I have been to several Barre studios over the years, and I love how inclusive Barre3 feels (at both of the Nashville locations I've visited). Workout classes can be intimidating and having a forever injury that requires modification can make it feel even scarier however, the employees always make sure to welcome new people show them around. I find that before classes (particularly a more full class) there will be socialization between members/attendees and it's not just with people they know, rather with whoever is standing nearby. Of course no one is forcing conversations if people don't wish to be social, but it just feels extra welcoming. The instructors never make you feel left out or like a burden if you need modifications. Having done barre for a while, I'm pretty good at doing my own, however without signaling anyone out they'll offer and demonstrate different modifications for each move and encourage people to take what they need. It's nice to be reminded that this is your workout, and the way you do it doesn't have to fit perfectly into a certain look or move. They also offer hands on modifications, which you can tell them if you'd rather not receive them, but the modifications are never forceful (I think most group fitness people have experienced a modifications from a good intentioned teacher that was a little too zealous - that's never happened to me at Barre3). This is a great place for beginners, for people who are feeling a little alone on starting a fitness/barre journey, for regulars, and for all the in-betweeners. It's a welcoming and inclusive environment, that encourages modifications, all skill levels, and support where ever you need it. However, don't be fooled by all the niceness too much, because the workout will still absolutely kick your butt and is harder than you think - but it's delivered in a way that's always encouraging. Also, the free parking is a major plus of this location! You can park in the attached garage or street parking nearby. For the garage I use the call box and let them know I'm there for barre3 but make sure you get the door code from an employee before your visit, because you'll need that to enter the 2nd door. read more

"Not to be dramatic but barre3 changed my life" --my friend talking to me about barre3 I recently completed a full month of going to barre3 through a free friend's pass mostly at this location so I can say that the instructors are great. I've taken classes from Charo, Katie, Erica, Kendall and Melissa. Right now they are doing a special series of morning classes that are outdoors (weather permitting). I've been hesitant to go back to group workout classes in these covid times, but the outdoor workouts have been safe and have eased me back into a normal (Zoom-free) workout. They also have virtual and in-studio classes as well. Upon check-in they take your temperature and everyone sets up their mat at least 6 feet apart. Everyone wears a mask when they are not at their spot. All equipment are sanitized after class (balls, weights, bands). For the in-studio classes everyone is assigned a number that corresponds to your cubby and the spot at the bar in the studio. Highly recommend this location and barre3. For your first time coming, just call & ask about the parking situation since they have a code to park in the lot. read more

My roommate and I have been looking for a change in workout since moving to Nashville. We got 3 classes with Groupon for barre3 Nashville. After our first class I am HOOKED the instructor, Ann-Elise, was upbeat and fun and offered multiple ways to change the movements to better accommodate ones skill level. I'm still feeling it the day after! Would definitely recommend trying this place out! The people are super nice and gave us a free class card and personal message at the end of our first class there. Pro tip: street parking can be very hard to find in this area of the gulch, however there is a parking garage where the first hour is free right across the street. I would recommend parking there as we had no trouble finding a spot and didn't end up having to pay anything as we were there for only a little over an hour. read more

I recently took a candlelit class on a Sunday here. I really enjoyed the teacher and the workout! Having all the lights out made it a bit more relaxing, even though the class was definitely challenging. At the end there was even stretching involved and a few moments to just relax when having to run out the door. Just note that parking here may get a bit odd during the week as you have to park in a paid lot but they have a code for the first hour to be free. read more

No one likes working out, but if you're going to do it - this is the way to go. Get your cardio, strength and flexibility all in one nonstop hour. This particular studio is clean, well organized, and the instructors I've had know how to both push you and motivate you. They knew everyone in the room by name. They also handed out arm bands if you were ok with the instructor physically correcting your form/touching exactly where the workout should be making your muscles cry. (It's nice to be asked whether or not you'd like to be touched.) Extra bonus points for this studio: we didn't use the little slider discs. I hate those things with a capital HATE. (I'm sure we will one of these days though.) Also this studio doesn't push you to buy its products. Classes are done barefoot as opposed to using pricey branded grippy socks. Barre in general works on balance, flexibility and strength. Just when you get to the point you think your abs or glutes or arms can't take another rep, you're changing exercises. And there's super peppy music behind it all. Usually there's a Groupon for classes - so if you're shy about it or not sure, try it out before making a big monthly commitment. It isn't cheap, but it IS worth it. Barre gets results. Fast. You probably WON'T get every move right the first time and all the muscles you worked on WILL hurt like crazy the next day, but go back! Eventually your toned up tush, flatter belly, and fabulous arms will be able to make it through the entire workout. read more

I feel as if I should make this known before I go on... Ya girl is NOT a dancer (not even close). Okay.. now that we got that settled, onward with the review! I wasn't sure what to expect at all going into my first class. It's a combination of aerobic/dance cardio, pilates, and yoga. A perfect trifecta in my opinion. It's definitely a full body workout! Afterwards, I couldn't walk for 4 days (which, somehow kept me coming back for more..ha!). Needless to say Best. Workout. EVER. I was immediately hooked. All of the instructors are fabulous. They are very approachable and make an effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome right away. They often go around before class to check in on your to see if you have any injuries you're working with/how you're feeling that day. I found this studio through ClassPass. I tried other barre classes in the area including Neighborhood Barre and Pure Barre, but Barre3 has been by far superior. Not even really a competition, in my opinion. It's so good that I ended up cancelling ClassPass and went straight for the Barre3 membership! Parking is the only downfall of this particular location. I always park in the lot next to the Turnip Truck. The first hour is free, but to avoid the risk of towing I would highly recommend using the code they offer for 1.5 hour parking for $1. The barre3 studio is fantastic! It's super clean, easy to get to, and has lots of options post-workout. I took one of their classes a few months ago and I couldn't walk for a week. Out of all of the barre classes I have taken, this by far has been the hardest. I left the class incredibly sweaty, it was packed, and seriously, it took almost a week to recover. My legs were so sore. I could barely bend over. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me out as soon as I arrived. They got me signed up in less than 5 minutes and I was off to get a space in the room. This is another studio to arrive early to secure your space. The class is run like a typical barre class. Lots of arm work to start out, then bar work, and finally floor/core work. The hour will speed by. Once you are done grab your stuff and head over to the Thompson Hotel for a coffee! read more

Let me start out by saying I was initially terrified to try barre3 because I'm not a dancer. I assumed everyone was basically a ballet dancer in the class. I'm so glad I was wrong! This place is amazing! The interior is light, inviting, and very well decorated with exposed brick - just as you would imagine an high class studio. The class that I took was lead by Holly who is the studio owner and I only have good things to say about her. She spoke with me prior to class to introduce herself and identify any problem areas. Throughout the class, she checked on me. The class was high energy and I definitely "felt the burn". The class focused on posture, abdominal control, and breathing. After seat work, leg work, and core work, I could definitely feel the workout! I felt such great energy from Holly and the atmosphere from the facility that I can't imagine not coming back! read more

Q: Why does barre3 only have 6 reviews? A: It's a hidden gem. --- One of my secrets for hoarding profuse meals into my tummy is exercise. Walking around Nashville is a good idea until you're stricken by bad weather or a horse carriage, neither for which I was properly equipped. Packing light meant only bringing shorts and flip flops, so it was safe to say I wasn't prepared for much. I booked three classes at barre3 so as to keep my belly awake and craving, no shoes or heavy gear required. The first class I had was a bit fast-paced, but easy to follow. Erica was helpful every step of the way, ensuring we were all injury-free and in proper form. Most of the moves were of the pilates/yoga family, but boy did the beads of sweat drop! I woke up sore the next morning. The second two classes were more more challenging, albeit less sweaty. Jennie got us shaking (up, and down, up, and down...) and feeling empowered! My legs and butt were as tough as boulders when I walked out. A word of advice: their Dumbbells range from 1-5lbs. For goodness sake, do not jump to the 5lbs weights! While 5lbs is essentially nothing, you're going to be balancing on one leg and doing high reps, so 3lbs is enough to help you feel the burn. Also, I'm wildly impressed with how fit the instructors are compared with everybody else I've seen in town! They must not ever touch fried food. Superb choreography? Yep! Ambiance? Yep! Cleanliness? I was so happy to find a barre3 near where I had scheduled a work meeting while in Nashville. I took class with Jesse and was sweating in the first 5 minutes. The 60 minute class was upbeat and intense, which made the time fly by and before I knew it, we were stretching to end class. When you walk in the studio there are several cubbies lining the entry way and the front desk is just past this area. There is shopping parking behind the studio and there is a barre3 option but I didn't know the coupon code. The first hour is free in all of the lots in this area, but you really need at least an hour and a half for the class. It was nice to visit a studio outside of my home studio in OKC and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Their merchandise is different from ours back home so I snagged a tank from Spiritual Gangster that I can tell will be a fast favorite. Thanks for the hospitality barre3 Nashville! read more

I've been telling two of the instructors here for a while now that I was going to come take a class just to give it a try. I procrastinated for some time, and then I finally decided one morning to just go ahead and run over and take a class. I was a little nervous about not being flexible enough, having no dance/pilates/yoga background whatsoever, and I figured I would make a right fool of myself. Maryanna was great. She was very motivating, energetic, and cheerful. She gave a number of modifications so that you could work at your own level. Me, being a competitive person, I tried to really push the limits. Being a competitive person who is not so in shape, I about killed myself in the first 15 minutes of the class. I was drenched in sweat and my legs were shaking. Time to scale it back a little and breathe. The last 45 minutes of the class were much better as I brought things down to my fitness level. It was still by no means easy. By the end of the class as we stretched things out and wound down I was relieved and yet extremely energized. I went to the gym a few hours later and ran on the treadmill for an hour. I have to say that is probably the first time in years that I have been so motivated. I will say I felt the burn all over for the next two days, especially my core and my thighs. It was a satisfying one though, and I'm going to come back. I can definitely see where there is no limit with this class. The modifications allow you to make it constantly harder and harder if you are willing to put in the work and reach for it. The atmosphere was calm and very welcoming as well. Maryanna had a great play list as well. She also knew when to turn the fan up and crank it and when to brings things down and dim the lights. I survived and feel really excited about classes to come with Maryanna and the other members of the Barre3 team. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Barre 3. This place is truly amazing! I have a pretty athletic build and was really scared of trying a barre class because I didn't feel like I would fit in with the long and lean ladies in the class, however I was totally wrong. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all...don't get me wrong there are a lot of beautiful bodies in the class but it gives me more drive to not come out of my pose :) The owner, Holly, is such a wonderful spirit. She is super friendly and wants to make sure you are getting everything you need out of barre. Even though I cringe every time she says to do the diamond pose...I know it is only going to make me stronger. I started taking Barre 3 because I had injured myself running and playing soccer. My physical therapist suggested this type of work out to keep me active and stretched with out the impact. I have noticed a tremendous increase in my flexibility and my rage of motion in my hip has drastically improved. I plan to start running again but will continue to keep Barre 3 as a part of my weekly workouts. I highly suggest you go. After class use the awesome Body Spray in the bathroom...It smells Amazing! Been going here for a while and I LOVE it. The classes are great, the times are super flexible. I love how I have the option to have early morning classes or late afternoon classes when I get off of work. Whenever I have had to call and reschedule a class due to work they have been more than accommodating. The room where the classes are held is small and the pillars are annoying as you sometimes have to work around them and avoid kicking them during class. But the gulch is such a popular area I'm sure that was the best space they could find. The parking is also not ideal. They have a great discounted rate for the hour and a half you need for class which is very kind of them but if you take the free hour and don't run right out of class they WILL ticket you. I also saw them giving a ticket to a girl for being double parked when she wasn't. The parking lots available are just small. Coming from a smaller town I'm not used to paying for parking at all and the parking and the pillars are the only reason I can't give this place a 5 star review. Those things aren't really in their control though and everything else has been WONDERFUL. Jessica especially does a great job of leading classes with plenty of modifications to make a harder workout or easier if you have to work around bad knees like I do. Every class I have been to has been wonderful. LOVE this place! read more

Barre3 is the best thing that's ever happened in my fitness life!!! Owner Holly and the amazing teachers (Molly, Jennie Rebecca, Margy, Gloria to name a few I have taken class with) will make you so comfortable and happy while you are breaking a sweat and sculpting long , lean muscles. Personally I have tried everything to get my legs looking awesome. I have always been a runner, and I tried supplementing with lifting, kickboxing, hot yoga, boot camp classes, you name it and I tried it. This is the first method of exercise that has not only been 100% safe for my wonky lower back, but has defined and toned my legs exactly how I've always wanted! It is an AMAZING compliment to create flexibility and strength for runners, but would be suitable for pretty much anyone to get a great workout. As a performer, I'm always conscious of making sure I wear flattering clothes on stage. Now after just two months of coming to Barre3, I'm rocking my shortest cutoffs and boots without a care in the world and feeling really proud to show off my Barre3 legs. These ladies know what they are talking about! They are so knowledgeable about working through injuries and can give modifications for every body type and walk of life. I can't say enough good things about this amazing practice of exercise that combines yoga, Pilates, and traditional barre. I'm so happy and energized every time I walk out of class, and my back has actually gotten better!! You won't regret trying this amazing method of fitness, and you will love the friendly sense of community and positivity in this studio! read more

While I love being active (intramural sports, hiking, kayaking, etc.), I absolutely loathe working out. I've tried running and a bunch of different gyms and classes, but have never felt totally comfortable anywhere or enjoyed my workout... until I started going to Barre3. I. AM. OBSESSED. Studio owners Holly and Pace have put together such an incredible team. The instructors are always super friendly and make a point of introducing themselves and knowing your name. They are passionate about helping their clients live a healthy, happy, and balanced life, and they approach fitness in such a refreshing way and with a healthy mindset. If you have never taken a yoga, Pilates, or barre class before, there is no reason to be nervous! I hadn't either until I started Barre3, and I promise you will feel right at home in class. The instructors take care of each client individually. They check at the beginning to make sure they know of any injuries or pregnancies so they can provide modifications specifically for that client, and every exercise is presented with modifications that are tailored to all ability levels. You're encouraged to "listen to your body" and go at your own pace and comfort level, but they'll correct your posture as necessary and provide opportunities for you to push yourself to the next level when you're ready to do so. Additionally, every age, body type, and life stage is represented at Barre3 - this workout is truly perfect for anyone, and everyone fits right in. Other awesome things about Barre3: (a) The Child Care - If you are a mother with young children there is child care during some of the classes (just check the schedule online). How awesome is that?! (b) The Staff - I know I already touched on this, but they really are amazing. The customer service is outstanding all around. The ladies at the desk will greet you with a sincere smile and will give first time visitors a tour of their beautiful studio. Holly and Pace are the nicest and most welcoming people (as well as unbelievable instructors... they will kick your butt!), and they are constantly looking for ways in which they can improve or serve their clients in new ways. (c) The Other Clients - It's not just the staff that is welcoming at Barre3! Everyone who works out here is super nice. Seriously. There must be something in the water. (d) The Impeccable Studio - I feel relaxed and at home every time I walk in. It is a clean, bright, and beautiful space. Plus they have the child care area, a water bottle refill station, and a great powder room stocked with everything you may find yourself in need of, from Q-tips to tampons to lotion. (e) The Price - They have a bunch of different options for individual classes, class packages, or monthly memberships. Whether you're looking to mix a random Barre3 class into your workout routine here and there or build a brand new routine around it, they have the right options to suit your needs. Also, Barre3 memberships are very competitively priced, and are much cheaper than some other gyms and studios in the same neighborhood and around Nashville. (f) The Class Size - It's limited to 24, but often you will have less people in your class. This allows the instructors to really work with and pay attention to everyone, and it's awesome. (g) The Workout - The instructors are clear and easy to follow and they provide plenty of options to ensure you are getting what you need/want from each class. Sometimes I go in wanting to get my butt kicked and other times I'm just there to have a "fun" class to clear my mind and relax. I can work to any level I decide to get what I'm looking for that day. If you are looking to add length and strength to your body, improve your posture, gain muscle tone and feel GREAT, these classes are for you. You will shake and quake and your muscles will burn in the best possible way. Barre3 is all about small, controlled movements and it's a fantastic full-body workout. I always leave the studio feeling clear headed and like I can take on the world! Other things to note: (a) They are constantly working to add more classes to the weekly schedule (although they already have a ton of great options that fit any lifestyle). (b) They will be opening another location across from the Belle Meade Target on White Bridge Road later this year. If you have a monthly membership you'll be able to take classes at both locations! The Belle Meade location will have two studios, a larger child care area, and even a shower in the new space. Bottom Line: Barre3 is a great workout for EVERYONE. Whether you're an athlete (they train the Titans' cheerleaders!), a new mom trying to get back in shape, or an older woman trying to stay fit and strong, you will fit right in and get a workout catered to YOU. Above all, you'll have a great experience and you'll want to come back again, and that is what I find most priceless. Okay, I will admit right off the bat that I initially avoided barre because I thought it was just one of those fad workouts, like Zumba or cardio dance, that was fun but didn't really do anything lasting or meaningful to work your body out. Well, I saw a Groupon special for this studio and bought it on a whim. I am happy to say that after a handful of classes at barre3 I have totally eaten my words. Barre is amazing! barre3, even more so. The workouts are challenging (and I should have known--barre is touted as a mashup of yoga and pilates, which are challenging no matter what your level of fitness) and definitely give a whole new meaning to "feel the burn." The routines are set to fun EDM/pop music and the instructors actually do the routines with you, which is something I appreciate because I can see them shaking and working just as hard as we are to get a good workout in. The instructors also gently correct your form if you need a little guidance and also stick with you for a few reps, so that you don't immediately fall out of form once they leave. Great stuff. The studio itself is clean, bright, and pretty. They sell merch at the front desk and have little cubbies where you can put your belongings. There's always someone at the front desk as well, which was a relief because I was worried when I noticed they didn't lock their door during class. I've heard that they provide childcare for their patrons too, which I think is a great idea for moms or dads out there looking to join a fitness studio. Overall, I am so happy to have taken a chance on trying barre, and even more so to have found barre3. I'm definitely going to put my Groupon to good use. A few last tips: Buy toesox so that you don't lose your grip on the floor. You're going to slip and slide, and the toesox have a sticky bottom that prevents that from happening. Also, parking took me a little bit to figure out. Park next to the Turnip Truck. It's all paid parking, but the first hour is free, so take that into account when you decide how early you are going to arrive. I haven't gotten a ticket yet but I always kind of worry that I might if I get out of class too late--although I have heard that if you put the little barre3 bumper sticker next to your parking ticket on your dash, the parking people will be a little bit more understanding. Apparently there is a weekly barre3 code you can put in the machine to get 90 minutes for $1, but I'm cheap and also haven't been able to make them work the two times I tried them.
