Took the family here for a birthday weekend in January and was blown away by the location and the unit. Perfect for what we need on a beach trip with the family and dog). The property feels like a retreat with a lovely atmosphere that feels a world apart from Long Beach despite being so close in proximity to town. We didn't have time to make full use of the pool, sauna, or pickleball courts - but these amenities would be perfect for a rainy day at the coast and when we come back we'll make more time in our schedule to use them. Check-in/check-out was a breeze and staff was very pleasant. They let me borrow a lighter for a birthday cake which was much appreciated! The walk to the beach is very scenic and beautiful in itself. We've been coming to Lighthouse 1-2 times a year for twelve years. We love the proximity to the beach, the fact that it's very dog friendly, there's a huge indoor pool, and most of all, we love that there is a kitchen so we can make our own meals. Prior to this visit, the rooms were fairly basic, but very adequate. Today, we arrived to find a beautifully updated room, that feels much bigger and much cleaner than they previously were. We have new appliances, new countertop and backsplash, new floors, a larger couch, a huge king bed, a walk-in shower with a new vanity, and everything is just stunning. Very well done! From the bottom units, you have a small deck with a bench, and upper units have a balcony. All rooms overlook the dunes, and the higher ones can catch you a glimpse of the ocean. You spend the evening listening to the roar of the waves. It's so relaxing. In the main office area, you'll find a recreation room, vending machines, and espresso stand with good coffee, and a huge saline pool that's in a solarium type of building. Their fitness center is small but it's something. They love dogs, and it shows. You'll get a welcome pack for your mutt, and there's a lighthouse themed dog house in the parking lot that you can take pictures of your dog with. There's two TVs - you can stream from your device in the bedroom, or watch cable in the living room. You'll have a gas fireplace, a lounge chair, a couch that folds out into a bed with a nice, squishy mattress, and a two person dining table. The staff here have been here a long time, and it's always nice to see a familiar face when we arrive. Shout out to Kevin! Always friendly and helpful. It's about a five minute drive to downtown Long Beach, where you'll find a bakery, an arcade, and lots of shops and restaurants. Don't forget you can even drive on the beach! The views are incredible, and it's a well-maintained, friendly, quiet property nestled behind the dunes. I have rented several of the ridge cottages over the past 15 years or so... used to bring the kids here when they were younger but have enjoyed the one bedroom Ridge Cottage units on my own since. This past week I rented for two nights and found that after a few years since I visited.. that the price was higher and that the check in time was 4PM... so that my first day payment was for an 8 hour stay.. A two night stay is 48 hours but I ended up paying for 32 hours with 16 hours, I guess to allow the rooms to be cleaned?? I din't find the staff to be as friendly as years past and I thought of staying a third night.. but in end felt that 120$ was more than I wanted to pay for what I would be getting regarding a stay there. I used to love coming to this place. It's a bummer that after 15 years of visits we've had such bad service and a bad experience here...

We just spent a couple of nights in Unit #204, one of the 2-bedroom/1.5 bath townhouses on the beach. My family and I have been to The Lighthouse a half-dozen times over the past 10 years or so. The location cannot be beat, with a 270-degree view of the coast, within sight/sound of the breakers. Mid-week, out-of-season, the price was about $300 per night. For that price, I have some notes: 1. Window coverings--mini-blinds, mostly--are showing their age, as is the screen door to the deck (and the deck itself is in need of refinishing, too). The slider to the deck has some mysterious trick to actually locking, which we finally gave up on (second-floor deck, so minimal risk to leaving it unlocked). Room-darkening curtains in the bedrooms (which would also improve the privacy) would be helpful. 2. Kitchen cabinets (lowers, particularly) are in need of refinishing (bath cabs, especially in the full bath, could use some attention, too). If I understand correctly, the units were built in 1989, and there's some deferred maintenance that needs to be performed. Formica counters everywhere, but we don't need marble/quartz to be happy--but the formica is starting to show its age. 3. A bench for removing shoes, and coat-hooks in the entryway would be nice. A footstool for the armchair in the corner, too. 4. There used to be some artwork in the bathrooms, I remember. Nothing now, though. Did someone pilfer them? Also, no collection of paperbacks, board games, etc. (but we brought our own entertainment). 5. The electronic front door-lock developed a problem the last night we were there--the nice man from the front desk worked on trying to fix it, but finally turned out to be some sort of hardware problem. We were leaving the next day, so not really an issue--but it could have been a mess if we were staying longer and wanted to go out and not leave the front door open (or lock it and not be able to get back in when we returned). Not sure how that could have been avoided, though. 6. The TV in the living room (only one in the unit, but that's OK) didn't work (my husband the tech-geek could not get it working, but we fortunately all had books/laptops, etc. with us). He didn't reach out to the front desk, though, to be fair. Nice to have Wi-Fi in the unit, but it would have been better to have the Wi-Fi require a password to improve the security (since I was using my laptop for work). Still better than the dial-up I recall from early visits. The place was clean and comfortable and I'm sure we will be back again--the location is the thing. I've stayed twice and was extremely pleased on both occasions. The staff if friendly to a fault. Our room was spotless when we arrived and had nearly everything that we needed! (Bring your own toothpaste, toothbrush, etc) There's a pool and a ping pong table in the office building. I'm not a tennis player but there is an indoor tennis court as well. They don't advertise this but there's a first come first serve BBQ area outside of the main office as well. All of the necessities for cooking were available in the unit. I stayed in my family the second time in room 305. The only drawback to this room is that you don't have the best view of the Pacific Ocean. But if you're the mobile type it's only a short walk to the beach! Overall a great place and convenient to many of the fantastic sights and favorites on Long Beach! read more

Cool anytime getaway along the sandy shore of Long Beach, WA. I've been to the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort twice in the past year and have thoroughly enjoyed it each time despite the cool and wet unpredictable weather of the Washington Coast. The resort offers amenities such as a pool (covered) with a hot tub and a small workout area. Outdoors, there's a small basketball court. In each of the 2-3 bedroom units or townhomes there's typically a full kitchen, including a dishwasher, a deck facing the ocean, and gas fireplaces for cooler days and evenings. The best feature is of course, being close to the beach by only a few hundred yards or less. For those who would rather chill than be chilled, you can be quite content to sit and enjoy the view and constant sound of the waves ripping across the shore. For those more active, you can occupy yourself by hikes along the surf, tromping across the dunes, or tying your hand at flying a kite. Located a few minutes north of Downtown Long Beach (Washington), there are a lot of good restaurants and shops not far away. Long Beach is pretty much open year-round, but it sometimes helps to check ahead to make sure restaurants are open 'til later or in the mid-week if you've gone down in the winter. read more

We came here as our first stop of our honeymoon, well three days later and we are still here. We got room 602. Very nice full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room, short walk to the beach or drive, as we learned it's legal to drive on the beaches during certain times (watch for signs). We spent all day exploring the coast and would drive back up to the hotel, because it felt like home. The dogs were comfy and slept so much that we could crate them and go for a walk or eat by ourselves and as long as they don't make noise your okay. The only downside is FANS. It's hot and no fans. Also no housekeeping unless you ask for them to come, it's nice I swept and did all that but with sand for 3 days you really need a vacuum and maybe some disinfectant for the kitchen! read more

I can't rate on the actual accommodations, but I can rate the service- it was awful. Over the past week I've tried to make reservations both online and over the phone. Their website is so cumbersome and out of date that I wasn't able to do so. I emailed asking about rooms in a certain price range. I got one email stating there were none. Later, I got a second stating there were none in the aforementioned range, but one just slightly higher. I asked what the next step was. No reply. I tried calling three more times to make the reservation, leaving two voice-mails. Again, no reply. On the 3rd attempt, their voice-mail box was full. After that, I decided it wasn't worth any more of my time. I've arranged accommodations elsewhere. I will not be giving the Lighthouse a second look. read more

Stayed here for a short getaway. What a nice little find in Long beach. Place is clean, comfy, friendly staff. Manager was way cool ... ask her about scuba. They have a tennis pro for two indoor courts. Saltwater pool at 83 degrees. Had everything we need. Real close to beach. Cool stormy, watching the brave clam diggers. Will definitely be back. We booked our stay at the lighthouse cottages and quickly asked to switch rooms when we arrived. If you're planning on staying here, I would advise you not to stay at the cottages. Instead, stay in one of the townhouses or suites. The cottages are old, musty smelling, and are right next to the highway. It's also a very long walk from the cottages to the beach. However, I will say that the staff was VERY accommodating and switched us to one of the suites for the remainder of our stay. Steve was especially helpful. The Suite we stayed in was so cute, clean, and it felt brand new. It was also just a short walk to the beach. We will likely come back but will definitely book our stay in one of the suites or townhouses to start with! read more

If I could give this more stars I wish I could. The staff were sweet and helpful. The back units nearest the office appeared to be nice but BEWARE of the 'nostalgic cottages' in front. We had unit 101 and it should be torn down. The foundation is so bad it is a constant trip hazard. The furniture looks like something they found for free along the highway. The smell was horrible. Moldy and mildew everywhere and weird smells in the kitchen plumbing. We were there with our daughter and her family. Their unit was 103. It was a dump as well but not as bad as ours. We finally left early after we both felt horrible from the smells. We left the keys with the family and left. The place was full due to Labor Day so a room change was not possible. The resort has the possibility of being nice but not these cottages. We were told that some people just love them... how, ???? Even the towels were ragged! The pool was nice and beach access good. One amenity that wasn't mentioned was that the resort has two outdoor gas grills that the guests can use to BBQ. I guess the only downside to this great place is that the pool closes a little too early for my taste, at 9pm. Other than that I had one of the best stays of my life. We spent three nights in unit 203 in June 2011. I came away loving the Lighthouse and here is why: - two bedrooms offering parents privacy, - a full kitchen making meals less expensive, - a balcony overlooking the ocean, - the free wifi, - almost no common walls, so if the kids are loud, you don't have to worry about irritating fellow guests, - a 5 minute walk to the beach, - indoor heated pool, so if it rains, your kids won't go stir crazy, and - while it's a pet-friendly hotel, there was no evidence of animals (hair or smell) in our suite. Our suite really felt more like an apartment and it was so nice to spread out and not feel like we were all crammed into a small hotel room. Taking a vacation with your young children is often an oxymoron so it's nice to stay at a place like the Lighthouse that makes traveling with your children a little more relaxing and more like a vacation. We stayed for one night in a double-double "rustic" room (aka old, lol), and our stay was okay but if we came back we'd want to stay in one of the nicer rooms closer to the water. The room we had smelled funny, possibly from the carpet, walls, couch (that was stinky), or from many wet dogs that stayed there previously. It looks like the bathroom had been remodeled in the last 10 years or so, and the windows/back sliding door have been replaced. The sliding window in the bathroom is not secure though - just two sliding glass panels that anyone could easily get into. Also, the entry door with the glass window is cute, but not safe. The door also was a bit sticky, and when we first entered the room the door actually wasn't secure as whoever cleaned the room probably didn't tug on the door enough. The beds were okay but not great. The pool area was great though, as were the showers. It was nice to have a semi-private deck off our rooms, and it was convenient having our own little kitchen. We were just a short walk to the beach. read more

For the price, compared to what other places cost, I was expecting a little more. It was nice to have a full kitchen available. There's no daily room service. You can only use the pool area until 9pm. Which sucked because we wanted to see the sunsets...which happened around 8:30. Definitely inconvenient. And our room smelled. A little funk doesn't typically bother me...but it smelled like someone cooked some extremely potent fish in our room and then left all of the windows and doors closed for a week. It was pretty bad. We called the front, and they did run us up some air freshener spray - which masked the smell momentarily. Nowhere else smelled like that, so it was definitely the room, and not the area. It was nice to have access to the beach. The staff was friendly. Easy parking. read more

The Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort is our favorite, "go to," place for lodging on the Long Beach Peninsula. The staff is very cordial, informed and helpful. The proximity to the beach and town is ideal. Even when the place is full up it still seems remote and peacefully quiet. Still, the real big draw here is the beautifully maintained tennis courts and the outstanding tennis coach. Roman is an excellent coach and makes tennis more fun than ever. The local tennis club members are very welcoming, too. All in all, an ideal getaway in all kinds of weather and all seasons. read more

What can I say but we just love this place. If you're looking for a peaceful get away with your entire family (furry friends included), this is the place to go. The beachfront units/townhouses are fully equipped, nicely appointed and all around nice to where it is like a home-away-from-home. The staff is great and the grounds are well kept. Taking a walk on the beach doesn't take much effort since it's just over the dunes. You really can't go wrong here. If you travel a lot you know that many times beds can be a bit uncomfortable, bedding can be second rate and overall setup and cleanliness can be questionable. Not so at Lighthouse. The beds are big and comfortable with quality bedding. And the outlets . . . OMG, they were everywhere. I did a happy dance since it didn't look like I would run out of options for plugging in my various electronics (I know, when you're on vacation you're not supposed to have so many gadgets but . . . this is the 21st century and it is difficult to get around with some sort of an electronic leash! - though our cell signal wasn't the best) We just spent our 2nd anniversary at Lighthouse and came away feeling refreshed and renewed. My husband ordered the romance package and we walked into a bedroom with candles, chocolate, a sweet "I Love You" teddy bear and silk rose petals scattered on the bed. What a way to start our time down there . . . Now I can't wait to go back - for a "just cause" visit. read more

My husband and I spent two nights at the end of June 2012 in unit #108 (rustic beach cottages) and would totally come back. The accommodations were cozy, and the kitchenette was small but well equipped for meal prep. We brought our two dogs with us and the place was great in accommodating them. The staff was all friendly and helpful, and even prior to my arrival I had emailed to ask some questions and they were very prompt at getting back to us. The larger condos looked really nice although we did not walk through them. Pluses: -the price was great, $200 for the whole weekend for two people and two dogs -location is definitely beach front! -pool and club house were very nice and they had a free airhockey table available to guests -close to the main drag of Longbeach and super easy to find -rooms were the perfect size, clean and equipped with basic kitchen items Cons: -strange smell in the room like mold or mildew, but figured it was normal for a place that was so close to the ocean and pet friendly -one of our stove burners didn't work, which made cooking difficult -they offered a free wine reception to guests that we found out was canceled when we arrived to the clubhouse (to be fair they did try to call and cancel but we missed the call) The place was great, the price was right and we would definitely stay here again. Stayed in one of the rustic cottages (101) with my husband. 2 bedrooms, equipped kitchen with toaster, coffeemaker, stove and fridge, cozy fireplace and the wifi worked great. Was about a mile walk to the beach, but we enjoyed the trek. Close to the highway but the noise never bothered us. It was actually quite serene! The place wasn't too fancy and was a bit old which is what we loved about it. Felt very cozy. Will be staying again soon! read more

We love the Lighthouse. We stay there every time we go to Long Beach. We always stay in the more modern condos, which are great. I have never stayed in the more "rustic" cabins so I have no opinion there, but I have heard they are "value priced" which is definitely something that prospective guests will want to consider. We travel with three dogs who absolutely love the staff and grounds. As our dogs are not aggressive, they are welcome to run around the dunes off-leash, however we keep them leashed out of respect for other guests. The pool, hot tub and weight/workout room are an awesome amenity and we use them nearly every time we stay. There is no on-site restaurant, but the condos are complete with kitchenette, and we mostly cook our own fresh seafood. read more

I wanted to update my review to state there was no wet dog smell this time, so the last visit we must have just followed a pet visitor! Room was very clean! We did try out the pool this trip, and it was great! Loved the ping pong and air hockey tables that are also available for use! Service in office was again very friendly and accommodating! Quiet stay? Want sleep? As a loyal returning guest I can say you won't receive that here. Between stomping around from neighbors at 530 in the morning to an extremely noisy dishwasher our anniversary stay in room 304 was far from the past experiences we had at this resort. Quiet hours supposedly go from 10pm-8am, yea right! I had to call the unit above me one morning because they were slamming things around @ 530 am. The front called them the day before, to that couple thanks for ruining my 15th anniversary! Out of the 4 days we stayed we never slept past 6am thanks to neighbors! The last day we were rudely awaken by unit 303 on their patio giggling and playing with their dog! My fireplace didn't work properly the timer is all messed up. The beds were uncomfortable. My slider hardly opened unless you force it! The kitchen had 3 forks so every meal I had to wash dishes so my husband and I had clean utensils. The pool is nice but the locker rooms were pretty gross when I booked my 1pm pool time. So after numerous return trips where this wasn't an issue one has us looking for somewhere new to stay. read more

This is a nice place for a long weekend at the beach. The place is pet-friendly and there were alot of dogs, but it was so clean you would never know a dog stayed there. The view from the balcony was beautiful. 5 minute walk to the beach. They do not do daily maid service or change sheets or linens unless you ask. Close to the beach but not close to town. This place was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Our second floor 1br townhouse was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The deck was really nice - view of the waves coming in, no view of any of our neighbors. The tennis courts are very nice too, having indoor courts was a big draw for us and they are top notch. The townhouses are a short walk through the dunes away from the beach, which was perfect. That section of the beach was pretty quiet when we were there on a couple of very nice days in late July. I was on the fence between staying at this place and Adrift down the road, but in the end I'm really glad we stayed here. The place was quiet, amenities were just what we needed and the location was excellent. In my book paying a little extra for the second floor deck was worth it, so if that's an option I recommend it. read more

We will never stay here again. The room was dank, hot and dirty. It smelled horrible! We opened windows and it still smelled horrible. Very outdated, which wouldn't be bad if it was actually clean and smelled better. No TVs in bedrooms. Only 1 tv in the whole place and it was tiny. There was old crusty food under furniture. The sofa bed was a joke. It was nasty. The only good thing about it was it was roomy and the front desk was friendly. It was NOT worth the $329 it cost to stay there. Never again read more

My girlfriend and I took a vacation to Long Beach this August and stayed 2 nights here. We ended up choosing this location because of the cheap price (we paid about $54 / night + $15 / night for a pet fee). We stayed in one of the smaller rooms farthest from the beach, though still easily within a comfortable walking distance. Even the cheap rooms have a small kitchenette. The one we stayed in wasn't the cleanest or best smelling, but I figure it's understandable to see a stain here or there on the floor in a pet friendly room. I would consider staying here again in the future though I'd probably put out some extra dough for one of the nicer rooms closer to the beach. My main complaint with our room was with our 3/4 bathroom. Imagine sitting down to go to the bathroom and resting your head on the sink, that's exactly what I did. Also, I was unable to avoid touching at least 2 walls of the shower while using it, and I'm just an average sized Asian guy. It helped to remind myself I was only paying ~$55 / night. After using the shower once we decided to just go shower at the pool, there we had at least triple the space. I have no doubts in my mind that our dog, Shelby, would definitely be willing to visit again as she really enjoyed trying to swim through sand. read more

Motel 6 has better customer service than this place. Staff is rude. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher upon check-in. No linens were provided for the fold out couch, and we had to pick them up ourselves and make the bed. In fact, any extra towels, linens, shampoo, etc. that you need, you have to go to the office and get it yourself. No maid service unless you request it as well. All this for $175/nt - overpriced and understaffed. read more

My kids, dogs and I stayed here for 3 nights. We absolutely loved it. The pool and hot tub were nice. I particularly loved the air hockey table and gym. Our room was clean and we had a nice view of the ocean. I loved having a kitchenette...makes things so much more affordable. My only complaint is that the fireplace runs on a 30 minute timer. Every time the timer went off I had to relight the pilot. I eventually just gave up. I can't imagine wanting to stay any where else next time we visit. I already miss falling asleep to the sound of the roaring ocean. read more

So glad I found this place with my partner, I will definitely be a returning customer. I'm a pet owner and a pet care business owner so I understand traveling with pets can difficult and expensive. The front desk was wonderful and helpful! It really makes a difference when the staff looks and acts like they enjoy their job, these guys nailed it. The beach is so convenient, just steps away and the best part is that it's not overcrowded because Lighthouse is away from the busy town but not too far to drive to it.
