It's very affordable for the community yoga at $10 a session. I've found that the workouts are very challenging but I can modify if it is too much. As you would expect the classes are very crowded but I feel that helps build an environment where you get to know others that are in the area and have like minded fitness goals. I have never tried hot yoga but I like feeling like I'm sweating out the bad stuff to make room for more good stuff. I'm now addicted to the way I feel after the class. What an incredible space! Had a free day in Nashville and decided to fill it with my favorite "me" things - even though it had been MONTHS since my last flow class. I am really glad Yelp brought me to Shakti for a 12p Sunday Vinyasa class with Jessica. The space is beautiful. It is well-equipped with a locker room, towels, blocks, and easy mat rental that makes it easy if you're travelling from out of town. If visiting for an extended period, they do have a "Travellers" deal which sounded really great. I got my mat and my towel and settled into the heated room. Jessica is AMAZING - her instruction centered around what feels best for each individual body and she incorporated breath cues beautifully. I LOVED the playlist throughout class and the mix of heat (in my muscles and on my skin), balance, rest, and focus. By far one of the best Vinyasa classes I've taken, and I've taken 30+ around the country and back home in Rochester. The community feel here is great. Validated parking right on site, but also easily walkable from most places in Nashville. This studio moved to a new location recently. I know they must have been sad to lose their old space, because it was way more convenient location wise. The parking here can be a bit rough, due to having to share with other businesses. In regards to the yoga itself, it was definitely hot yoga, which I had not done in a while. The space itself was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The teacher was good, but it wasn't done in coordination with any kind of music. Personally, I need the music to help me relax a bit while syncing my breath with movement. I am not sure if it was just that teachers preference or maybe they didn't have the equipment setup yet. I will probably give the studio another try, once they have been in the space a bit longer. read more

Shakti is unlike any other studio, it's truly magical. The space, the people, the instructors, it's such a gift to practice here!

The instructors here are absolutely wonderful and so helpful for yogis of any level. I recently purchased the 30 days of yoga for $30 deal offered on their website, and I have not been disappointed in the least. Shakti does a temperature scan and interview of every single person at the door before entrance to an in-person class. They also have a "mask to mat" rule which means your mask stays on until you reach a socially distant mat marked off by tape within the room. You will have to bring your own mat, towel, and block (if you need it) since equipment will not be shared for everyone's safety. If you prefer, you can also sign up for their Zoom classes with a live instructor during the same time - I would check the website to make sure that option is available in the description for each particular class you're interested in. So far, I've tried out several power yoga classes and a vinyasa flow. I feel like each instructor is both incredibly encouraging and willing to push you further in your yoga journey. Balancing is pretty difficuilt for me, but I've been pleasantly surprised to find myself practicing eagle and half moon poses successfully in large part from friendly, enduring coaching from the lovely teachers. Given the current state of affairs, the heated room has to have some ventilation, so the windows are open and air purifiers are running. However, everyone in the class has still been sweating profusely, rest assured. You will absolutely get your workout! There's plenty of space to drop off your personal items before entering the room with cubbies in the back or in the locker rooms themselves. The space is full of positivity with pleasant affirmations everywhere you turn. It definitely feels more like a community than simply taking a class. You must try out Shakti if you're interested in furthering your yoga practice. read more

Update: Know that cancelling your membership is *difficult* and you will definitely be charged for extra studio time you don't want. Went to the front desk, they wouldn't process my cancellation. Emailed, they wouldn't do it. Had to hop on a phone call and Traci told me that I had to stay an extra 30 days as a member of the studio. Alert to Shakti Power Yoga, you aren't a landlord, and the year is 2022. You'd think a yoga studio would give students more flexibility, but that only applies to what happens in the classroom I guess. Why they would force students who are already dissatisfied with their studio stay for even longer is beyond me. It's definitely not a smart way to run a business. read more

Definitely one of my go to spots for yoga-love the Shiva classes on Tuesday and Thursday with Nicole. So many of the teachers are wonderful - the quick paced vinyasa classes are a good cardio workout. All are welcoming and warm. The Shakti house is gorgeous. It's truly a lovely space to do yoga. Overall, it probably has the best digs in town. The changing room is okay, it also has a dampness to it, but that is to be expected in an old Victorian. The real winner is the yoga room and the teachers. The front room has great light, a dream catcher, and a casual, airy feel. It's easy to get lost in the flow when you are in such a great space. A warning though, it can get really, really hot in there. The windows pull in the sun and the packed classes can really up the temperature. This is another studio where you will want to sign up in advance. The classes frequently have waitlists. As a first timer, I would recommend Emily's noon class on Sundays. I have known and loved the Farina sisters for a few years now. I used to practice with them regularly at another Hot studio in town. But all bias aside, I have to say, their new yoga studio is one of my favorite yoga spots in town. Conveniently located on Music Row in a sweet little old building. The vibe is very home-y, very Nashville with its old wood floors and high ceilings. My favorite design element is the fireplace in the studio, it makes me feel like I am practicing in my living room! As for the practice, I have always loved taking both Lauren and Kelly's classes. They have brought on some other equally great teachers as well. It is a heated studio, but doesn't get nearly as hot as a traditional Bikram studio. It's a great power Vinyasa flow practice and offers a lot of room for growth from beginner to advanced students. If you are just beginning your practice the teachers offer wonderful variation options. It's also great for the adventurous as well! A great place to practice those handstands and backbends. I also love how they throw in some ab work into each session. In previous practices I sometimes felt like good focused ab work was missing. But not at Shakti! All in all, be prepared to sweat. Be prepared for your arms to be sore for a couple days from all those chaturangas. But most of all be prepared to leave each practice feeling a little bit lighter, a little more in love with your life and a lot more in love with Shakti Power Yoga! See you on your mat? read more

I've only been here once, so keep that in mind when you see this review. PROs: The instructor and everyone else created a welcoming and friendly environment. Before the class started, Chris told us to turn around saying hi to people around us. People were also genuinely nice, smiled, and said goodbye to me afterwards. CONs Crowded - Too crowded. I am used to practicing in yoga studios with large space and probably 10-15 students max. I find that kind of space more calming and beneficial for my practice and my mood. This is just the opposite of that. You literally touch your neighbors everytime you reach out your arms or legs. When it is time to breathe out, the room was so loud. I went to the time slot 12pm on a weekday so maybe that's why it's crowded (people who take lunch break for yoga etc..). But this reason alone stopped me from visiting this place again, despite all the positive energy here. read more

The rooms do not have mirrors, so you're able to focus on your poses and breath without constantly staring at the mirror comparing your poses to others. The instructors are calming yet motivating and sometimes even inspiring. The best is Murn. She knows how to get you to enjoy the burn. Highly recommend checking out the $5 community classes or 30 days for $30 deal if you're not ready to make the membership plunge or just visiting. Classes can be easily scheduled online without penalty for canceling if you have the unlimited membership. I have never had a problem getting off the waitlist to be in a class. First and foremost, this place smells amazing - you feel relaxed just walking in. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the space is large. Classes take place downstairs or upstairs and there's a clean locker room with two showers. I've gone for restorative and hot yoga and like the former much better, as their hot yoga classes can get pretty crowded and it's no fun trying to avoid kicking or hitting someone while holding a pose. I'd also recommend bringing your own mats as it does cost $2 to rent one, and they're not always fresh smelling (as expected from collecting other people's sweat...) Parking available in a paid lot in the back ($1 for an hour) or on the street if you can find a spot. read more

Pros - instructors are nice and knowledgable. Definitely get a good work out. Cons - WAY to CROWDED for a high heat class. Only have a few inches between mats. Constantly trying to focus on not knocking into the person next to you (or getting knocked into) as oppose to relaxing and focusing on your breath. Your mat gets soaked with other's sweat. Teachers also do partner work, or ask you to use your partner for support which is pretty gross in a hot yoga class where everyone is dripping in sweat. I love the high heat and the detoxifying benefits of sweat but the overly crowded environment is not worth doing hot yoga at this place. read more

I have always been one of those people to do a little bit of yoga once a year and never want to do it again, until Shakti. Shakti Power Yoga is great for all levels. It is as physically challenging as you would like to push yourself and the teachers are incredibly encouraging. I started noticing a difference in my flexibility and level of poses just after a few classes. They do only have the one room, but there are a lot of perks and added bonuses that make it a great yoga studio experience: - showers and a nice, fully stocked bathroom (must-have if you're practicing during the workday) - sweet teachers, fun music, never intimidating, a good community feel - cold lavender towels that they lay on your forehead during savasana! (I've never had this before at a hot studio, and it is a great treat after a super-sweaty class) - 30 days for $30 for new students is an amazing deal - fun Music Row location (although come early to be sure you can find parking in time to make it to class, as they lock the doors once class starts) - Clark, the in-house yoga dog -- so cute! - you can rent YogiToes mat-size towels (also have never seen this before, but it's a great perk for newbies who don't realize how sweaty and slippery they will get!) In general, I'm surprised at how expensive Nashville yoga is (LA prices?), but this is a great little studio! read more
