Arrived here around noon, but noticed a handwritten sign on their door stating they were running late. The boat arrived a bit later than anticipated. They have 2 long picnic tables right outside to sit, but other than that it'll likely be takeout. The parking lot is very compact with a 15min time limit. Not sure how strict they are about the 15min limit, but just be courteous so others can also park and enjoy the food! There was already a line when we arrived, so I recommend getting there early. Their poké also tasted so fresh! Their portions are smaller and prices are higher for the amount you get compared to other poké places... but for sure it is quality over quantity here. I'm OK with that. I'm not a huge ahi poké gal, but they didn't have salmon so I just got it with the garlic shrimp. But everything was so delicious! The seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, kimchi, and kimchi mussels were all good. Fairly simple to order: bowl vs plate (1 side for bowl and 2 sides for plate, 2 servings of poké). Brown vs white rice. Top shelf: sides. Bottom shelf: poké. They also offer a variety of sauces for your poké. They are all pretty good, but my favorite was the avocado aioli. The wet Hawaiian and Pele's kiss were also good per family. Definitely worth trying and repeating. Personally, I prefer this poké place over Pau Hana Poké. Went again recently, and it just wasn't as good as I remembered from previous years. The price has gone up A LOT, but obviously in this economy, so has everything else, so that's not really their fault. It's now $50 for their poke plate. A 1/2 pound is $15, which isn't terrible if you just want poke and nothing else. I don't remember the poke being chopped up so thinly. It's basically minced, which isn't great. We got poke from one of the local farmer's markets the day before, and it was chopped up into big chunks, which I liked much better. I don't think I'll come back, unfortunately. read more

For $50, four scoops of poke and two sides is a stretch. The sides were limited even though I went around noon, which makes no sense at that price point. I honestly could not believe the line out the door waiting for this. There are so many other places offering the same quality, if not better, for way less. She seemed to have no patience for the customers. However, the poke was very delicious! I ordered the poke bowl ($22) with the Spicy Garlic and Shack Special, with Seaweed Salad and Brown Rice. I like spicy, so the Spicy Garlic had the perfect amount of kick to it. I definitely liked it more than the Shack Special. I prefer my poke to be savory than sweet. I also ordered half a pound of the Kalua Pork to take home back to the mainland! It was soooooo good!!! Ordered half a pound of the Spicy Garlic poke too! Yum! Stopped by Da Poke Shack during a Kona day trip and happy to report -- the quality of fish is still excellent as always. We ordered a plate with four choices of poke for $40. It's definitely steep, but honestly pretty in line with fresh fish prices in Hawaiʻi. We stopped by Da Poke Shack in Kona because we'd heard a lot about their poke. The first time we went, they were already closed for the day. We came back the next day and ordered the ahi poke. The fish itself was definitely fresh, but the portion felt a bit small for the price. The cubes of ahi were cut much smaller than other poke I've had, which threw off the balance of fish to sauce. I kept seeing recommendations for Da Poke Shack and it was absolutely amazing! I got there around 10 am on a Wednesday and there was no line. My boyfriend and I decided to get some poke after a fun day of parasailing! We were recommended Da Poke Shack, and it did not disappoint, we got a plate which came with either: white/brown rice, 2 from top shelf (i.e wakame salad, edamame, lomi salad, etc), and 4 bottom shelf (different pokes). This shack is a very small space so there isn't much room nor tables inside the shop to sit and eat. There are 2 benches outside with an umbrella but it is hard to find seating since it is first come first serve basis and most people would like to sit under the umbrella and where it shades, so good luck finding a seat. The poke prices have come up a bit since I last came here, but hasn't everything gone up quite a bit, especially the last 4 years? Inflation is killing us all! The day I came here, I ended up getting a poke bowl with spicy garlic ahi, taegu, kim chee, & brown rice. To wash down my poke bowl, I got a bottled water. All of this plus tip set ya back $23 bucks and some change. Considering it fresh poke (not frozen), the prices here are very reasonable (as compared to prices on Oahu). Da Poke Shack is more of a grab & go kinda joint. There is very limited seating if you choose to dine here, but they do have two large covered picnic tables by the front entrance of the shop, as well as a small bar type table inside the shop. Service here is friendly & on point. If you do come here, may I suggest you go early (like when they first open), as they get supah busy here!
