Ecstatic that Shake Shack is in the Portland metro area. I waited for a bit since they opened so they could work out the kinks and I'm glad I did. The ordering tablets are very easy to use and I love that you can totally customize your food. Order came back to us in a jiffy (waited maybe 5 min) and it was brought to our table. I had a chicken sandwich that was amazing. Super moist and crunchy at the same time. My friend had a burger and it was also great. Well, with all the burger choices in the area it took me a while to get around to finally trying Shake Shack. The place looks cool. It's clean. Has a decent menu. The food is just a touch above average in my opinion. Fries are barely average. If you're looking for a good burger and great fries I don't think Shake Shack comes even close to Five Guys. Again, just my opinion. The Shack does serve other items, chicken, hot dogs. Seems a little more kid friendly than Five Guys. Anyway, you won't be unhappy with this place. I was excited to finally try out the Shake Shack outside of New York (Manhattan to be exact) but was clearly disappointed in my experience outside the big Apple. I ordered the Smokeshack, Avocado Bacon and Black Truffle. I kind of messed up on my order and wanted to get two of the Smokeshacks but my wife ordered the same so she offered to give me half of hers when we got home. They have two separate lines (kiosk for to go orders where they will send you a text message alerting you that your order is ready for pick-up and a 2nd line for dine-in). The flavors were good and all and meat party delicious but when I got half of my wife's burger, I asked her where's the other half? These dang burgers are so tiny for the price I paid for them ($7+ ea). They are almost the size of a Burger King Whopper Jr. Even the parmesan garlic fries were 1/4th the size of a regular fry. Horrible milkshakes I ordered banana pudding shake worst milkshake no banana taste. Not worth buying.

I've been here twice now, and each time it's fallen short. First off, it's always dirty in here. I never see tables wiped down, or where the ketchup is.. it's always just a little gross. I'd also recommend taking it home as the dining inside is cramped, uncomfortable and again it's dirty. The line does move quick, but I recommend you do an order "to go" regardless of dining in or out. The to go orders seem to go quickly whereas the dine in took nearly 30 mins to receive. The food falls short. It's neither good nor bad. It's just.. food. I'd also say for those who need it, this is not an accessible place. The parking lot lacks handicapped parking. (The lot is actually a disaster) and the iPads you would order off are much to high for wheelchair access. The store also lacks space for a chair to ease through and there are not many options for seating besides in the center in a crowded, cramped area! read more

Here's the real...I don't do lines and I am not into trendy. I was not a fan of waiting in a line with a pile of I don't know where you have been people pre-pandemic. I liked the look of this spot except for the insane line out the building. I find a lot of the reviews amusing since it looks like people are waiting in crazy long lines for nasty food. I have been getting a lot of Ubereats deliveries and had never seen Shake Shack as an offering till the other day. When I saw it there I just knew I needed to jump on that. I actually have not seen it since! I was almost expecting to be disappointed and shockingly I wasn't. I decided to get a standard burger with some bacon action and I suspect that they put crack in their sauce because wow, that was one tasty freaking burger - genuinely that was actually one of the best burgers I have had in memory. I also grabbed a hot dog which was very good. Their crinkle cut fries were quite good. I am curious to try a shake - this round I got the vanilla and chocolate custard which was rich and delicious. I look forward to grabbing this again sometime. On a Friday evening around 5:30 my minion and I decided to give Shake Shack a try. Minion went in to order ( from a kiosk, which he liked) and 15- 20 minutes later came out with the goods, which we took back to eat while we watched "October Faction" on Netflix. ( The show gets a 3 btw, like many Netflix shows it just missed the mark). I am giving Shake Shack a 3.75 on the point scale. We got two chicken sandwiches, two black and white shakes, and one crinkly fries. They gave us two ketchup packets. The shakes were good , creamy and thick, but did not have whipped cream and sprinkles like in the pictures I have seen. Both chicken sandwiches were good, albeit small. Mine had avocado that was very good. The crinkly fries were just ok. ( I like Del Taco fries). All in all it was a worthwhile, if expensive experiment. I do not know that I would go back. The burger wars are heating up. Finally had a chance to stop by shake shack to try some of their menu. I've been dreaming of this far out east coast joint. Mobile app pick up is available but sometimes it's faster just to stop by The restaurant is very well organized with lots of seating, spacious and modern. The food Shackburger - burger flavor is very good, juicy meatiness that tastes fresh off the grill. All the veggies and toppings are just the right amount. The bun holds is all together and shake shack did this ingenious design where one side is left unsliced like a hot dog bun. This helps hold all the ingredients. There are no juices or beef fat dripping out when you bite in. Overall good flavor. The size is very small. Like a McDonald's regular hamburger size. And that's the main issue. The price point of $5+ you can get a burger from burger stevens , Red Robin and get more value. Hot chicken Sandwich - chicken is all the craze. How does this hold up against Popeyes, basilisk , Wendy's , McD's? The heat is just the right amount. But the breading and chicken tenderness is a fail. It was dry and you can chew through the muscle fibers of the chicken breast. The breading was mushy. Not crispy. Again the bun and overall size is not worth $7+ you can get a better chicken sando at other places around town. Fries- the crinkle cut is something you'd find at a country fair. They are crispy but the batch I had were dry and stale. Not overly fried, but not fresh either. The cheese fries weren't much different. If the fries were fresh, not soggy and had the light crispness, then you'd have something worth eating. The cheese sauce was gooey and like Kraft singles flavor. Desserts, shakes and collabs with milk bar / Christina tossi- oh that legendary momofuku / milk bar establishment is everywhere. The combinations here are designed for those childhood memories of cake and soggy cereal. The cornflake drizzle was just that, milky cream soft serve with cornflakes slightly crunchy and soggy. The chocolate drizzle bringing me back to Saturday mornings letting my soggy cornflakes soak and pouring the Hershey's chocolate syrup all over. The milk bar recipe development captures childhood nostalgia perfectly. It's a little whacky. Like a carefully crafted soft serve portrait would have been better than blended soggy cereal. Shake shack still can make some adjustments. It's just overpriced and taste wise is just slightly better than other fast food burgers and fries. read more

I've been a big fan of Shake Shack for a while now so I've been here many times. My husband and I came here on a rather busy Sunday afternoon, so we decided to order through the app and placed a pick up order while waiting inside the restaurant. When we placed the order, the app gave us an estimated time of when the order was ready. To my surprise, the estimate time was spot on! We got our food right when we expected it. I ordered a Shack Burger with a lettuce bun. The lettuce was a lot more than I expected but it still kept the overall flavor of the burger which was nice. The fries came in this cute box which made it so easy to eat out of. I also tried the Mango Passionade. Both the mango and passionfruit flavors were very prominent, it was the perfect drink to round out my meal. read more

Our absolute favorite burgers and frozen custard!! Whenever we travel, we always look for a Shake Shack and we always order the shack stack. It's a cheeseburger topped with a mushroom that's stuffed with cheese then battered and fried, lettuce, tomato, and their shack sauce. The actual patty is probably about 4oz but it's loaded with flavor and has a slight crisp. My son and husband really like their bacon and cheese fries. Their crinkle cut fried are crispy and fresh. Their frozen custard are amazing. The limited time lime agave margarita was so refreshing. I can't really speak of location since I'm familiar with the area but it was easy to find. The stop lights getting here have cameras on them so make sure you're strapped in and not running any red lights. They have kiosks you can order on for take out. For dine in, you will need to stand in line. The line can get long but they are very efficient so it moves fast. The dining staff were very friendly and always made sure that everything was clean. On that note, their restrooms were clean too. I've seen some pretty filthy restrooms in Portland so this one definitely exceeded my expectations. If you're craving for burgers, this is the place. Honestly, I didn't fine Shake Shack anything spectacular. The food overall was mediocre. The cost is overpriced for the size of the food items. I'm not quite sure what the hype is exactly all about. Shake Shack is comparable is Burgerville or Super Deluxe. We order 2 shack burgers, chick'n bites, fries and lemonade drink. We opted out on the shakes. SHACK BURGER - it was a decent burger. Nothing special. [$6.19] CHICK'N BITES - miny tiny pieces of chicken. It was moist and crispy. The Shack sauce that came with it has a bug inside. Luckily ketchup was provided for the fries. [$4.99 for 6pcs] FRIES - can't go wrong with salted crinkle fries. [$3.15] POMEGRANATE LEMONADE WITH YUZU - it tasted like a lemonade though the 2 flavors didn't mix well to my liking. Finally decided to brave the lines at Oregon's 1st Shake Shack. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was no line on a Saturday for lunch! (Although a line did form later.) I've been to SS in Vegas, and the main draw for me is the frozen custard, which is scarce in this area. Shakeburger: 4.5/5 The patty was nicely smashed and crispy, yet juicy, and the grilled bun was nice and soft! Although the lettuce and tomato did not add much, the cheese and sauce made it a tasty, crave-quenching burger. Fries: Fresh and crispy. The crinkles are great for picking up katchup. You can order with no salt if you like. Vanilla Custard: so rich and creamy! I like enjoying it plain, although the milkshakes are also yummy. There is outdoor seating with lights and heat that is dog-friendly. There's a water bowl, and one of the workers even brought out treats for the dogs! Our food took about 20 minutes. read more

I can't figure out why this chain gets such phenomenal reviews. I was wholly unimpressed. Let's start with the fries. They are of the machine-made crinkle-cut variety. For the price they charge, you'd think they'd have better quality. To make matters worse, I ordered the cheese fries, which had about half a squirt of a Cheese Whiz-like concoction on them. The fries get an 'F.' Next, the name of this place is a complete fraud. A restaurant with the word 'Shake' in its name should have more shake choices than the half-dozen or so offered here. And whatever happened to shakes so thick you'd practically get a hernia trying to suck them through the straw. This place seems to have forgotten them. The 'Black & White' shake I ordered didn't even have much flavor. Shakes get a 'D.' Finally, the burger. The patties get an upvote because they appear not to be factory-made, but what could have been a plus turns into a minus because of the way they were cooked. Too well done. The buns are also nothing special. I'll give the burgers a middling 'C." The computer ordering could also be more straightforward. And parking -- at least at this location -- is a nightmare. Would get again. Not much to explain- great seasoned cheeseburger with avocado on it. Crinkle cut fries - this is a step up from other fast food burger places... really good! Also option for cheese fries and bacon cheese fries. Got a mango lemonade as well. Tart and tasty. Overall a great experience even with the long line. Hmmm...this is our second location to try...in our opinion...over priced! Just opened 5 days ago. Only 1 hour wait outside in line until food arrived. All staff were so friendly and they cleaned between diners. Great outdoors patio and a few tables inside. Apparently you could order on the app but there were no more spots available tonight. The shakes are five stars...seasonal strawberry rhubarb and chocolate pudding were fantastic! Creamy and thick...the paper straws didn't suck well...wish I brought my metal one. Unfortunately, $3 for a small boat of crinkle fries were way overpriced, and $4 for a teeny squirt of liquid cheese and $5 for a dusting of bacon were just overpriced. The burgers are thin and smashed...a little crispy on the edges. Super thin...not worth the money. Chicken filet was thick and crispy. Glad they came to town. The line was finally short enough that we decided to try this place. I had the smoke shack and the shack burger and my fiancé had the avocado burger. This is my first time eating Shake shack and the burgers were OK. The bun had some kind a flavor hint to it and it held everything together pretty well. Otherwise the three burgers I had basically all tasted exactly the same. The cherry milkshake I got was pretty good but there was too much pop rocks so it was hard to just drink normally. read more

I visited Shake Shack last week, end of May 2024, and thought the burger was excellent. I ordered their basic cheese burger, extra crunchy fries and a large root beer. It was my first time so I walked in to what seemed like an endless line of customers. I quickly understood that all of the people had already ordered and were waiting for their food. Which meant I was next in line. The restaurant was packed with only a few remaining empty tables available but my order was to go. It seemed like a pretty long wait for my food but the staff were ALL extremely busy filling orders and delivering to those seated. My order was called and when I checked it my fries were not crispy so I sent them back for a re-fry. They were hot and crunchy on the re-fry and were done perfectly. Hats off to the staff that never had a moment of down time. They really work hard and were very helpful and kind. read more

This is an update to my previous review. Today I ordered through the Shake Shack app. It is pretty user-friendly... I like that. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and the crinkle fries. It was ready within 10 minutes which is pretty great for just after lunch hour at approximately 1:10 PM. When I went inside it was ready to go in a bag in the pick up area. I guess I should've checked everything before I left the area because the cheeseburger did not have bacon on it nor did it have pickle which was requested. Since I wasn't extremely far away I tried calling the location and selected the option to talk to someone. It said that it was transferring me to a manager and then I went into a recording that they were busy helping customers. Too bad there wasn't any way to contact someone directly so I went to the app and filled out the form stating what was wrong with my order. It said that somebody would get back to me. I am really hoping a quality control process is in stated here cause I like the quality of their food. They use good meat, non-GMO potato buns and so on. I will see if they respond. :-( read more

I moaned with happiness the whole time I ate this burger. I have no idea what people are complaining about. Yes, In and Out is wonderful but it tastes like hamburger and this burger tastes like a steak. It was surprisingly affordable too, but then when I got it, I realized it was surprisingly small, about the size of a regular McDonald cheeseburger, just fatter. Came to this place a couple of times. Fries are always lackluster and super stale. Burgers are decent but nothing too special. If i do decide to get a burger, the double patties are much better. Picked up a burger here a couple weeks ago on my work break on a Sunday. I just got the Shack Burger and buffalo spiced fries. I ordered it on their website for a later pick up time. The whole process was super easy and I didn't have to wait at all. I got there a little before my pick up time and waited a couple of minutes before they texted me that my order was ready for pick up. I went in the back door, picked it up and went back to work. As for this new location, you're gonna expect the popularity and long long line. And if I recall, they're known for their "shakes". So just keep that in mind. Here's the goods: ~ Smoke Shack ($7.49), a single burger with applewood smoked bacon and cherry peppers. No way did I want a double of this, but I should have haha! Although I wish the bacon was bigger. It's still a pretty clean decent tasting burger. Not overly greasy as well. ~ Double Shack Burger ($8.79), a normal Shack Burger with an extra pattie. Now this is what you need to try if you've never been here. The veggies on it seemed fresh enough to me. Just keep the burger wrapped up while biting into it, and it'll stay together. Definitely bigger than the Smoke Shack. ~ Cheese Fries ($4.09), or crinkle cut fries with a slice of melted cheese. Eh, this was nothing special to me imo. Pass! ~ Black&White Shake ($5.49), "Did you just order a five dollar shake?" Gotta love Pulp Fiction! THIS is what you come here for people! I don't know what it is, but this place knows its shakes. SHAKE Cinnamon deliciousness. Loved the addition of cinnamon in a shake, as it is like my favorite dessert ingredient. The little chunks of cinnamon crumble was a little salty too which added a fun element to the sweet treat. Will get again SHACK We tried the new bourbon burger and the shack burger. Hands down without a question, the staple is a staple for a reason. We liked it so much we wished we just got two of the same. Happy we tried the new flavor however. But it was really rich? Like a littttttle much. It's made with makers mark and had lots of carmelized onions and cheese. Sounds amazing right? But it was just ALOT The crinkles were legittttt here. I think that's where the big debate stems from. Since In N Out fries are something to be desired sometimes, especially if you don't get them animal style. I think shake shack takes the fries on this one. Would have loved a "special sauce" to dip them in, but there wasn't any. A litttttle spendy for a burger joint imo. The limited time mango passion fruit juice is a must. Do I need to say more, I mean, mango passionfruit people! Overall, will definitely be back if I'm in the area craving a burger.
