We had a large project to redo retaining walls, a wood patio, and add plants throughout our steep backyard - Tsering and his crew showed up on time every day and worked efficiently, while also maintaining attention to details. Tsering gave us a clear vision of what our backyard end state should look like after a single visit - he and his crew delivered us a beautiful and magical backyard that even our 4.5 year old loves spending time in. In addition to the quality and beautiful work, we appreciated that Tsering would steer us away from design decisions that wouldn't be easy to maintain or aesthetically pleasing in the long run. We feel very fortunate to have worked with Tsering on this project!

This is now our second time using Tsering for his landscaping services. He is a master at his craft and has redesigned both our backyard and front yard into something out of architectural digest magazine! He's easy to work with, honest, comparable in cost to other contractors and has impeccable taste. 10/10 recommend!

Amazing. High ROI. A+. Tsering is truly a gifted landscape architect. He is also professional, efficient, and hard-working. Tsering recently finished a large project on my home. I get daily compliments about my landscaping from random people walking around in the neighborhood. We love it. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. You'd be lucky to have him.

Tsering and his team are INCREDIBLE! We recommend them to anyone needing a total backyard renovation. Our backyard was just a strip of dirt and they turned it into an oasis with a wooden deck, privacy wooden structure for our hot tub and cold plunge, turf, built in seating and firepit area, and gorgeous greenery that is low maintenance (with built in irrigation system). They did the job very quickly, respectful (they always left the space clean after coming each day), fairly priced, and so easy to work with. Thank you Tsering, you gave us our dream back yard!

Final product from Tsering and his team.

Tsering / Shambhala just completed our backyard remodel, and we couldn't be happier. They remodeled our backyard from an unusable space to a spacious and beautiful getaway. Tsering was accommodating with his scheduling, and prompt in all of his replies. He and his team completed all the work in only a few weeks; very impressive given the existing mess back there from old hedges, rose bushes, and aging trees. He made recommendations along the way related to plant types, layouts, and more that stayed within our style. He also was flexible when we made some design decisions along the way that deviated from the original plan. The best part was that Tsering was able to span both designing and doing the work. Many other places will only do the design (expensive landscape architects) or the work (gardeners who may not be equipped for iterating on a vision). Tsering bridges both, which we appreciated so that we could be confident that our vision would be executed on without having to involve multiple parties. We fell in love with Tsering's style, and how it came to life with our flagstone patio, artificial grass, japanese maples, bamboo, lemon and lime trees, and more. We highly recommend Tsering for any backyard remodels and landscaping. Happy to provide more detailed references via DM if desired.

Tsering is one of the best contractors I've worked with! He's very creative and really sweats the details, which shows in the final product. Our backyard turned out very functional and beautiful! Our house is built on a steep hill so it was hard for us to see how we would utilize the backyard space because we had two retaining walls that minimized the main area. Tsering proposed a great solution that maximized the main area and we couldn't be happier. Everything his team built -- the fence, deck, geometric stone area, concrete seat and retaining wall, fire pit, bbq area, shower, and sauna foundation were constructed very well. He balanced functionality, symmetry, and simple & modern aesthetic very well. Whenever I brought up concerns, he happily addressed them to meet my needs. I would definitely work with him again if I have the chance.

We worked with Tsering and his crew during August 2020 and it was a great experience. We originally did not have a good idea of what was possible but saw pictures on his Yelp page and showed them to him for the rough design concept. He worked with us to come up with a similar design that fit our space and preferred maintenance level. Tsering was very accommodating and easy to reach during the entire process from concept through construction and even after with plant care tips and additional suggestions. The price was reasonable and he and the crew worked efficiently, about 4 sessions over 3-4 weeks. Overall we're very happy with the results! Covid considerations - We appreciated that they wore masks while they were working and did not need to come inside the house at all. It was very hygienic and we all kept a safe distance.

We recently had Tsering return to do some maintenance and repair work on the gardens he created for us in 2012/13. It was such a pleasure to reconnect with him and his team. In just a few days he had our outdoor spaces looking like new. He was able to wash and re-stain all the fencing and completely refinish the deck. He added new strengthening pieces to two bamboo enclosures he had built in the original design which look great and compliment the overall appearance. He built and installed a stronger gate to improve security and cleaned and adjusted a water feature which needed attention. As always, he was prompt in providing proposals, estimates and work schedules. We were so happy to have Tsering come back and make our gardens beautiful once again. We admire his vast knowledge, esthetics and remarkable abilities. We absolutely love working with him. We can recommend Shambhala Landscapes without hesitation! Thank you Tsering.

Wow! Tsering and his crew just finished our beautiful backyard addition and we are beyond thrilled. From beginning to end Tsering was not only pleasant to work with he was professional and a true visionary. He transformed a steep hill filled with weeds into a beautiful oasis. Tsering met with us and completed extensive plans that were required by our HOA for a deck extension, two retaining walls, a blue stone patio, a built in BBQ, fire pit with built in seating, landscaping and very detailed irrigation, drainage and lighting plans. Once they got to work I was impressed with the speed, efficiency and extreme attention to detail they displayed. We were also very impressed with the calm and respectable manner in which they spoke to and worked alongside one another (which has not always been the case with other companies we have worked with). We turned over a lot of the vision to Tsering and we are so happy we did. The completed project is STUNNING. We feel so lucky that our family is able to enjoy this beautiful new space every day. We feel just as lucky that we found the right person and company to do this project.

Tsering and company are miracle workers. They took our small and blasé backyard and transformed it into a beautiful urban oasis. In the span of 3 weeks, I watched a patch of crappy sod and poorly crafted decks turn into a beautiful, hardscaped backyard complete with amazing flora, a natural gas firepit and an amazing outdoor kitchen. Tsering came over and consulted free of charge and emailed me a proposal based on some work he had done before and what we wanted in a yard. We changed a few plants, but overall loved the work he proposed. Tsering gave us a time and price estimate and we shook hands. During the construction, I gave the team our garage clicker and they were extremely conscientious about keeping everything but the backyard clean. They worked from 8-5 everyday with Tsering there most days. He kept me in the loop about the progress, but for the most part I left them alone. The job finished up a week early and was actually cheaper than I though. How many contractors can you say that about? Couldn't be more pleased with the team and the job they did.

I hired Shambhala to build out a garden design in our typical SF back yard; typical because it is small and shady, but full of potential. Tsering proved not only knowledgeable about plants and their care but also an excellent project- and client-manager. He did the construction work as well as laying in the soil, helping select and deliver the plants and of course, all the planting. He also designed irrigation and lighting for the garden and has done its maintenance for a year as the garden has filled in and developed. I am completely happy with Tsering's/Shambhala's work. He is quiet, considered and careful. I always enjoyed our conversations about plants and their care and when we had the occasional problem (why do our citrus leaves look so yellow?) he had a ready answer (which he had already implemented before I brought it up). His costs are eminently reasonable and it's clear he takes pride in his work. The pièce de résistance of his creative efforts resulted from my noticing an unused long piece of granite, part of the lot we had bought for a stone path, left untouched. We came up with the idea of using that stone and some other left-over granite to create a rustic, organic bench (take a look at the pictures). We were all quite pleased. I'm sure being a Tibetan (and a scholar!) doesn't automatically make you a spiritual person--but when Tsering finished the bench, he said it brought harmony to the whole. I couldn't agree more.

    Puppy for scale.

I work for an elementary school, and the team was very flexible with the school's hours and difficult access. Ambar in the front office always emailed back quickly and with kindness and enthusiasm! Daniel came for a preliminary site visit and was very clear about the project possibilities and limitations. When Carlos and the team came for the actual project, they went above and beyond to deliver the project outcomes. They worked alongside our school volunteers for the second day of the project, and the volunteers loved chatting with the team! I would highly recommend them to do any landscaping work you may have. Their front office, supervisors and project staff are completely customer oriented. Shout out to Rachel, Daniel, Dorian, Francisco and Eli. I found them on Yelp and their profile and reviews gave us the perception of a high quality and professional landscape company. as such I felt their pricing may be a bit high. I used Yelp to contact and communicate with them initially. Rachel impressively returned my request for information the same day. I also reached out to 2 other companies at the same time. My initial request was for weed clearing and contouring the front yard. They in fact quoted the highest price for this work. I then asked the three firms to quote the entire front yard landscaping project and this is where Go Green Landscape won me over. I had a plan sketch drawing of the yard with dimensions and notes of what we were looking for. Daniel came out to review this with me. He was patience and knowledgeable to the point where I felt comfortable working with Go Green. (I suggest you have some plans prepared so they can quote properly.) I gave them materials and finishes we desired and wanted to match some existing work we had done. Their quote came back detailed and precise. Everything was documented and clear. Granted we went back and forth a few times to make sure all items, details and costs were accounted for but Rachel handled this like a champ. Dorian, Francisco, Eli and the Team came out to start work. Let me just say these guys know what they are doing. They cleared the front yard in the first day! Then area by area, section by section they worked with me to bring our front yard concept to life. We opted for a super low maintenance design. Retaining wall blocks, pavers, crushed rock, artificial turf and river rock. The quality of care and professional work they provided will impress you. They went back and forth to dump site to drop off waste and to vendors to pick up materials as needed. They shifted workers from job to job as the work progressed. Seems like a well oiled machine with good organization. All in all the work was done timely and we are very happy with the final product. Give them a call!! Check out our before and after images

I first met Humberto when I opened a Yelp project ticket in January. He was not only quick to respond, (he came over within an hour, on a Sunday), he also was transparent in his pricing and had great suggestions. I could tell he knew a lot about gardening. Humberto and Alejandro came in January for the first visit, and as was right for the season, they pruned all of the bushes, weeded the mulch and stone areas, and mowed the lawn. I liked them so much that first visit we made a plan for the next visit in the spring, which happened today! Humberto brought just the stone I wanted (he knew it by name when he saw it the first time), to refresh the old stone and also brought the mulch that we had talked about- both in the perfect quantity. Today they also mowed and fertilized the grass (the right time of year for that now), cleaned up all of my pots, put new plants in huge heavy ceramic pots, replanted some outlier succulents from the stone area, and did a thoughtful cleanup all around. He advised me about "sunny plants" and "shady plants" too, which was very useful. The yard is beaming with Springtime! Humberto is busy for a good reason, so plan for that, but a shiny well thought out garden is a joy.

Paul is a good guy. He communicates well over text & phone and in person. He is trying to run a small business in a hard environment. I root for people like Paul. I like hiring people like Paul. Usually that works out; in this case, it did not entirely. I had Paul do some yard work for me. The main project was turf install. I'l get to that in a second. In addition, Paul also did some yard cleanout and some new plant install. Those things went very well. I'll add those pics later. The turf was the main project, and where most of the expense was. The end product is really not good. I've had many people --a half dozen --both from the trades and friends who have installed turf --take a look and all have pointed out the many ways it is subpar, which I've attached pictures of below. 1. The seam is in the wrong place. It simply is in the most visible place and unnecessarily. To his credit, Paul owned that this was a mistake placement, but didn't correct the job. 2. The seam is not tight --it's scrunched and pulls up anywhere you pull on it. 3. The edges are messy --see pics 4. The edges are not secure --see pics. 5. It's not at all graded --it has mounds throughout. I'm not sure how this is possible, as grading is a very basic thing one does before install. It's perhaps the most noticeable bad element of the job. To Paul's absolute credit, he was always responsive when I complained, but I knew it wasn't going anywhere --I was pushing a rock up a hill: he and I simply disagreed on what turf should look like when it's done, and I just grew tired of calling out problems when the fundamental problem is mine: I should have hired someone else. Win some lose some. To summarize, if I had to do it differently I * would not make final payment until I'm satisfied (not the first time I've made this mistake!) * would hire Paul for yard cleanup and light landscaping * would hire someone else for turf
