I wanted to get a spray tan for the first time for my brothers wedding and when I saw positive Yelp reviews for a women owned business I knew I had found my spot to try. HEADS UP: When arriving, depending on the time, you may need to text the business cell (provided to you via text the day before) to alert them of your arrival and wait at the back entrance. This was no issue for me, but it was a bit confusion the first time around. This is fast and easy, but I think its good to know the process before you go. I took advantage of the Happy Hour tans, which are ten dollars off (as of the writing of this review). This is a great deal and I highly recommend it. My experience here was really wonderful. Since it was my first time the process was explained to me and then I was asked for some details about my needs for the tan. Getting the tan feels cool but not uncomfortable. On my second visit I got the "Ultra" tan which works in 4 hours instead of 8. If you have a busy day planned I cannot recommend this treatment enough. It worked as well as the regular tan but it was great to be able to only wait four hours. Overall: If you have been curious about getting a tan I highly recommend coming to Shades. Heard about Lori from a friend and after I tried on my dress from Rent the Runway and realized how much more my tan lines stood out given the cut of my dress. I was in a panic and Lori put me at ease! I had never tried spray tanning before and I had always thought it would be a disaster if I did- Yet I went ahead and did my first run the night before my event! Was a risk but the reward was great! The tan lines that remained were subtle, and pretty much not even noticeable from farther away (based on pics and when looking in mirrors) This was huge! I felt so confident and not once that night did I worry about tan lines. Instead I was able to stay in the present and just have a good time! Now I'm excited to try more exciting cuts for dresses in the future given I don't have to surrender to tan lines after all! There were areas that were darker- where I didn't exfoliate as well beforehand, but they were covered by the dress. For example, on my sides where my bra strap is. This is good to know for future tans and how to make the most of them (because I am already thinking about my next one even though this one isn't completely gone yet!) Will be back for future events and swim suit season :) I also showered every day so mine faded much faster- I did pat dry every time but you can't stop nature ha. So I'll definitely have it done the night before my event again. And finally- definitely lotion up! Lori will tell you to stay hydrated and moisturized and I can't agree more.
