I went here for for the first time for Portland hot dog week. Super good hot dog w a little snap to it and good flavor. It was wrapped in a smashburger patty, drizzled w cheese and sautéed onion in a hot dog bun. I also ordered a jr smashy boi, French fries and a root beer. Everything was rly good, very filling, not expensive, good flavor, quick to prepare, and friendly service. They're tucked in a brew co parking lot, so while I took mine home to eat, some ppl ate theirs at the outdoor picnic tables or took it inside the brew co. which seems like a nice option to have. When I got my food I had forgotten to order extra sauce/ranch on the side-- the guy gave me some on the house bc he said it was his birthday. My Son took me here (along with Uptown Beer next door) while singing MidCity as as having the best Smashburger in Portland. As I had no frame of reference, I went along, and found my burger (and fries) choice to be very fresh and flavorful. One other pleasant surprise was that David paid for it, while I hosted the drinks over at Uptown. The food came out hot and fairly quickly. Service was efficient (from the other side of the window) and of course Portland casual. Places like this are right up my alley. read more

We stopped in for Portland Mercury's Wiener Week to try their "Frank Gallagher" creation, and it was a total hit! Inspired by the character from Shameless, this hot dog was a beast; it featured a seared coney wiener topped with a smash patty, grilled onions, American cheese, nacho cheese, and their incredible SmashSauce, all tucked into a toasted potato roll. It was a tasty, indulgent mash-up and definitely worth the trip. We also ordered the crinkle-cut fries with a side of nacho cheese; the fries were a good size and nice and crispy, though they did need a little extra salt. The nacho cheese was okay on its own; however, in hindsight, we should have grabbed an extra side of that SmashSauce instead! This location has a ton of outdoor seating and shares a great space with Uptown Beer Co., making it a perfect spot to hang out with a pint. We came here for Portland Mercury's Weiner week to try their special hot dog. It did not disappoint. It was a smash burger with a hot dog on top!! It was covered with cheese, nacho cheese, grilled onions and smash burger sauce on top of a potato bun. The smash sauce is so tasty! We also tried the Cluck boi. It's basically a chicken finger on a squishy bun with delicious smash sauce and pickles. Perfect size for that in between lunch and dinner meal. The crinkle fries were ok, they needed salt and were a little dry. We ordered the nacho cheese which was not great. I wish I would have ordered the smash sauce to dip my fries in. read more

Wife and I did one smash and one nugget. Plus fries with cheese. We both were vomiting when we got home. Food poisoning Smash burger was a salt bomb with extra grease and the nuggets weee old oil. Fries were soft and missy with a sauce that left a lot to be desired. Then the best part was the vomiting at home after we left. Food poisoning Last time was 2023/2024 it was good. It's nice that this location is 5 mins from our new house. We got the Jr. Smashy, Smashy, & reg fries with a side of cheese sauce. The fries and cheese sauce were great! I'm glad I gave this location a try because I tried the other location and it wasn't my fave. But the fries today, from this location were so yummy and the cheese sauce made me very happy. :) Next time I think I'll try the Deluxe Boi. It's nice that this location is next to a Bar. I went on a weekday lunch time and ordered the deluxe burger with fries and beer. They give you a beeper, so you are free to go inside while waiting for the burger. The beer token was for Binary Brewing beer only, but because there wasn't a lot of choice, he let me pick any draft beer (thanks Uptown!). The burger was just OK, nothing exceptional. If I'm hanging out at the Uptown Beer and wanted something to eat, I would not hesitate in ordering here. It's located right at their parking lot, so super convenient. But I definitely don't think it's the best burger in Portland nor would I go out of the way for it. The only thing that irks me is that the *lowest* tip option is 20% (the other is 25 & 30) for essentially self-serve food cart. read more

UPDATED REVIEW! We went back to Mid City Smash Burger and it's been excellent. Ian is an awesome chef and our family loved the burgers. I don't always like the overcooked smashed burger style if they are too well done. But Ian has been great at cooking em so they are still flavorful and juicy. I've never tried fries with sauce or cheese on them, always had plain ones before, but these fries are incredible! The burgers are amazing too, but the fries are my favorite because they're just so flavorful with the perfect amount of spiciness for even someone who doesn't like very spicy things! I got the deluxie boi and the burger patty itself had a great texture and taste. Fantastic crisp edges and bold flavor. It was complemented well by the condiments and extras- I especially liked how much crunch the pickle slices had. I'll definitely be back but hopefully next time there's parking. While I can absolutely appreciate the food cart experience as much as any Portlander can, I find myself easily subtracting one star because the service was ehhh okay. I really hate to say that bc I'm sure the cook was trying his best! But I definitely did expect a "hello, how are you?" when I walked up the window... the two burgers and fries took 30 minutes (understandable), and the open seating was outside, covered. I actually feel sorry for the other burger spots, because this IS THE BEST BURGER IN PORTLAND. I said what I said. I dream about this burger- I might be going through burger withdrawls as I type this. For six buckeroonies (ok but leave a tip, duh) you too can can enjoy a smashy boi- a crispy crunchy sandwich of perfection. But bring that extra allowance, because this bad boi is best accompanied with crinkle cut fries and smash sauce. I personally choose to wash it down with a brewski from uptown, but you do you boo. Some things to consider about this place is that its next to a bar, so this is basically a burger and beer thing. I think this a good place to base the standard of smash burgers on. Its not amazing, its not bad. If a burger is worst than this, its bad. If its better, its good ? does that makes sense ? Its perfectly vanilla. I dont think its possible to be disappointed and there is true value to that in consistency. read more

I was very sad to see sure shot burgers food truck leave this area. It was replaced by a chicken wing truck that didn't do anything for me. Got very excited to hear another smash burger place was coming in (can't figure out their name, signs say midcity smashedburger, website just says SmashBurger) anyways, burger was great! Went on New Year's Day with just 3 people in line in front of us and waited 40 MINUTES (luckily with a good cider from inside...but STILL too long) only to get two NOT HOT (how???) burgers. Friendly staff but wow guys, you've gotta figure out how to speed things up. I can't imagine trying this place when crowded. It was good, but fresh, hot and gooey would have made it truly great. Will try some more smashed burger places and see if we can do better. read more

I thought about getting the fish but my daughter "It's a BURGER place!" - talked me into trying the burger, and I'm glad I did. This is a food truck, so how much ambiance can be had with a food truck? I can say that it was clean and looked nice, for a food truck. I got the regular smash burger with bacon and it was pretty terrific. This, coming from someone who isn't a big burger fan. The server/cook was nice and helpful. What you would expect from a smash burger joint. Great tasting burgers cooked to order and good fries. My wife and son tried the Clucky Boi chicken sandwich and were happy with it. It's a small trailer next to a pub, not a sit-in restaurant. They give you a pager so you can sit in the pub or your car instead of standing in the weather while you wait for your food. read more

This has become my go-to for smash burgers! We are hooked now and probably come here at least 1-2 times per week. When the previous burger cart left, I found my self driving to MCB on the east side... Needless to say, I was super stoked when they opened up just down from my house. Uptown beer is also an awesome spot, great to grab a beer while waiting for my Smashy Boi's! Bonus points for offering the "bag o burgers" special!! read more
