Absolutely Disgraceful! I recently had the misfortune of using Shampooches Pet Spa LLC dog grooming service in Kenilworth, and my experience was beyond appalling. I've been here multiple times before in the past, with the normal charge being around $150-$170 for a full grooming (not including tax and my usual 20% tip) for my 45-lb golden doodle. This time, however, they tried ripping me off by charging $270! (Not including tax or my normal 20% tip.) Not only did they try to stick me with outrageous charges for a basic groom that the owner claimed took only 2.5 hours, but when I questioned the price and asked why its double than normal, the owner got belligerent with me. I had every right to ask why the price is double, I constantly bath and brush my dog, even the night before to make your job easier. The owner Erica had the audacity to threaten to hold my dog hostage unless I paid up! THIS IS DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR FROM A DOG GROOMING BUSINESS! The situation escalated to the point where I had to call the police to have an officer come and explain the law to the business owner, Erica--that holding a pet hostage as payment is not only unethical but illegal. Additionally, when I mentioned disputing the charge with my credit card company, they insisted on cash only, which is another shady business practice. We eventually agreed on a price--$200 (plus tax), totaling $215--which is the most I have ever paid here for my regular grooming service. THE OWNER, ERICA, THEN HAD THE NERVE TO SAY, "NO TIP?!" WHEN I HIT NO TIP! YOU THINK I'M GOING TO TIP YOU AFTER ALL THIS?! The staff was unprofessional, rude, and clearly more interested in scamming clients and holding my dog ransom than in providing a decent service. After further inspection when I brought my dog home, I realized they did a horrible job--uneven cuts, and she still smelled as if she hadn't been bathed at all. This place does not deserve a single star, but I'm forced to give one just to post this review. If you care at all about your pet's well-being or your wallet, steer clear of this establishment. Their tactics are not just unethical; they're downright criminal! Avoid at all costs unless you want your day ruined and your pet traumatized. read more

Erica has been grooming our dogs for close to 10 years. Our first set of dogs grew old(very old) under her care. She always took the best care of them even when they couldn't stand for the duration of their baths . No complaints just pure compassion . Fast forward to our current two dogs(both under the age of 2 ) they love going to her new place in Kenilworth! When I tell you they go in total dirtbags that would be an understatement and they come out pristine and smelling divine. My 2 girls love going to Shampooches ! I've never had an issue getting in contact with the facility and i'm always scheduled quickly and efficiently. I've even been able to schedule same day on some of their "walk-in" available days. They have never overbooked and my dogs are ready between 2-3 hours at most. One of my girls is a Pomeranian with a condition where she can't have anything around her neck and Shampooches still manages to not only keep my baby safe but also sends her home looking like a little cloud. We've had experiences where my dogs come home sad and anxious from grooms but when they come home from Shampooches they're always happy ! We just got a new puppy and once we're cleared by the vet to groom he will also be a loyal Shampooch ! Thank you for all your hard work ! read more

They never answer the phone so I walked in one evening with my pup to ask for pricing info... so unprofessional to have a half naked teenage receptionist who stated that she's also a groomer. She didn't even know how to answer any of my questions... definitely would not want my pup in hands of such amateurs. Answering calls & professionalism needs to be improved read more

Erica was wonderful, efficient, experienced and really accommodated my urgent need to get my dog taken care of. Due to a family emergency and my having to come to north Jersey, and my dog's regular appointment had to be canceled, Erica came through. 5 Stars because of her service to the customer. This number was given 2 with a recommendation that it was a serious, reliable groomer. After talking to Stephanie got a quote for 1 dog and asked to send pictures so she can quote me on the other 2 which she never did. The day b4 the appt still no word from her so I tried contacting her even the friend who recommended tried getting a hold of her tried contacting her but she just ignored us. My dog is 15 and not in great shape so i didn't want to drag him to a groomer where he would sit in a cage for a few hours. So i called Shampooches and i was very happy with their service. Let me start off by saying I fell in love with the way they cut my dogs hair. He was always in and out (less then an hour). The price was fair. I didn't have any issues until it happen, not once, not twice but 3 times that I was scheduled an appointment and then she just wouldn't show up, wouldn't answer or let me know that she want going to make it. Just had our senior dog groomed by Erica and couldn't be happier. First of all, she responsed to my message and scheduled us for an appointment within a day. Showed up right on time and didn't take long to transform our little guy into a sweet smelling, handsome looking fellow.
