I have been going to Tan By The Sea for a full year now. I have never had one bad experience, the quality of the beds, and the Cleanliness is amazing! I do the red light therapy bed and the level five with red light and LED facial. I have an unlimited monthly price that is well worth five times a month in what i get. The owners are super friendly and helpful. They really take pride in their salon. The other ladies that work there are just as nice they call you by first name treat you like family. Today was my second airbrush at Tan by the Sea. It's about 2 blocks from my street, so not sure why I've been driving to iTan for all these years. Shanti has done my tan both times - first was for a wedding in the summer which came out perfect with the strappy bridesmaid dress I had to wear. Today I came in for engagement photos next week. There are a few reasons: 1) The owners are very personable and professional 2) The Versa spa is perfect for me (I'm in and out within 5 minutes, with a great tan) 3) they allow me to call ahead to reserve a room 4) the place is always super clean and the equipment (especially the Versa Spa) is state of the art. This is a stellar Tanning Salon! A rare find in a sea of tanning salons that just want to sell tanning packages without meeting the actual needs of their customers. After a recent sudden and mortifying realization my legs were in a horribly pasty white state and just would not be acceptable for a night out, I found myself in desperate need of a quick tan! The next awful realization, i only had about an hour before needing to be ready for my night out. Consequently, I called Tan by the Sea in my highly anxious state in hopes of a last minute appointment. Fortunately, for me Shanthi (one of the owners) answered the phone and immediately eased my mind with her congenial demeanor and knowledge regarding my options. She went out of her way to accommodate me offering a last minute appointment-"no problem, come on in," she said! Upon my arrival Shanthi made some great suggestions, and I immediately felt completely confident with her expertise. I ended up with a natural looking, evenly applied spray tan at a great price. I love this place! After that experience I bought a package of tans not only because the service was great, staff knowledgeable, and great prices, but because the owners really care about making their customers happy! Tim and Shanthi run a great place for tanning. You get a choice of two different types of spray tans, and three or four different beds, with one high speed one. There is also one stand-up booth so you can tan those pressure points you get from using a bed. The salon is always clean and every room has everything you need including wipes and spray deodorant for after tanning. They change the bulbs often so the beds are always tip-top and ready for the next appointment. Speaking of which, you can walk in or make an appointment. Most places run by appointment only. These days, spur of the moment visits happen more often than set plans. If you want to try out the salon, look for a Groupon deal. And although it looks like there is no parking, behind the building, there is plenty . . . because no one knows you can park there! read more

I've never "fake baked" before, but since I've been too busy working and had not spent enough time at the beach, I decided to start my tan here for an early summer vacation to Cancun instead of showing up as a 'human light house' for those on the beach (yeah, pretty darn white). That being said, this is the first and the only place I've gone to tan. Their staff is friendly and remembers your name after just a couple visits. They have great prices for their 3 month "all you can tan" passes for those who want to keep their tan whether you work too much during the sunlight hours ; ) or just don't like going to the beach/pool after September. So I go here. I do the joys of Magic tan and cheat my way out. First off, it's ran by this super nice married couple that will help even the most UV-deficient to get at least some color in them for the beach months. The prices are the best in north county. The place is stylish, clean and very welcoming. Usually Magic tans run like 30-40 buck for a session but with their package deal it usually runs like 20. I have thoroughly enjoyed my visits here - at the seaside upscale establishment in old town Carlsbad. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the entire experience is laid back and relaxing.
