"Zen and Zaatar: an Arab Triathlete's journey" As a runner, and a semi new Triathlete, i thought i mastered endurance, discipline and balance. Little did i know that holding a downward dog for 30 seconds could humble me faster than a triathlon finish line, or a century on my Zwift. Growing up, i was told this is a girl thing to do yoga (fu€% that masculine toxicity). in a 6 day training chaotic schedule, this one hour yoga session manages to ground me (i sound hippy now) but also so welcoming by the staff, like my stiff-as-a-board hamstring "is a work in progress" they say. And frankly i believe them. Super kind staff, very knowledgeable and patient (and they drop some solid wisdom every few minutes, You are basically getting free therapy too). Various classes, well structured, so clean, the lavender towels are my new favorite thing. Bring your humility and like 2 big towels, because you are gonna sweat the last shot of vodka from last year.

As a Nashville native and long time practitioner of yoga, I have been to many studios and Highland has something so special. The studio and the staff have this really calm and inviting feel that Immediately fell in love with. A great addition to the power flow community as well as offering many other beautiful experiences such as sound baths and moon circles which I'm a big fan of! Whether you are a newbie to yoga or looking for a new home studio, definitely check out Highland !

I have been to several Barre studios over the years, and I love how inclusive Barre3 feels (at both…read moreof the Nashville locations I've visited). Workout classes can be intimidating and having a forever injury that requires modification can make it feel even scarier however, the employees always make sure to welcome new people show them around. I find that before classes (particularly a more full class) there will be socialization between members/attendees and it's not just with people they know, rather with whoever is standing nearby. Of course no one is forcing conversations if people don't wish to be social, but it just feels extra welcoming. The instructors never make you feel left out or like a burden if you need modifications. Having done barre for a while, I'm pretty good at doing my own, however without signaling anyone out they'll offer and demonstrate different modifications for each move and encourage people to take what they need. It's nice to be reminded that this is your workout, and the way you do it doesn't have to fit perfectly into a certain look or move. They also offer hands on modifications, which you can tell them if you'd rather not receive them, but the modifications are never forceful (I think most group fitness people have experienced a modifications from a good intentioned teacher that was a little too zealous - that's never happened to me at Barre3). This is a great place for beginners, for people who are feeling a little alone on starting a fitness/barre journey, for regulars, and for all the in-betweeners. It's a welcoming and inclusive environment, that encourages modifications, all skill levels, and support where ever you need it. However, don't be fooled by all the niceness too much, because the workout will still absolutely kick your butt and is harder than you think - but it's delivered in a way that's always encouraging. Also, the free parking is a major plus of this location! You can park in the attached garage or street parking nearby. For the garage I use the call box and let them know I'm there for barre3 but make sure you get the door code from an employee before your visit, because you'll need that to enter the 2nd door.

The space itself has great vibes: clean, calming, and the kind of place that instantly puts you in the right mindset to move and reset. Cody's class was a 10/10. His instruction was clear, motivating, and perfectly paced. He creates an environment where everyone feels comfortable while still challenging you to push yourself. You can tell he really knows his craft. The overall energy of the studio is warm and inclusive, making it easy to feel like you belong whether it's your first class or your hundredth. If you're looking for a yoga studio with great instructors and an amazing atmosphere, Small World Yoga is definitely the spot. Highly recommend! ‍

Cody taught both classes I took, and I swear this man was born in a squat. Dude held chair pose long enough to file taxes and plan a small revolution. I don't know if he's enlightened or just stubborn, but I respect it deeply. Class was wild. My legs were vibrating like an iPhone on silent. Every time I thought we were done, Cody was like, "One more plank," and now I live in plank. My arms wrote this review without me, and filled for divorce. The room could be hotter. I want to be sweating like I'm being interrogated by the CIA. I want to see visions of my ancestors handing me a towel. I want to crawl out drenched, whispering "water" like it's a lost language. Studio's clean, everyone's nice, and apparently it's nonprofit, which in this economy feels like a spiritual awakening on its own. Will absolutely be back to legally suffer in the name of wellness.
