This is a difficult review to write. Or complicated. I attended a Yelp event held at Shaker's Cigar Bar and had an excellent time. The bar itself is quite the spot to check out if you are visits or a local who hasn't been yet. Much larger than I imagined. Lots of rooftop space with a nice view of Milwaukee. So much to investigate around the main floor of the bar, a good selection of cigars, nicely made cocktails, and an impressive amount of character and charm. However, I was, frankly, disturbed and astonished to see that Shaker's sells, among other standard bar merchandise, a shirt featuring the mug shot of Jeffrey Dahmer. I recognize that Dahmer is Milwaukee's (likely) most infamous serial killer. But this glorification of a murderer who preyed upon young, marginalized, BIPOC, LGBTQAI+ men shows a significant lack of empathy for the victims and their families, as well as for the queer community of Milwaukee. This type of "murderabilia" is disrespectful, retraumatizing, and harmful. Sigh. It's too much for me.

We had an amazing evening last night at Shakers. From the moment you walk in the door, you can feel the history. It was once owned by the Capone family, and it said to be haunted. Original floors, ceiling, and so many amazing details. If you love history, you would love this place. Now, mind you it is a cigar bar. So, there is a distinct smell of cigars. That can be remedied by going to their amazing rooftop bars. Three terraces to choose from amazing food, amazing views, amazing cocktails. They also have burying ghost tours that you can take. Amazing vibe, amazing people. So, especially if you're into cigars, this is your place!

Service was great. Food was above average. Environment was amazing. Felt ghost tour was knowledgeable but a bit pricey. Would go back again. Wouldn't elect to do ghost tour again though

What a historic find! This bar was once owned by the Capone brothers during Prohibition operating as a speakeasy and brothel. Currently, the bar operates as a full service cigar shop, has live music and even ghost tours. There does appear to be a full food menu as well, however my group did not have any. Speaking of ghost tours, my group did the "hangman" sponsored ghost tour and learned all about Jeffrey Dahmer and his ties to the MKE area. I cannot stress this tour/ offering enough. Our tour guide Miranda was fantastic and well spoken. She was helpful and knowledgeable in all areas. With this tour, there are small discounted items on merchandise and drinks. Minus the smell of cigars, this is certainly worth the visit at most to see and if time permits, I would take advantage of the full experience and schedule a ghost tour because it ties the entire building and theme together. Note: the women's bathroom was adorably cute.

Shakers Cigar Bar is a must stop spot whenever I visit Milwaukee. They have some of the best drinks, a cool atmosphere, and really good light bites. I love the history of this place and you can even take a tour. There are so many different areas to hang out and my favorite is the rooftop, which has multiple levels. You can easily spend a good amount of time here. I visit at least once a year and the owner recognizes us, which is awesome. We have had some of our best times in this spot.

I recently took part in Shaker's Ghost tour with a small group. Shakers is one of those iconic Milwaukee places that you just have to visit and soak in at least once. I knew it's a cigar bar so I wasn't excited to be engulfed by smoke but hey, that's part of the experience. Be prepared to change out of clothes or get some fresh air if you're super sensitive to smoke. All was well with the tour itself, we were given an outdoor portion and an indoor portion of the tour. It was one of the longer, more personal tours I've been on. Our tour guide was great. We were able to order drinks during a break from the tour. They were tasty. I do wish they offered more food or snack options. It does get pretty crowded in the evenings and I am a non-smoker, so I will probably stick to the rooftop to get some fresh air and enjoy some drinks.

Came here looking for ghosts, left having had one of the most delicious carrot cakes and pretty darn good espresso martinis. The vibes of the bar are fun and it was fairly crowded for a Wednesday night. It took quite a bit to get served after ordering (our cake came after we finished our first drink) so just come on nights where you may not be in a rush but I will for sure be back!

This is a cool place. Interesting back story, decent cigar selection. Vibe was chill, pizza was awesome (I had the Redondo) and the service was top notch. Little pricey, but for me- worth it for the experience and service. I came for the cigars but will return for that pizza, the service and the experience.

I could literally spend all night here! There are THREE rooftops and beautiful views of Milwaukee and the Hoan bridge. The vibe could go either way; chill or party. My sister and I had so much fun here, the servers were attentive and prompt. The drinks and food were delicious! I'm very interested in the ghost tours as well! This is the new spot to be this summer, laid back but such a vibe and fun!

    Dirty martini and cigar

Britney made us delicious drinks and made the whole experience at Shaker's fantastic. Her amazing bartending combined with the lounge's intimate ambiance made for a great night. Britney did a really fabulous job at creating a warm atmosphere for everyone. Great filthy martini! 5 stars!!! Thank you for the wonderful service Britney!!

This place is just amazing!! They have an awesome menu, McKenna our server had a lot of stories to tell us about the bar. And its history just fits the ambiance of its history!! Great cigar selection with both indoor and outdoor seating, you have to try this place

Their crappy vodka that they charge $40 a martini for.
    Jamie J.

Was charged $40 for a martini! How the hell is that even possible. Especially when the best vodka they have is some Russian crap that's 26 bottle retail. American. Spend your money in time elsewhere. This place is a joke.

They vary the featured cocktails menu every 8 weeks, so most likely you'll get a different experience every time you go. However you can always get your classic cocktails like Margaritas, French 75 and Martinis. They also can do any drink NA which is the first of its kind in the US. They have an option called dealers choice, where you can pick the spirit and flavor profile of the drink you want: spicy, sour, floral, smoky etc. no limits! You write down on a card what you want and they craft you a cocktail based on your selections. They also offer a variety of food pairings to go along with the select, featured drink you order. We got spring rolls, a braised, pork infused doughnut, and an incredible bone broth that still has me in a tizzy. Fair warning: it's small and difficult to get a reservation - don't try your luck walking in, this place is a hot ticket and you won't be able to get in without a resy, which could be weeks or months out. This is a true gem of a cocktail bar, and is as good as anything you would find in New York or Chicago.

We stopped here after dinner, so we stuck mostly with the cocktails. Unfortunately, nothing on the seasonal menu really stuck out to me. I stuck with the "traditional" cocktails (spicy watermelon bubblegum, and then banana daiquiri). Hubs went for the halo halo food (which was so cute! All the typical ingredients but served in cubist fashion), and the paired drink. The paired drink was supposed to have different layers of flavor, but they all mixed together quite a bit. Tasty, just not the "layered" experience we thought. I think they almost do themselves a disservice comparing themselves to the aviary - that is a crazy high bar to meet. Granted, maybe we would have been more impressed if we had more of the seasonal cocktails despite them not seeming interesting? Probably wouldnt go out of my way to go here again, but it is a cool vibe and the cocktails were good.

While the menu is limited and not cheap, staff were very friendly and walked us through everything before we selected a couple of things to try. Pretty much all of the cheeses and accoutrements were fantastic! One of the cheese on our plate was the espresso version of Bellavitano, which happens to be one of my favorites, so that was a nice little bonus for me. In addition to the board, we also went with the ricotta bites, which featured one sweet and one savory option, both of which we also really liked. The shop is cozy and if this was somewhere that I lived walking distance from, I could totally see myself coming here fairly regularly and having a little cheese and ambiance. During our time there we saw both couples on dates and old friends gathering for a drink and a nosh, all of which I found just wonderful. Really the only thing keeping this from a five star review was that the side items, such as the crackers were not plentiful enough for the cheese. I know that ratio can be hard to nail but it was not quite on the mark here, unfortunately. However, that would not be enough to prevent me from returning!
