This place will help you. Having seen others shoot in their indoor range I inquired as to how we can. I believe his name was Brad and he helped us out. I admitted it was years ago I played and was quite rusty. Brad brought us to a private area (adjacent to the common shooting area where several could partake at a time) after gauging which bow would be befitting for me and my 18yo. He was extremely patient teaching us and after we gained confidence let us loose to shoot. It was so fun and we got better and better. Overall it was $49 for both of us and you can stay as long as you want. I purchased a deal to come with a small group of friends. None of us had any experience but I thought it would be a fun activity to try. We checked in at the front counter (it's also a sporting goods store) and they took us next door promptly. Our instructor showed us what to do and then led us nextdoor to their indoor range. It wasn't too busy which is nice because you have to clear the range for safety. So the fewer the people the faster you can shoot. They had lots of bows to choose from and you can shoot arrows as long as you want. It was kind of cool watching people who clearly know what they're doing. Although we could stay all day, after a couple hours we were satisfied with our experience. It was a lot of fun and it's nice to try out activities like this in a safe, friendly environment. Would leave 0 if I could. Years ago We got a bow from these guys at around 400 so my mom could shoot with me. Called recently because we decided to sell both for 1,500 (for context I paid just that for my bow, which is a limited edition Hoyt.) The original guy we reached out to twice and traveled out 2 hours for was gone despite enthusiastically saying yes previously. I have no issue with that as emergencies happen all the time. However, the guy that was there quoted us a measly 380 for both complete sets, completely devaluing not only my Hoyt but their own bow as well. Completely inconsiderate of our time wasted and offered next to nothing, expecting us to basically give them back their bow for free and give them a major discount on a valuable one. When you call to sell any used equipment they will tell you that you will need to talk with "Robert" in order to sell it. When you show up suddenly Robert is out of the shop and they are only authorized to spend so much on any equipment. This is a SCAM "Robert" doesn't exist and you will never be able to reach this phantom person. I called on Sunday 7/7 spoke with them about the recurve's that I was looking to sell, they stated that they were interested in them, I let them know that I would be driving up from Eugene, they said oh yes Robert would be there till 6:30pm on Sunday which would be best for them and that they were very interested in purchasing. When I arrived "Robert" had left just moments before 5pm but they would go ahead and take a look at the sets. They then proceeded to tell me that they didn't really want any high end recurve set up because they wouldn't be able to sell them. Earl resisted to even give me a price and then proceeded to tell me that well they'd give me $350 for both sets, just to clarify my local Ace Buyers pawn shop on Highway 99 had told me that they would give me $375 for both sets (they guy at the pawn shop couldn't even pronounce the word Hoyt) Archers Afield knew very well that the limited edition and Numbered Hoyt Recurve set up with Carbon Ace Limbs is worth. Love this place, the staff is very welcoming and professional. Our kiddo loves going to her weekly class. Evan the class instructor is very professional and great with the young kiddos. This place deserves more accolades due to it's fun and very friendly atmosphere. It's a great spot for anyone who has never done archery before or with lot of experience. You can also take classes here, owners are willing to help anytime with form adjustment. Very clam, non-rush and easy-going place for archery practice. You can ask the staff for recommendation on bows and arrows, especially bows come in different weight and they can be quite heavy for beginners so get some advise before hand and it will be easy on you. Make sure to wear wrist covers, finger gear to protect from scratches and redness as those bow strings will burn you a lot if you're not used to archery. Finding this place might just little hard as it's tucked away inside a small strip mall in Tigard, plenty of parking. But my most recent (and best) experience was hosting a birthday party there. Talk about easy... It is hidden in the lower level of a strip mall just a few blocks off 217 and Highway 99. To adequately set your expectations, this is what I consider a no frills venue. As the mother of boys, they really aren't terribly interested in amenities, so it was perfect. But, as the host, you really need to bring everything with you to make it festive (food, drinks, decorations, cake, etc.). Although they do have some drinks and a freezer full of novelty ice cream treats. The party space is a private range with six targets and a long table and chairs. This was great for kids because the space was entirely ours (we didn't worry about bothering other customers on the main range with the noise) and the targets were much closer. The party package included rental of the bows and arrows, some instruction and 2-hours of private range time. A few ways to make your party even better: 1) Customize targets. They were receptive to us bringing in our own (within reason, I'm sure). 2) Decorations. Space is very utilitarian, so you could really have some fun theming it out. 3) Food. Unlike the vast majority of other venues, you can bring in outside food. This was so refreshing. There is also a pizza place nearby, so they can include this in your party if you want them to take care of it for you. 4) Freezer. They do have a small freezer, so having an ice cream cake was no problem. We had a child with a nut allergy that I wasn't aware of ahead of time, so he got to choose one of their ice cream treats instead. Problem solved. I thought the instruction was good and she found a nice balance of surpervising our group of older kids and then letting us manage the process. For kids, you do need some parental/adult supervision depending on the age and ability of your guests. It wouldn't have been nearly as relaxing for me if this was a party of 8-year olds whose parents did the drop and run. We also visited Broken Arrow in Milwaukie as an alternate venue. A whole different beast. And while they may have excellent products, they really aren't set up to host parties (one range, long targets, more expensive). We are considering purchasing a bow for our son and the entry point for a compound bow was around $500 there. We are more interested in a used starter bow, and found better options at Archers Afield. Went to take the intermediate recurve class and had a fantastic time with the instructor (I believe the instructor was Robert). My wife and I had such a great time with our instructor who was very professional, and set a relaxed learning atmosphere. Even though it was closing hours the instructor allowed us to browse their selection of recurve bows, got us properly fitted for one, installed a sight on the bow, allowed us to sample some fingered tabs to see which fit the best, and taught us how to takedown the bow for storage. Had so much fun at the date night event! They give you a short introduction and tips if needed throughout the night. You shoot from a very close range (probably less than 5 yards) so it's really to get your feet wet and just have a fun night together. The games are creative and seemed to catch even some experienced people off guard. They have a lot of equipment to use included in the charge. Even if you have your own gear I'd probably leave it at home because it seems like overkill for this particular event. My only critique is that it was pretty cramped and there's only one instructor who was obviously winging it as he went. It made things a little slow and unorganized at times but we were there to have a good time and enjoy a new experience. Try it out and have fun! read more

After my coworker raved about how fun archery was, I decided to get the Groupon for a group of 4 lesson. There were 5 of us though, one last minute addition who was willing to pay extra. But he didn't blink an eye and led us as a group to their upstairs area. It's a small studio that we had for ourselves. It's was a quiet & nice environment to learn archery. Teacher was really good, teaching us the good forms and correcting us as necessary. I was shooting arrows in no time! Then we were let loose in the main area, shooting as long as we wanted. It was a lot of fun! It's really easy to pick up archery - you can just come by, they have day passes and bow/arrow rentals. There are plenty of bows to choose from, so you can try out different weights before deciding on the one that's good for you. Everyone is very helpful and eager to teach newbies to the sport. They also sell hunting/archery stuff, with a separate smaller range to try out the gear in a more intimate setting. That and all the camo, how can't you fall in love with archery? :) PS: the place is a bit hidden, you need to go to the back of the strip mall to see the store front. read more

Two days ago I sighted my bow in for over an hour and the only thing I wanted to change was my peep. I went in to Archer's yesterday and after 3 compressions in their press to change different peeps the bow flew apart in my hand. Archers refuses to accept any responsibility even though my bow was fine the day before and offered to help me out with a $40 discount on their $200+ mistake. I've since had two shops who are helping me fix my bow look at the damage and everyone but Archers is in agreement that the misaligned cables rolled the edge over on the cam tracks resulting in the damage. Lesson learned - Make sure you trust your bow mechanic and the shop you choose has enough integrity to stand behind their work, good or bad! read more

Went in with a "30-minute lesson for 4" Groupon and were very happy with the experience! The young lady walked us through bow safety and gave us some basic tips on stance, body position, bow grip, etc. None of us had ever used a bow/arrow before (unless you count as kids some 30 years ago) but within 15-20 minutes she had us launching with surprising consistency at the targets 10 yards away. Then we were allowed to shoot to our hearts content until our shoulders/backs/wrists got tired (which happened for the adults much quicker than for the 10- and 12-year-old. Later on, for a challenge, we backed up and launched from 15+ yards. We had such an amazing time we're strongly considering a multi-visit punchcard or maybe even a family pass for a year of shooting (if I understood that correctly). We definitely plan on being back! It's definitely a no-frills sort of place, as somebody else mentioned; but if that keeps the prices reasonable, it works for me. 5 of us (3 adults, 2 teens) came in for a 30 minute lesson. Had a GREAT time. We were greeted as soon as we came in, had a young male instructor who was attentive, instructive, and fun. With his help we honed are skills in the private class room upstairs for 30 minutes then went downstairs to play on the indoor range. We were told we could break for lunch, which we did for an hour, then came back and shot some more arrows for another hour. I don't give 5 stars often but I don't know what could be better than AA. The staff is helpful, they have most of what you could want and have great hours and prices.
