My friend recommended that I go cut my hair with Nancy. She cut my daughter's hair and it was OK. Yesterday I called and Nancy took me at 6 PM and made the accommodations that I needed. She was very nice. This review is only about the technical skills. She cut my hair and and ended with two obvious layers. She blended the hair horizontally and not vertically leaving about 2-3 inches between layers. The front face framing is uneven. The blow dry was terrible and she straightened my hair with a straightener. This morning when I woke up, I noticed how uneven and choppy my hair was. It looks like someone was angry and took their anger out on my hair. I took pictures and I texted them to Nancy and I asked for a refund or discount. She called and told me that my hair is dry and curly and that is why the haircut looks like that not that she didn't do a good job. it is a terrible haircut and terrible Customer Service. She couldn't even admit that she did a bad job and it's obviously uneven. So just because of that, I am leaving a bad review and I will be disputing the charge on my credit card. She tried to offer me free treatment services for two months, and she even tried to offer me free haircut for my daughter. Nothing justifies a bad haircut. read more

Zero wasn't an option so i had to put 1, so basically my wife went into the salon, and asked for root color and my daughter asked for layers so they added the root color into her hair and went to go wash off my daughters hair so when they came back her hair it felt like it was burning so then my wife asked them to wash it off. Then, they told my daughter to go sit to the chair next to hers so she did then when she sat there she saw a mirror and accidentally broke it and then Nancy came and went to check her hair and said nope theres nothing and then she said are u sure and she said yea if u don't believe me your daughter can come and check so she said no no i believe you and then my daughter came and said nope theres nothing so then when she went to go pay she said "oh and btw you are never going to die your hair again after this" and then she said yea ofc i wouldn't want to do this to my hair after this anyways! then she said oh and you have to pay for the mirror and she said what! she said well yea she broke it! She said well why didn't you tell my daughter to sit somewhere where there wasn't a mirror and she said well your daughter shouldn't have been touching our stuff and then she said well still u still should have told her to sit in a different seat and then Nancy said well I'm not a babysitter so then she said fine then if you don't want to pay i will pay from my own money and she said ok because of the bad customer service so then she left and yea! Ivvonne cut my hair a few weeks ago, and I am finally getting around to write this review. I was very happy with the cut and experience. She was funny, helpful and gave me lots of tips but the biggest thing was.... she listened to what I wanted to achieve. I am growing my hair out and want a long modern shag. also had some hair pics to show her so she could use as a guide My hair is currently above my shoulders but told her the problems I was having with my really thick hair. She cut my hair, shaped it, thinned it out and used the current cutting techniques. I typically get my hair cut every 4-6 weeks...but she told me based on the cut I wanted she recommended that I need to llet it grow and come back in three months. This way my hair can grown into it's shape. Then she can clean it up and thin it out if needed. She also took the time to help me with the new eyebrow styles. Gave me tips on products to use and the do's and dont's when filling them in. That was a huge thing for me since I typically fill them in pretty heavy. Also gave me a few make up tips on base color to use. I did ask her about this stuff and she provided me with all sorts of helpful information. Very pleased with my experience with Ivvonne. Let's start with the good. Nancy did an amazing job on my hair. My hair looks fabulous! 10/10 would recommend her. However, The website is very misleading about the prices. While you may book an appointment for a haircut for your long hair with no shampoo for $30, it's not clearly disclosed to you that they will charge significantly extra for your long hair, eventually making your cut $65. Even if you come in with hair that is already shampooed. The full treatment (shampoo, cut and style) for long hair is $55, according to their website. When I called and asked about the discrepancy in the total, I was told there was extra fees for long hair. Do I understand the need to charge extra for long hair? Kind of. Should it have been brought to my attention before being charged and extra $35, absolutely. read more

Nancy did an amazing job of coloring my daughters hair to the requested pink. Gave a lot of care in the consult to get her the style and shade of pink she wanted. She loves it, which is a blessing for me. Nancy actually listens and is a very talented person. I love that she keeps up with the styles for myself and my daughter's preferences in color. read more

Visited SH Salon in Katy for my first time today and saw Ivonne. I made my appointment online for a single one process color. After my color she rinsed it and blow-dried it - much darker than what I wanted -I wanted my natural medium brown and now my hair is closer to black. When I went to pay, the total was $130. I asked why the price was so much higher than what the website said and she said that it's more expensive because my hair was longer length (ok,whatever) but it's also $30 for the blow dry. I thought it was extremely off-putting that she didn't ASK that before she started blow drying, because it WAS NOT a service I asked for when I scheduled my appointment. It's a very tacky way of doing business in my opinion. I've never been charged so much for a single process color & not had a stylist blow dry to see the final color. I felt scammed when I went to pay. I will not be returning because I'd rather have a stylist that openly communicates what will be an "extra" charge for services they provide. read more

THE OWNER MADE IT EXPLICITLY CLEAR THAT THE PRICE ESTIMATE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CLIENT AND YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN ESTIMATE FROM VAGUE INFORMATION ON THEIR WEBSITE. My 18-year-old daughter booked an appointment and submitted her payment information online to schedule a highlight job with the service starting at $80. Her hair is down to her waist and expected an extra charge. When she arrived and sat in the salon chair, the stylist asked her age. When my daughter replied that she was 19, the stylist replied that she was relieved because 16-year-olds come in and then the mothers complain about how high the price is. The stylist begins the work, never mentions or consults on the price, and proceeds to complete the single process job. It needs to be stated that here is not any pricing posted anywhere in the salon and finding additional charges online is hidden on a hover button (WHICH I LATER LEARNED HOW TO FIND FROM THE OWNER). When my daughter goes to pay and leave her card was charged $380 for the 1-color highlight job. Understanding that her hair is down to her waist, she expected to pay around $150 - $220. She could not do anything at time that she was taken advantage of because she submitted her payment information to the salon online beforehand. Later that afternoon, I went in and asked the salon for an explanation of the charges. The stylist, manager, and owner of the salon could not provide detail on the extra $250 charge. She said it was a miscommunication. [When in fact it was a lack of communication. There is not any price information posted in the salon, there is not any specific price information on the website.] When it was evident that the manager was incapable of providing detail or unwilling to address the price gouge concern, we asked for the owner's contact information and proceeded to leave the salon. As we were walking out, two stylists began talking about us and inflation in Spanish. Since we are Spanish speakers, they were taken aback when we addressed that we are fully aware of inflation and the fully aware of the average service price for the job that my daughter received. We are not asking for anything free, it is just clear that a kid was taken advantage of and it has apparently happened several times before. My daughter was a targeted for the price gouge based on her age. When we contacted the owner, he could not provide clarification on the charges and falsely stated that $380 is lower than average for a highlight job for long hair. read more

I only gave 1 star because 1/2 wasn't an option. I went by on sun to ask about their groupon keratin treatment. Misty who was the only one working said she was new and couldn't help me and to call back next day and talk to Venessa. Called the next day and venessa said she didn't know l came by because misty doesn't tell her anything. When l mentioned groupon she said they dont honor it but l can buy it from them for the same price. When l told her they have this service on groupon she again said none of the stylist will except the groupon and could talk to the manager "misty" if l had an issue!!!!!! Clearly they have major issues besides being dishonest and l told her l was contacting groupon and reporting their practices. read more

I bought the Groupon for keratin hair, I purchased the medium hair package, and my hair just is a little bit longer than that what she considered as medium hair which anyway she charged me for that. I don't mind. She did an excellent job on a haircut. But lousy job on Keratin. When she started she explain to me that my curl will disappear ! which after washing my hair after 48 hours I just found all of that frizz are still there! Like I did nothing. Waste of money. Also, they don't do Keratin solution and then straightening. I have done Keratin before and this not the experience I am looking for. It is just not for Keratin Treatment. Samira. read more

I called to make an appointment for a cut and an all over color with the Groupon I had purchased. The person who answered the phone was very nice until I mentioned the Groupon. You cold almost hear the eye roll in the sigh. She then made it a point to tell me that she didn't know if she had anyone available because "NOT ALL of the stylists here take Groupon". She said she had one stylist available, still kind of mumbling so I didn't catch her name either. She then proceeded to decribe the all-over color as "they will color the roots, any more than that will cost extra". I told her what she was describing sounded like a root touch-up. SHE LAUGHED! Her reply was "no, no, no. That's the all-over color". So I asked her, just to clarify: "So you're telling me that for an all-over color, you are going to color the roots only, leaving 6-8" of hair uncolored." She said yes, exactly. Told her nope, that's ridiculous, and ended the call. I confirmed with a stylist friend of mine that the "all-over color means that the hair will be colored from roots to ends. They need to teach their people better. And besides, sometimes people come in with a coupon of some sort, and keep coming because they like the place, paying full price for the services. Well because of the young lady who answered the phone and treated me so poorly, you have lost a potential long term client. And that stylist and colorist has lost a fat tip. Because I may have purchased a Groupon, but when I do, I tip based on the regular price, not on the Groupon deal. read more

Today I went into SH Salon requesting partial highlights so that I could blend my ash blonde with a red color that I had applied. The stylist said that she had to give me full foil highlights this time and that maybe the partial next time. I did explain that I had colored my hair 9 days prior so I wanted to be sure that this was safe. I was assured that it was. After applying the highlights,the stylist set me under a fairly hot dryer, and left me for about 15 minutes. She came back and checked my color (compared my hair to a swatch from a book), and then left me under the dryer and returned to the back of the store. My head started to feel like it was burning after about another 10-15 minutes but she did not return until the other hairstylist called for her to return, since she didn't seem to be able to hear me calling. I had to lift the hair dryer, because the foil seemed to be burning my scalp, and it did not cool down until they finally ran cool water over my hair. I asked if my head or hair was burnt, but she said it was fine. After applying the highlights and using the dryer, this stylist put what she called toner on my head and it really burned. I now have a sore spot on my head either from the dryer over-heating or from the chemical processing, or maybe both. I think if she were paying attention or had left the dryer on a lower temperature this wouldn't have happened. I haven't had a foil highlight since March of 2016, almost two years, and I've never had such a bad experience. read more

I have lost 85 pounds and wanted to have my hair professionally cut for the first time in ten years. I had done a good bit of damage to it with my home hair cut and hoped that it could be salvage. Stacy was recommended to me by another family member who had let her hair grow for even more years than mine. Stacy did an incredible job on her hair so I decided to give her a try. I am very glad I did. She listened to me carefully and heard my ambiguity about going short. She did a beautiful job of making my hair feel and look thicker and she gave me some ideas about coloring it, something I have never done but am ready to try. My hair is shorter than when I came in but it is longer than I thought I wanted. Yet it is, according to my daughter, the best hair cut I have ever had. I can't thank Stacy enough and will be a return customer. The cut was $16. With a blow out it was $25. I purchased two products she recommended and I liked and I was so pleased with the whole day.
