, but discovered that it was under new ownership. A mother and son team were running it for years, but the owners raised the rent so much they had to leave. The new owners never said hello or greeted her. She walked in, sat in the waiting area, but no one ever made verbal contact with her. My wife asked me to stop by the location. When I pulled up, I saw a male sneering at me from the garage area and my wife walking out of the entry way. I immediately told her, let's go. At that point, the so called receptionist appeared concerned because she watched as my wife got in the car and departed. Still no hello, is everything okay, can we help you, nothing. I scrolled through my phone and found SG Smog Center on Couch St. I asked if there any appointments today for Smogs. He said; yes. We arrived, filled out the form, waited in my truck and 30 minutes later we were out the door. Professional, pleasant, expedient and convenient. Right across from the DMV. Out of all smog shops I had to go to within the last 4 years this shop is a hidden gem. The front staff was incredibly nice which is rare because all the different ones I went to in Richmond were usually rude or just seemed like they wanted me out of the shop asap. However the lady at the front was so nice and trust me when I say THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR WALLET TOO unlike most shops, before I mentioned the yelp exclusive she was already going to give me a $30 off coupon they're offering right now. Decided to go through anyway rather than look for another shop, and they said it would be done in a hour and a half. An hour later they called and said they couldn't smog it because of a tail pipe issue we had confirmed first would not be an issue, came back to find our truck almost on the street with the windows down, unlocked, registration on the seat visibly, with our stereo faceplate detached, parked right next to the sidewalk instead of close to the business. So we took it to Smog Dog instead on Sonoma Blvd where we got a better price, and were in and out in less than half an hour, and they didn't leave our car unattended where it could have been stolen with all the paperwork.
