Prior to coming in I called if appointment necessary. It's first come first served. I only waited for a very short time and I was up next immediately. I did notice the person at the (office) window was not wearing a mask. Even if they were behind the glass I think Covid guidance should be followed especially that they have a mask-on required by the entrance. Price was very competitive. Although there were at least 4 people ahead of me already, the guys were really quick in doing their job. I ended up waiting less than 40 mins. I went to California's Best by accident on Fri. 3/4/22 around 3:25pm. No one was in the garage or the office though I walked into both. It was very eery. After five minutes a lady walked out from the back into the office and said they were closed for smog and to come back Monday. I drove next door to S&G who I originally meant to drive to in the first place but got confused. S&G took me right wway and said they would have me in and out in 10 minutes. These people are Idiots! Failed smog because the moron running the test said there was JB weld on a vacuum line when it was in fact some type of glue that someone years ago had put on to prevent it from coming off. I pulled the glue off in about 1/2 a second and there was no hole in the vacuum line underneath it. Also failed because a small crack began to develop in the rubber intake tube and some rubber sealant was placed over it as to prevent the crack from going all the way through the tube????? DONT GO TO THIS PLACE. They don't know the difference between soft set glue (white and flexible) and JB weld (dark gray and hard as a rock). Complete morons. read more

The Smog business in general is pretty shady one is the vibe I get. Everyone you call for a quote gives you a super high number, in the hopes you don't know better, and then extremely rude when you ask if there are any specials or discounts. Basically nobody sounds happy in this line of business. I found SG to be very pleasant to work with and fast. Original quote was $80 but fortunately Yelp got me a $40 special, which they honored. 10/8/2020 Consumer beware the people here are not competent and do not stand by their convictions. So in 2016 I brought my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse in to get a smog. The lady that works there told me that there was an issue with my EGR and it failed. I asked so what does that mean should I replace it?? I spent an extra 20 minutes talking to her to make sure I understood. She said YES. She said I have a free retest within 30 days. I have 2 other cars and decided not too. And I registered it as non op. Fast forward to 2020. I decided to replace the EGR on Eclipse. And during that time my friend who is a very accomplished mechanic owning 5 shops in the Philippines and one here in the Bay was going to replace it for nothing because hes a close friend and because I have the part. He told me it wasnt my EGR!!! WTH.. I super trust him and its not like he's trying to rip me off.. Im basically just going to buy him a beer for doing this and give him a big tip. He said he's going to fix everything just return the EGR and he take care of. He wants me to save money and even told me told what parts to buy etc. And he'll install it. I went back to the shop today and saw the same lady.. I was being koy to see what she says.. I know it was her because I recognized her immediately but I didn't want to offended her.. She said she would never say that and was trying to blame it on someone else that doesnt work there anymore.. Ok Cheryl stop lying.. Really bad shop.. Bad experience.. You are technically only a smog shop and if you are not allowed to give advice (especially if you do not know what your talking about) because of liability reasons etc. you shouldn't. But instead she put her 2 cents in and I ultimately made the decision not to register it because of what she stated what was wrong with the car.
