The owner kept yelling directions at staff. It was loud and obnoxious. You could tell the staff didn't appreciate it. Treated us like children. The helmets we used didn't seem sanitary or washed. The owner Sarah is a former teacher and she and her staff were wonderful. The girls learned to groom the horses, braid the horses manes and even decorate the horses. It wasn't crowded at all and the views were still great. It was a full day, as we arrived around 10:30 am and were back in the car around 5:30 pm, so expect to take the whole day to enjoy this ride and to stop at the town of Vernonia. I love how this trail had multiple bike hubs and came in handy to put some air in my tires about 15 miles in. It was generally all family-friendly riding, with only a couple of hills where we did walk our bikes, but you can ride uphill if you are looking for an uphill challenge. But do note, that there were considerable amount of uneven spots/small potholes on the trail which my friend didn't remember on her last ride here so just be prepared for that. Luckily, most of them are marked! I will also agree with other reviews - about first 10 miles from Banks was a noticeable workout. We decided to grab some burgers in Vernonia and stretch our legs - which I totally suggest to do. We did see that a neighbor on our way to Vernonia had some free grapes and apples for us, which was such a sweet treat and extra fuel. I will suggest this to all my newbie and more advanced biker friends looking for a workout with a view!

Quick note, there are lots of places to park for this ride. If you want the full length, park in Banks. If you want less than that, we like to park at the Buxton trailhead as you avoid some of the straight/flat/sort of bumpy section that you get further south. Know that there's a decent amount of uphill when you head towards Vernonia, but a sweet amount of downhill coming back!

WHAT A TREAT! I'm not even sure where to begin. There were so many activities (kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, goat feeding, board games, giant outdoor chess, lawn games, giant tricycles, and horseback riding) that I personally never got through my list of things I wanted to do. The barn itself has many rooms with comfortable beds. There are more than enough bathrooms to accommodate all guests. The barn is three stories. The first floor boasts an industrial kitchen and a very large dining room and two bathrooms. The second level has another full kitchen and living area as well as bedrooms and bathroom. This level also has a large open area with a small stage a d dance floor. I can totally see a youth group enjoying this space. My family used it to play D&D. The upper level has more sleeping areas and another bathroom. The owners were very helpful as well as unobtrusive. We have already booked our reunion here for 2020.
