That said, Iyengar yoga is a very different style of yoga and may not appeal to those who like more active styles or flow routines. At 12 South, you hold poses for longer and focus on form rather than speeding through a series. This is great for people who either already have or are prone to injury, since props can be used to achieve the full pose. But don't be fooled by the slower pace; this is definitely a workout. The lower level classes do not emphasize the breathing or chanting that is often associated with yoga, so if that is something that you dislike, this is the place to try. Instructors are attentive, classes are generally small and the facility is terrific -- very clean, with quality props, easy parking and a small selection of yoga apparel and accessories for purchase. Both locations offer superb instruction, a truly supportive and nurturing atmosphere that allows for fully experiencing the intensity and relaxation of Iyengar yoga. I have attended class by several instructors, and every one offers me new insights into poses, new techniques to maximize the effectiveness, and useful guidance to ensure I am doing poses properly. And that is the key difference here- proper position and technique. Poses are carefully and repeatedly taken, in order to really learn each one, rather than flowing through them sloppily. You will really "feel it" after these classes, as intensely as a more aerobic work out. The quads, glutes and hips are really involved in every pose, and I leave feeling both relaxed and stronger. Even the beginner courses get you involved in shoulder stands and inverted poses, and the use of equipment was mind-blowing for me. Again, it is all about proper form, and the brilliant use of props really allows you to set your body into poses that you would never have thought possible. The rooms are large, well appointed and clean. All equipment was in good repair and clean as well. I highly recommend 12 South Yoga.

It is right in the LL Market off of Charlette Pike with plenty of FREE parking behind the building. I have yet stressed about parking since this building has open (I hope it stays this way). The studio comes with complimentary face towels and yoga mats and yoga blocks. There are storage lockers near the back to lock your personal belongings. This studio has great bathrooms and showers if you need to head out somewhere after. After each yoga practice they give you frozen lavender towels that help with getting your body temperature back down and wiping your face. This is by far my favorite part. They have different classes and welcome all levels! Note that when you sign up to arrive at least 5-10 minutes early since the studio is First come first served on where your placement is in the studio. Note that peak hours to arrive earlier or you will be stuck near the door (the coolest spot).

I was blown away by the skill & support of the Align 60 instructor, Leah, she was by far one of the best courses I have ever taken. I felt so connected to my body and aware of parts of myself I ignore so often. I really loved the gentleness and invitations to modify as needed, as well as, having a in classroom support to the instructor to come around and assist with posture, I feel so bad but I have forgotten her name. It was my first time using straps, but thankfully I was supported. All the other classmates were kind and there was enough space for everyone, even though it was pretty full. I failed to take any pictures as I wanted to be present to the moment, but one beautiful offering is a tea station near the restrooms, cubbies to place items, and a lavender cool face towel at the end of class. What a beautiful and inviting experience, excited to return!

Walking into Fahrenheit Yoga already felt like I was betraying at least three generations. Somewhere, an uncle just shook his head for no reason. Hot 26(Bikram)at Fahrenheit is not yoga. It's a 90 minute hostage situation with stretching. The room is so hot your thoughts immediately file for divorce. First 10 minutes: confidence. Minute 20: regret. Minute 40: spiritual bargaining. Minute 60: God has left the chat, science is fake, and time is a social construct. By the end, you're just a damp, enlightened noodle. This class will: -delete your ego -uninstall your personality -defrag your spine -and factory-reset your soul I walked in with knee pain, back pain, hip pain, elbow pain, emotional stiffness, and a strong sense of masculinity. I walked out flexible, peaceful, and unsure who I used to be. This is better than pizza in Naples. Better than stouts in Ireland. Better than therapy, because therapy never made me sweat, cry, shake, hallucinate, and spiritually ascend while staring at a mirror. At some point I genuinely believed Hot 26 could: -fix the Arab world -end wars -bring Jesus back AGAIN -and make Him say "okay but why is it THIS hot" By the end of class, everyone looks like they survived the same disaster. No words. Just eye contact. Trauma bonded forever. Come early. Bring water. Do NOT come cocky. Fahrenheit Yoga isn't a studio it's a sauna powered personality eraser.

We recently relocated to the Franklin area and when I took my first class at The Hot Room, I was "home" - it felt so great to be back and the community is so welcoming.
