I've only been practicing yoga for a short time (less than a year); when my favorite studio closed. If you're a new person, your studio is "home". I was in the pouting stage; no place could ever be as good as my home studio. Why did it close??? Well, the moment I walked in to Epic Yoga, it felt like home. It's not one of those places you sit in a silent meditative state. You are greeted warmly, you are made to feel at "home". The instructors are knowledgeable, warm, friendly and caring. Disclaimer: I LOVE yoga. It's the only exercise I've ever been able to stick with; I crave it if I skip a few days; I find it healing, cathartic, and an awesome workout. Disclaimer Part Two: I do not look or act like the typical yogi. I have some extra pounds, I eat meat, and I will give you the finger in the parking lot of the yoga studio if you cut me off. Epic Yoga caters to my kind of non-yogi, as well as the die hard experts, pretzel people, those who don't touch their toes, and everyone in between. If you've been considering yoga, this is the place you've been waiting for. Everyone is genuinely welcomed, skill level (or lack there of) be damned. And if you're more seasoned, you will still be challenged. Most classes are 60 or 75 minute power yoga sessions taught in a room heated to about 90 degrees. The instructors (all of them--I have never taken a class taught by someone I didn't like) are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely kind. The one characteristic about Epic that sticks out to me the most is the complete lack of that pretentious air that other yoga studios can carry. You have one thing to do at this place: Show up. If you fall, or lack focus, or are not wearing $100 yoga pants, or can't touch your toes, it does NOT matter. I recently heard one of my favorite quotes ever in a rather challenging class: "You have to show up and suck, before you can show up and shine." Yep. It's that kind of place. Feel free to suck, no one is judging you. The prices are comparable to other area yoga studios, but if you're a first timer, I signed up for a 30 days (unlimited yoga) package for $30, which I believe is an ongoing special. And one more thing: I've always wondered how people came to add things like headstands or "flying" poses, and things like that to their practice. In my past experience, you took a class, and you either could or could not do those postures. There was no instruction, and god forbid you tried and fell. The laid back nature of the studio, the encouragement of the instructors, and the padded floor (helpful!) are making me a better yogi. I am able to try things I've always feared, and build strength and confidence on and off the mat. I can't say enough about Epic Yoga (obviously. Even my mom probably hasn't read this far.). but I will continue to babble and awkwardly try, so it's probably best you just check it out for yourself. Namaste, bitches. read more

Epic Yoga has saved me! I love this studio! The classes at Epic are challenging and relaxing all at the same time. I grew up taking dance and as an adult moved on to working out in a gym with weights... Epic Yoga has given we my flexibility back and I feel stronger than ever. Epic Yoga is an amazing place for hot vinyasa in the style of Baptiste. I was recently in Nashville visiting my parents for an extended period of time and decided to try out the studio with the new student package. Whoa! What an amazing experience. The studio is nice is clean. The colors are very soothing. The instructors are amazing! Each approaches her own practice is a slightly different way and adds her own touches to the class. I really enjoyed every class but really liked Keenan's 6 am classes. I know that is really early for some but it is totally worth it. I felt energized all day even though I got up at 5 am to hydrate and prepare. Some classes are more packed that others (especially on weekends) so I encourage anyone to get there early to get a prime spot. Although this studio is new, it appears Leanne (the owner) may need to expand already as some classes are a little cramped. If the class is on the smaller size, you will receive a lot of individual adjustments to reach the pose's full potential, which is amazing. I encourage anyone interested in hot yoga to check out this studio. Definitely ask about the new student first month deal! I think it's around 40 bux or so. I currently live in Charlottesville, Va and we only have a Bikram studio. I wish we had something like Epic Yoga out here...sigh. From my experience Epic is pretty pricey. Their prices lock you into six months which can be challenging if you travel. Also the classes I took did Not focus on Breathe, the music has lyrics so it's not meditative, rather you can't stop thinking of the lyrics and the incense they burn is lung challenging and difficult to breathe in. I had such high hopes for this studio but meh, not for me.- read more

I've discovered you can park around back and not run through the shopping center parking lot. Additionally - the schedule is great, the place never smells like rubber or sweat (now that its been open awhile) and Liz is my favorite instructor so far, but all of them are good! The staff also makes an effort to give it a family/community atmosphere, but is super welcoming to newbies. read more

Great, clean yoga studio with excellent, motivational instructors. I really rank this as 4.75 stars because I personally prefer a hot room versus Epic's warm studio. Nonetheless, you will still sweat. I also like a cold, lavender washcloth at the end which Epic does inconsistently. Class is finished in the traditional manner. However, because of its open concept with the studio being one large room, additional meditation on my mat in a quiet room is not possible. Epic is a popular yoga studio with a super, friendly, non intimidating atmosphere. A great place for new and experienced yogis. read more

My favorite place to practice in the greater Nashville area. I started as a beginner almost 9 years ago and still go back as often as I can. It's challenging, yet restorative; great for a beginner or pro! There are no mirrors, so you can focus yourself and your practice and not get caught up in how you look. Recently wen to the hottest new studio in Nashville for a Yoga Life Coaching by Deborah Willamson. The studio is hopping! I loved the flooring as it was amazing feeling in down dog on my wrists and felt great doing Cat Cow! What I was most impressed by was the friendliness of the community there. I felt like it was the studio I normally practice in cause it had so much great energy! If I lived in Nashville, this is where I would practice! Thanks for the great experience. We started at Epic one random day as brand new yoga beginners. We were way out of shape so decided that a single night of a "Basics" class was a good start. We quickly realized how much we liked it. Not only the practices themselves but the teachers and atmosphere. Fast forward 1.5 years and we are doing 3 heated power yoga classes a week. It had been years since I had worked out or been in good shape. It's hard to describe how much better you feel each day after 3 yoga sessions a week. Yoga was never in my plans. This yoga studio is a residents only studio and is not open to the public. Their website does not have the correct class schedule, however, does still accept payment. I signed up for a class not knowing any of these things and showed up to a 6am class to find it didn't exist. Will be looking to get a refund and checkout a different studio in the area. read more

I took a heated 75 min. drop-in class with Linda while I was in Nashville over the weekend - loved it. Appreciated her teaching style - she is hands on and gives great adjustments. As a studio newcomer, I could tell there is a great sense of community among the "regular yogis". The studio was very intimate, but for some reason did not feel overcrowded. I don't usually do heated yoga (I wish I did), but I do practice vinyasa regularly so I was fine following the flow of the class and was challenged. If it's convenient to get to, I would highly recommend the studio - really enjoyed it and will likely drop-in again on my next visit. read more

Wow this studio is amazing. I love my studio back home so it's always hard to find something that compares. But this studio has such a great energy. First off be floor is made of this softer rubber material which makes even some of the easier poses quite challenging. The two instructors I had were phenomenal. It's definitely challenging. They have no problem getting you warmed up and into a very challenging flow. I will now look forward to my travels to Nashville just to visit epic yoga! read more

I love this studio but it is new and needs several areas of improvement before I could give it 5 stars Pros: The studio is clean, relaxing colors, fantastic heating system, and great floor mats. Baptiste yoga has an amazing flow. I have never worked so hard and sweat so much in a yoga class. I have been going for a couple months now and have vastly improved my strength and body shape. I will be a long time member. Cons: I do a lot of classes with Leanne. She is wonderful but I feel she can talk too much and be distracting. She loses her count A LOT and frequently forgets where she is at in the flow. Often times not having an even balance on the left and right sides. I like to have a nice even flow where I can stay focused on my practice and I have yet to be able to find that balance with all the talking, jokes, and losing place. She kinda has a motto of not taking yourself seriously and tries to be funny and constantly talks. To each his own of course, but those of us who would like to be a little more serious and focus this makes it impossible. Half the time she practices with no music or the music selection is quite terrible. No flow to it and not music you would normally hear in a practice. The studio has no mirrors. I find I like mirrors in a studio so I can occasionally check my poses and see that I am doing it right, improving, etc. read more

What a great find! I was just passing through the area spending the night at one of the nearby hotels and booked a class here on a whim. It was a fantastic experience- a beautiful setting, a relaxing yet butt-kicking class, and a totally non-judgmental atmosphere with a sense of humor. As a beginner who has a hard time keeping up a practice schedule even at home, much less when traveling for a living, and as an out-of-towner, I was made to feel welcome and totally at home the minute I stepped through the door. I'm a big fan of epic yoga! I've only been to the evening classes in the Brentwood location, but I find their studio, even when it is a crowded night, is not so packed that you feel like your bumping into your neighbor. I also think most instructors seems to teach the perfect balance between pushing yourself to get the most out of your practice while still allowing time to meditate and center oneself after a long day. My only complaint is that since I visit the studio through class pass, I can only go three times a month! I would also love it if they brought back the lavender, cold towels at the end of your practice. It's so refreshing, and hardly any studios seem to do this anymore. read more

The instructor provided gentle guidance and the other class participants encouraged you to try poses outside of your usual comfort zone. This is one of my favorite yoga studios around. I leave every practice feeling refreshed and rejuvenated in a way few other studios provide, and the vibe, instruction, and overall experience at this studio are superb. I've been going consistently for two weeks and feel my body undergoing a huge transformation! I feel stronger, more energized, and more flexible, and leave every class looking forward to another. I appreciate the variety of each practice, the Baptiste-style flow, and the quotes LeAnne and Liz (haven't taken from others yet) weave into their classes. Total mind and body workout. I was new to yoga a year ago and never thought hot yoga would be so wonderful. But from the beginning to now, I am amazed at the benefits that are continually happening. The studio is friendly and informative, cheerful yet disciplined. Their schedule is fantastic and each instructor is rigorous but also playful.
