Wow! I walked into this little flower shop for the first time today (having never seen it before) and was completely charmed. It felt like walking into a curiosity shop of the past. Perhaps like a shop that Harry Potter would visit. I took a bunch of photos. Of course, the flowers were beautiful, and even though I only spent $7, the shop keeper took great care to wrap them up, as if they were the most precious things in the world. The shop also has vintage perfume bottles, crystals, antique vases, and even delicate jewelry. Honestly, coming in here felt like a respite from the external world and soothed my nerves instantly. My mom ordered from Shady Grove over the phone since we live out of state. She asked them to look at a photo of the Christmas tree design on 800 Flowers and to design the arrangement as such. Now the arrangement on 800 Flowers is a plant. Not exactly the same arrangement since this is a odd shaped tree made out of Christmas tree. Shows they didnt look up her photo sample. The flowers received for my dad's funeral were unacceptable. They looked as though they wewe wilted. I used them because I was from Atlanta and had a limited time to order also I checked reviews online and saw that they were good. I also ordered a certain color and that was not done which I understand but could have at least gotten a telephone call to tell me. Charming! The service is just as wonderful as the selection. It's a small shop but it's packed to the brim with neat treasures. I loved all the beautiful terrariums and terrarium accoutrements. I left with a really unique ceramic hippo head planter that hangs from the wall and a beautiful hanging metal dove. I thought the prices were excellent! read more

We used Shady Grove flowers for a small wedding in Asheville in mid 2021. We are not from Asheville, and saw that they had lots of positive reviews, so we went for it. The woman we worked with, Courtney (possibly the owner?) had genuinely terrible communication and customer service throughout our experience working with her. It would take days/weeks for her to respond to multiple emails and even calls. We had a Sunday wedding, and they are not open, so we had to pick up the flowers on Saturday. She does offer Sunday delivery for a fee, but I'm an event producer and know how to keep flowers fresh for 24 hours so, we opted to pick up on Saturday, assuming that the flowers would be able to hold up for 24 hours. We picked up the flowers and they were fine looking - kinda what the bride had asked for, nothing mind blowing, but nothing to complain about- they were fine. Unfortunately, 50% of what we were given did not hold up until the wedding. Individual stems in bouquets were dead (not the whole thing), we had 1 useable boutonniere, and no useable corsages. I would hope that if a florist knew that the flowers would be used later, they would be selecting the right flowers - sadly this didn't happen. We were forced to re-arrange all the bouquets to salvage a few usable ones. We emailed Shady Grove and told them what happened, and the response was "we made beautiful flowers, you obviously ruined them overnight, our contract covers that". Terrible customer service - So we paid full price and weren't able to use half of what we paid for, and had to re-arrange bouquets. I have worked with tons of florists and have never experienced anything like this. They may be better with individual bouquets or items as some of the other reviews state, but clearly couldn't put together a larger order that would last for more than a day. Disappointing. Based on my communications with Courtney, I'm confident she will respond to this and say it was our fault, that we ruined the flowers overnight, but I assure you, that is absolutely not the case. It was an unfortunate selection of certain stems that just couldn't last that long. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that understands what customer service actually is. read more

I recently had my wedding in Asheville at The Venue, and chose Shady Grove as my florist because it was near the venue and I loved the organic look of the arrangements. I didn't have much of a budget, so my fiancé and I decided we would diy the centerpieces and let the florist do the personal flowers. I worked with Courtney, but didn't give her much input - just my colors and a few pictures. She worked within my budget and was very pleasant to work with. I called from out of state wanting to send a plant to a business celebrating their one year anniversary. I spoke with Norma who was wonderful. I explained I wanted a plant that could be planted in a garden later on. We discussed a hydrangea and discussed price, etc. Norma told me she would go to the nursery on Sunday (a few days after our call) and see what she could find. On Sunday she called me while at the nursery and told me what sort of hydrangeas where available. We discussed various options. I thought this was fabulous service, with Norma ensuring she found a plant to satisfy me. I was thrilled with the excellent, personalized service and reasonable price. I worked with Courtney and gave her very little input - just my colors and the overall look and theme that I wanted to convey. She worked within my budget and was very pleasant to work with. I didn't really know what to expect but when I saw the results I was astounded. They were the most beautiful, interesting arrangements I had ever seen, and I received compliments on them all evening long, especially from florists and artists who were attending. My bouquet was exquisit, exactly what I had hoped for, and the centerpieces were works of art. The way she integrated candles and light into each was truly unique. They were a conversation starter throughout the evening.
