The chicken was well-seasoned with a charred, smoky flavor I loved, and the tzatziki sauce was so yummy, elevating everything in the sandwich. This place is so good. I always pass it when I'm in town and I don't know why I came here for only the first time because it was so delicious and very fresh. I came here for lunch so I got a Gyro and the prices were really good. I would say it's very decent amount of food for the price that you pay which I feel like is hard to find nowadays. The place inside is really clean. It looks like you're in a very Greek restaurant with the white and blue and the service was very nice and friendly and very quick. However today as we sat and ate at this establishment we were greeted by a Cockroach on the wall crossing my son's arm. I had to physically get up and kill it. When I informed the server, she was very apologetic but the owner did not come out to apologize. The establishment clearly does not take the precautionary measures to ensure there are no bugs in this restaurant. For this reason I will never return. I was so hungry. It was late in the day and I let myself get so hungry, I felt like their was a pit in my stomach. I was so excited about OpaOpa. I waited in anticipation. I could not wait to tear into my food! Man, I was so bummed when I finally did. I ordered the chicken souvlaki, which was dry. I ordered the veggie "K" bob, which was not just charred, but a mixture of limp and burned. The homemade Idaho French fries with feta were also limp and greasy with a handful of feta just tossed into the box. The lemon potatoes had a stale taste. I did enjoy their falafel, which was the perfect texture. Not soggy, not too crispy or burned. This spot, which has the typical Greek fare--gyros, kabobs, hummus, souvlaki, and various appetizers, rates well. On DoorDash, they rate at 4.8. Here on Yelp! many reviewers seem to have similar complaints as mine. Maybe they were just having an off day, or maybe things were busy. Maybe it's the fact that I ordered delivery. I went to OPA OPA today and wowww, i had the most amazing chicken gyro. The chicken was tender, lettuce, and tomato were fresh red onions was spot on and the sauce was delicious. We like Mediterranean food. It's very simple and difficult to mess up but after ordering delivery from OpaOpa, apparently that's now exactly true. We ordered a bunch of food and most of it was, "Meh", as my eldest would say. The food arrived within reason and was warm still but the meat was dry. All of the meat was dry. Hubby had the chicken souvlaki sando. My son had the pork souvlaki sando. My daughter and I shared the chicken souvlaki platter and their grilled shrimp. The shrimp were fine but as I said, all of the meat was super dry. The only thing that really helped was the tzatziki sauce. I also ordered a side of the horta. I've never had this before but the description was intriguing. Horta is a bitter green and they sautée it in oil with lots of garlic. The garlic was plentiful. Luckily, I like garlic but I advise not ordering if you're on a date, unless you're trying to curb the person you're with. It was very oily, practically swimming in oil. Not very appetizing. Our souvlaki platter came with choice of rice or fries, with a salad. I went with fries for the kiddo but they weren't that great. They were kind of cold and hard. OpaOpa NopaNopa If you order the falafel ask for a bucket of water to wash it down with. Has the look of fried playdoh and the texture of curing plaster. You cant swallow even 1/4 of a falafel ball with an 8oz water chaser. Opaopa's understanding of Greek cuisine is just below "hood grocery store" prepared foods section. If the falafel doesn't suck all the moisture out of your tongue and do get around to tasting it, it's a nauseating sort of pea flavor that feels like what a computer might think peas taste like. If I sent this to a lab I would be dumbstruck if it came back that there were even chickpeas in it. Sometimes a restaurant cooking staff can botch a meal, make no mistake the error is in the management trying to save money by purchasing chemical food replacements. The whole menu looks like the sysco manufactured food catalog. One top of everything else, ambience was trash it feels like an ikea food court. And when I opened my take out half the meal was rolling around loosely in the bottom of the bag. It takes a lot for me not to finish a meal but opaopa's falafel plate is inedible. I wonder how many folks choked to death trying to eat a falafel ball whole from here. This restaurant could only serve as a tiktok food challenge asking unknowing participants to try and eat one falafel ball without liquid assistance. Don't come here. Not the best experience here honestly. The place is clean on the inside and has all the normal greek items. The food was overall pretty bland. I had the lamb/beef plate and it is hard for that meat to be underseasoned but it was. My friend got the falafel plate and the falafel was really dry. We also tried the spinach pie which wasn't bad. It had more cheese in jt than spinach with the phyllo being flaky. The tzatziki was ok and comes with the platters. They also have other greek style dips which always are intriguing but I couldn't try them all. As a greek I have had better but this one was serviceable. I will say the platter portions are massive so you won't leave hungry. Nothing stuck out to me here and everything was kind of bland. My godmother lives in Bronxville and first alerted me about OpaOpa's impending opening sometime around the holidays. I don't have much luck when it comes to Greek food, but I figured since it was a new place I would bookmark it to try whenever I was in the area. That opportunity came the other day when one of my friends and I were looking for something to eat - seemed like the perfect opportunity so off we went. I really like the aesthetics of OpaOpa - the space is very open with white tiled walls, simple wooden tables, and blue painted accents on the walls. There's an area to sit and eat as well as a pickup counter for to-go orders. The decor was fun but not over the top - it had a slightly contemporary feel with the color scheme I can't help but assume paying homage to the Greek flag. The menu has a good selection of dishes, though usually when I do Greek I always start out with some sort of dips and pita. This time, we decided to try their tzatziki and hummus. The portions were generous which I appreciated, and they didn't skimp on the pita bread even when we asked for more. I enjoyed the hummus - it had a thicker consistency (which I don't mind) and nice flavor. The tzatziki wasn't the best I've had, it was kind of bland and I was looking for more of a dill and tangy flavor. We also ordered some Kefalograviera cheese which had good flavor and was a nice complement to the dips. The pita was warm and chewy which is just how I like it. For my main I got the stuffed peppers. Again, this was a generous portion - two large peppers stuffed with rice and beef. I also got to choose between rice, fries, and lemon potatoes as a side (I chose the potatoes). The peppers were okay - again kind of bland but I don't fully blame the restaurant for that; I think this kind of dish in general is predisposed to lacking some flavor. The lemon potatoes were quite good - fully cooked through with a lot of lemon flavor. Service was good, they were attentive for the most part and everyone was very nice. Overall, OpaOpa isn't the best Greek I've had in Westchester but they but out a good effort. This place is relatively new, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve over time. I would consider returning here after they get their feet wet a bit. If anything they are bringing more diverse cuisine to Westchester, which we all know is needed. read more

I asked upfront about the gluten-free options and there were plenty of options on the menu. I ended up ordering some beef with yellow potatoes and a side salad. The food was really good, the service was really fast, and I was happy that they were open when many of the restaurants in the area were closed. I love greek food, and I love how the food was prepped, cooked, and served. The restaurant is also very clean and organized. They also had a lot of space for social distancing. The quick answer is it is a 3.5/5-4/5 rating depending on what you order. I took it to go but they do have nice enough outdoor seating as well as polite staff who wears masks. They social distance as well and there are marks on the floor on the inside to stand when paying. It looks clean. I shared the food with my family. The apps were ok but None of it I would get again (zuccini croquet, fried eggplant)... The chicken and pork skewers were the best and fairly priced. If you like sauce/marinated meats this is not the spot for you. The ztatziki sauce is good but does not carry the meal for me. The lamb and beef gyro was good but did not blow me away. The pork slivaki is a 3.5/5. You get 6 pieces a skewer , 4 pita, salad, and get the potatoes over the fries. My family talked mostly about the potatoes and the pita. We used sabra hummus from home instead as the price for their hummus is too high. Sharing skewers became more difficult then you would think. Speaking of sharing, the Opal platter is basically an assortment so I suggest that. You probably won't like everything in it equally. We ordered extra pita and sauce. It felt like the carbs and meat were very drying and left us drinking a lot of water. I could imagine drinking a lot of wine with this meal and it complimenting it well. This is good Greek food but this 1 experience scratched my itch for Greek for at least a solid year. There are better spots to go on a date and I would not surprise my family or romantic partner with delivery or pick up with this food when so many amazing food options are in Westchester. Bronxville is a very nice spot so maybe if you want to upgrade your starbucks coffee date to a meal Without having to pay the arm and leg you would at under hills crossing. It could also be a good starting location to a night for someone who is really into meat skewers/pita. Maybe you want to stroll some quaint shops on a lazy weekend then have lunch here? How about getting dinner here then checking out the cookie shop or ice cream shop or one of the bars after? I am simply not into the dessert options at OpaOpa. This place opened last year in a big corner location. The space is very big, but I dont quite understand the design, seems like its a mix between a fast casual and a fine dining sit down restaurant. I have done dine-in and delivery. The food is ok, not the best greek i've tried. From the different plates, i tend to like the lamb/beef gyro platter. When they make it well, its pretty good. A couple of times that i've ordered it, its way too salty and i cant get through the whole thing. Also tried the hummus, fried meatballs and salads, would pass on those as I didnt think they tasted fresh and salads were mostly lettuce. Gave this place a second try to say it was the last try. Big open space, very cold feeling and in a Saturday afternoon there was only one other table seated besides us. I had a view of the kitchen where I watched the workers handle our food inappropriately. There were no gloves worn and our pita was just thrown on the counter. As I also watched the hostess standing behind the counter with her phone in one hand and biting her nails one by one. Mind you she is standing free for all to see. After I finished my day from work, I placed a decent size order to go . I have been here before with my husband, food for the most part tastes good, no complaints. I didn't check the food, just went home. Boy were we upset when we opened our food. My husband is 100%%% greek. He cooks greek, we travel to Greeece every year, his father used to work in a greek kitchen, his grandmother cooks greeks for us (you get the point) we KNOW greek food! I don't know what happened to this place, nor what kind of food they serve. The bifteki was my biggest dissappointed. It supposed to be a patty, a burger, but they packed us these nasty RAW aweful smelling sticks. We right away called them, and even though the manager was NOT rude or nasty, but it felt like he did not believed us and that we just wanted our money back. He even told us to come back so he can see what we are talking about, but refused to at least compensate us back for that one dish. He ended up giving us a credit, but after we hunged up and we opened the rest of the food, we realized everything was just NASTY! The spinach pie tasted and smelled like fish (they probably cooking everything using the same pots/pans and probably not washing them in between uses. We got a pastisio, the pasta was all dried and old, they probably left it to long in the oven and the paste hardened. My kid ate a few pieces of the ground beef and sauce. We didn't bother calling them again, no point in wasting our time after I wasted $71 bucks . Very unfortunate for this place to have gone down so much. The short (what you really care about my fellow Yelpers): Pros: Food is fantastic. Loved the hummus and their warm yummy pita bread. Just try everything it's a lot of fun...especially the "Lemon Potatoes". Cons: They need to iron out the kinks regarding service, seating, timing, and ordering. Give them time they just opened! Time will tell. Now for the obligatory, overly and annoyingly detailed review: I work in Bronxville often and walk by this location a few times per week so I was excited to see a lot of activity and construction happening in this spot. Months go by and I see them put up a sign...Greek! I was excited, my fiance and I love trying out Greek food as it usually never disappoints. The first review of Opa Opa Fresh that I read on here was an abysmal one star review and I thought..."this can't be" there is no way a brand new place can be so horrid that it deserves one star. So we had to investigate, with our stomachs. (It also fascinated me that I couldn't find a website and their Yelp site was barren, on an opening week!) Fast forward a lot of boring details of my little life and we are standing in the entrance to Opa Opa Fresh and the beautiful subway tile menu and expansive, open, restaurant and sunny hostess welcome us in. What a cool place! You get to order at the front if you want to just grab and go (with some waiting) or you can be seated. Unlike others, we were seated right away. Our waiter was attentive and gave us a full rundown of the menu. So many choices! We settled on the fried eggplant app, Lamb Fricase, and Fried Calamari. Because of the somewhat long wait the house comped us some pita, hummus and small salads. The hummus was fantastic. I make my own and I was struggling to figure out some of the tastes, I could have just enjoyed the hummus all night. The food finally came out and we dug in. Everything was above my expectations and the grilled squid really caught my attention with it's flavorful and pleasant texture. The "lemon potatoes" though stole the show! I would recommend them, get them and thank me later. The three stars as apposed to five comes from a few things. A) the food was fantastic, they have this, which is 50% of the battle B) no website or I couldn't find it, they didn't claim or populate their Yelp and the service was inconsistent and even somewhat awkward when ordering. At one point we realized I ordered the fried calamari but the grilled came instead. It was somewhat recognized by the waiter, he graciously gave us a side of fried calamari so we could "enjoy both" but I was still charged for "grilled"...of course I still ate both, so whatareyagonna do. I chalked it up to growing pains. I know when to move on and enjoy an experience as it comes. C) we asked them to box up all our lovely leftovers and they completely left out the grilled calamari (with its various sides) and we didn't realize it until we got home, that was weird. When Opa Opa set up its Facebook site, I asked when the place would open. I got a very friendly message back when it opened around New Year's. The menu is on Facebook, and I was amazed at the wonderful variety of dishes. I went there for lunch today, and the food was excellent. I met one of the owners Frank, who was very pleasant. The waiter was helpful too. I started with good stuffed grape leaves. An interesting fried cheese dish is the Opa! Saganaki. The waiter pours some cognac over it and lights it with a small torch. The lovely creamy pastitsio is large enough to share. It came with warm pita, small mixed salad, and sides. The lemon potatoes, a specialty of the house, were delicious. Now for dessert! The galaktoboureko is a delicious golden phyllo pastry filled with custard. I hope they will add some more sides to the menu. Potatoes and rice are a bit too heavy with a dish like pastitsio. I'd like to suggest some veggies and fruit, and maybe smaller versions of some of the appetizers. The restaurant is pleasant and clean and the tables and chairs are comfortable. IMHO it could use some colorful pictures on the white walls, Yes, I highly recommend Opa Opa Fresh, and I will be back again soon. read more

Sad to share that my Father's Day delivery order the other day had not one but two long thick pieces of hair in it, in separate dishes. I was so grossed out, and talk about a double whammy when I found the second stand in my salad. This is simply not acceptable especially in light of COVID when exemplary sanitary conditions are even more mission critical for all businesses. It makes me wonder how clean their facilities are if they can allow hair to fall into food orders. I mean come on now, it's cardinal rule number 1 to not let hair enter the food you are serving that people are paying for. I really wanted to love this place but it was the absolute worst Greek I've ever had. On a positive note, the salad was good, great dressing, and the lemon potatoes were delicious. But the main event, the Pastitsio was a crime against food. There was literally no sauce or moisture to this dish. The pasta was a single, dry, clumped together mass and the entire top béchamel portion was stuck to the lid of the to-go container because it didn't adhere to the pasta clump.
