My youngest has several food allergies, severe (anaphylaxis) the staff is fully trained, they are an inclusive camp, meaning she can eat and participate in EVERY activity. This is extremely important for any kid of any age, to feel included and part of everything and something. I highly highly recommend this. Wekeela also is great because you can extend your time there easily, and if you hate it (which I really doubt you will) you will probably be allowed to un-extend. Last summer I went to camp for four weeks, and even in my second year I was still making friends and looking forward to meeting new people! I can't say enough good things about Wekeela. On the last day I was crying my eyes out from dinner to the end of campfire and after camp ended every night I facetimed my friends and became extremely camp sick. I love camp so much that I am going for seven weeks next summer; and considering my past experiences with camps, that's a big deal. If you want a carefree, fun, socialized summer, come to camp Wekeela. Trust me.

Maria (who runs the center) just flat out cares. She is incredibly thorough in how she and her team look over the kids. She doesn't look at this as "babysitting", she looks at this as a proper school. She highly emphasizes education and constant broadening of the childrens' horizons, and she knows all of the kids in the school very well. Even more, as our son was starting their program she actively encouraged us to stop by with him after hours multiple times, to acclimate him to the environment before starting up. She did everything she could to make sure our child had the smoothest startup possible, and as a result he adjusted really quickly all things considered. I cannot recommend this school enough, it has been an entirely positive experience and I feel my child is being cared for so much more than at some of the local franchised daycares we visited. (Also regarding cost, interestingly they're on the better value side of tuition rates for the area)

My 2-yr old son was in another daycare for a few months and he was bitten by the first month. And then he started biting other kids the following months while that other biting kid was separated to another room. We tried our best to stop him, engaged a speech/behavioral therapist counseling to see what was wrong with him. The therapist said there was nothing wrong with him and was surprised to hear him biting other kids at daycare. The daycare basically gave us a two week warning, that if this happens again, we would need to find a babysitter. We were terrified! By then we were starting doing research around new schools. We visited this school, where Ms. Maria said "please never schedule to go visit the school. Come visit us at any time!!" We did visit unannounced, and Ms. Maria toured us around while hearing our story about biting. She was disheartened to hear about the biting and told us to "never let others label your child." I basically bursted out crying at this and Ms. Maria assured that that will not happen at her school, because she had other kids from his then current daycare have exactly the same issue and came to her school and the kid never bit others any more. There were other kids from other daycare also came because they were unhappy, and she said they were all doing great. I could kind of believe it because the school was so big and open inside, and they basically rotated the rooms throughout the day so the kids get different themed rooms throughout the day. The kids were limited in numbers, the teachers were happy and engaged at all times, and there were intellectual stimulations all around. Like one room was filled with puzzles and trucks, the next room was about music, and then the kitchen, etc. we were so impressed and felt supported. We took her offer to try out a week. As soon as he started going to this school, he never bit any kid or even attempted to do so. They told us he is having a great time and that he is smiling all day. It's been a few weeks now and he is still enjoying the school and he is much, much happier now than ever. I initially didn't look at this place because it was farther than other schools close to our house. But I have heard great stories on a private facebook group of our neighborhood and wanted to just check out how it is. And now I am blown away by the amount of personal, family like environment that the school carries. I am so so glad I got to know Ms. Maria and the crew. I did get to meet one of the other moms who had the same situation and they had exactly the same positive experience at this school for many months now. I booked her party 5 months in advance and paid for two extra hours, specifically because I wanted the gym privately for the full 4 hours. Our party was scheduled from 1-5 PM. About one week before the party, I received a call saying that the last hour (4-5 PM) would now be open play, and that the pricing for the second additional hour had changed. While they said they wouldn't charge me the new price since I booked far in advance, I expressed how upset I was that this change was communicated so late. Had I known sooner, I would have adjusted the party time to avoid open play altogether. I was then told on the phone that there was no guarantee anyone would come in during that last hour, which turned out to be completely untrue. On the day of the party, we felt rushed to go into the party room and was told we couldn't enter the play area because another group/party was already using it, meaning our party was overlapped with another event. To add even more stress, I received a call the day before the party saying there might be an additional cleanup fee. This was surprising, especially since my friend has hosted two parties here before and was never charged a cleanup fee. What should have been a joyful, stress-free experience for my daughter's first birthday turned into unnecessary anxiety and frustration due to poor communication and last-minute changes. I'm really disappointed, especially given how much I previously loved this place. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd host another party here again.

Manhattan fencing is the best sabre club in the country and I am so excited that they started this…read more3rd location in Waldwick. All the coaches here are very good with kids of all ages and they are extremely experienced with a great reputation in the fencing community. My children initially tried all 3 weapons and picked sabre since it's fast paced and more dynamic/fun (each bout/tournament also takes a lot less time than Epee or Foil which is a big advantage for parents!). During high school junior year my child is already recruited to fence as NCAA athlete at a great college and the MFC club/coaches have been providing the best training and extremely encouraging and supportive throughout the process. I also like the fact that Manhattan has multiple locations including Manhattan (b/w 5th and 6th Ave and 37th street with easy access via public transportation) since there are so many nationally/internationally rated/ranked fencers to fence with which is a true advantage and not many clubs provide this opportunity. This Waldwick location is very well maintained and programs are well organized and you can choose lessons from well known, experienced coaches who are very good with kids, I strongly recommend parents especially with young children have their kids try since Sabre fencing is a fantastic way to be physically fit and an excellent extracurricular (EC) activity down the road. There are many age groups and class offerings between Waldwick and Englewood in Bergen County with an option to fence in Manhattan as well on Fridays and Saturdays. This Waldwick location is also well maintained with a great area where parents can watch their kids training and there is a space where kids can do homework etc while waiting for their classes. This is such a caring, supportive community with a good team/club spirit. Kids love to fence and hang out with their club friends! I highly recommend!

Superdome Sports in Waldwick has AWFUL customer service. I emailed them to see if I could register…read moremy child for a clinic. They responded it wouldn't be a problem. I registered and paid for the clinic immediately. When I showed up for the first day, they first told me we were late and that I had the wrong time. When I showed them my invoice and their website they then said I couldn't have registered for that clinic because it doesn't exist. It is STILL on the website. They are refusing to refund me. They refuse to admit their mistake. They never informed me of any potential changes or that what I had paid for would not be offered. They took my money and did not provide the service that I paid for. Everyone should avoid this place for their shady business practices.

The coaches seem well schooled in fundamentals and my 8 year old is well challenged in his 2 - one hour weekly sessions. This is not club soccer for sure - more like winter training to build foot skills and confidence - but for the price ($100 for each 8 week session) and given about 10 kids per class, it suits us. Our youngster has already improved in a short few weeks. If your kid is the star of his club team, this may seem elementary. But if he or she is like the vast majority of youngsters who play rec soccer in nj, this program is a nice way to reinforce the skills they learned in summer and fall. Review for the Coding Academy only…read more This is marketed as coding instruction for grammar school age children -- our 11 year old attends once a week for 90 minutes. Has a day care feel to it -- since that's Little Ivy's historical mission. They are now expanding their repertoire to specialty classes and summer camps -- and it makes sense given the available space. The activity is OK with our youngster -- but I expected a little more rigor -- including actual coding. It is more of an elaborate gaming experience -- where the kids create characters to which they assign certain attributes -- then plug the characters into pre-programmed mazes. The attributes dictate how the characters react and the noises they make -- etc. This is cutesy -- but not the sort of low level programming with logic building that I expected. So long as junior enjoys himself and learns something -- I'm staying open minded -- and will revisit this review once the class is over.

I inquired as to why my kids were not in the 6-8 grade group and was told that there were to enough campers and that the curriculum was the same for grades 3-5 as grades 6-8.
