On our adventure for best halal in Yonkers (per my opinion) this time we tried out Shahs. I was immediately excited to see more fresh veggies than usual spots. I of course got the chicken over rice. The rice was an unfamiliar brown which I thought would be an overbearing flavor but not the case at all. The chicken was also alarming since it was a red color. And that is where I should have used better judgement. It was quite spicy which I was not expecting. To my plate I added the cucumber and tomato salad and chickpeas and of course a healthy amount of the white sauce. I also ordered pita bread but could have down without. The bread itself had a strange taste that I did not enjoy and wasn't the usual color of pita bread. Almost seemed like a whole wheat version. This spot ranks as number 2 of halal spots in Yonkers for me! Just keep in mind it definitely has a kick to it! read more

It was my first visit here. I had no idea it's a franchise. They have parking in the back. There was tons of seating, but it got busy around 7:30ish. The prices here are so reasonable & portions are very generous. I ordered a fish platter, with rice & salad, topped with grilled onions & peppers. I also got a side of falafal to try. All this food costs $17! I left here busting at the seams! But let's talk about the food. My fish platter came with freshly fried flounder, 2 huge pieces! The fish was laid on a bed of seasoned rice with a cucumber tomato salad on the side, I also asked for lettuce & and onions, hoping to balance those carbs. I then had him put white sauce (classic), green sauce (minty herb vinegarette), and red sauce (spicy) on top. This platter was so delicious! I mean, it was surprisingly amazing! The falafel was kinda dry to me, but I'm super picky about my falafel. I'd skip the falafel next time. The service was friendly; my server was a young teenager who was very excited for me to try the food cause he thinks it's really good, which I can now confirm. This place is a great value, especially because it's halal. Halal meats & poultry are expensive because they're better quality. So, seeing their generous portions is very satisfying. Listen, I needed to try something new, decided I wanted Halal (It's been a minute) and I found this place. Google review always lie, so I had to check Yelp and the reviews were almost 5*. It took a 20 minute trip driving from the other side of Yonkers, but I arrived to the palace of Halal. No, it literally looks like a mansion. The place was IMMACULATE inside. Huge, spacious and beyond clean. I was very impressed. I ordered the two fish platter over rice. They even serve it over BROWN rice, which was not only very different, but obviously way better due to the health benefits. This was my first time trying a meat besides the chicken and goat, so I was hoping it was good. Listen. It was GREAT. No oil, no grease and nothing of the likes of a typical halal cart. The fish they gave me was HUGE portions, I mean Jesus could've fed those people with just these TWO fish they gave me. It wasn't over seasoned, but was seasoned enough and with the white sauce, salad and brown rice? BRUH. I have never in my life ate Halal this good. I have NEVER IN MY LIFE ATE HALAL THIS GOOD. It doesn't look like a huge portion, but it was VERY filling and worth every cent of that $10.99. I ordered a side pita to go with it, requesting it to be cooked. It was so warm, soft, with just the right amount of sweetness. Ladies and gentleman, there are levels to Halal. The customer service was also great and apparently they have over 40 locations. Now I see why. I'll definitely be back. If I could rewind time and eat this again I would. If you ever find me on death row, THIS IS WHAT I WANT AS MY LAST MEAL. I finally gave Shah's a try, and I'm honestly so glad I did. This is my go-to for Halal food now. The lamb is so juicy and the chicken is moist and flavorful. The green sauce is so amazing. Could drink a gallon of that stuff. Decent amount of food for a decent price. Will go here from now on instead of Halal Guys. read more

We came here twice so far. Fries were nice and had some seasoning on top which was really good. My daughter liked their hot wings and they were fried perfectly. Only con was with the lamb and rice platter and sandwich. The bread wasn't warmed and the meat was not warmed. Decided to stop for lunch with hubby after our monthly appointment a few blocks away, and we are SO glad we did! The location is great, with plenty of parking, and inside is spacious and spotless! The people working here are super friendly and knowledgable about all of their food. We both got chicken over rice, Hubby had Lamb and chicken on his, some pitas, with some salad and sautéed onions on the side. I have to add the prices were surprisingly affordable for all the food we got, I took half of mines home I had so much I couldn't finish it! They offer packets of white sauce or hot sauce in case you're like me and want to add little bye little as you eat. Oh and omggg get the GREEN SAUCE! Its a cilantro sauce with a little bite to it and its sooo good I put it on everything! After we were done, we got an extra plate to take home to our son who was in school at the time and boy oh boy was he happy when he came home from school and ate! He asked me afterwards, where did we get the food and how soon can he go with is next time, commenting on how good it was :) Our server Jose suggested we try it because we never had it before and wow....it was great! He's for sure an asset to this establishment, personable and professional also. We woke up today, planning our next visit and how much we are going to buy to take home as well! 1.5 stars Not sure how it's rated so high -- the food is barely edible. My guess is paid reviews. Microwaved food at best. I guess the plus side is you get a decent amount of food for the price. Yay. Chicken is dry and dyed unnecessarily red. Kofta tastes like a rubber band. Chewy like bad calamari and nothing resembling kofta. Hummus tasted sour -- not like lemon sour but sitting out for too long and turned bad sour. And the freaking falafels, hard as rocks. I would be ashamed serving this food to people. read more

It's so nice that Shah's is opening locations all across westchester. I still remember trying them out for the first time in Rockland County at Palisade Mall and then White Plains and now Yonkers. They had certainly carried over the food quality, the great ingredients, condiments, the food service as well as a reasonable price. There's plenty of parking behind this location for those looking to avoid street parking. There's also a lot of seating. I had combo over rice which was amazing as usual with green sauce and hummus. 100%, the best halal spot I've had in my life. The plates and combos are perfect, whether lamb or chicken it is always moist (hate that word) and fresh. It's nice to see more Halal places opening up in Westchester, even better when they have good food. One thing that was missing from others is a good Philly Cheese Steak, which this place has. They make it great ( although they don't toast the bread so, keep that in mind and maybe ask em to do it ) So far from what my wife has had ( She's tried the platters & Cheesesteak) and mother ( she loves the nuggets and fries ) they are new fans.
