The service at Shane Co. Is great as long as you can get some service. It's never more than a 10-15 minute wait, which isn't that long, but it does get a bit boring walking around looking at jewelry you have no intention of buying when you are really there for just one thing. The staff is always really friendly. It's something I love about this place. Their website is an awesome way to shop before you try things on. I love their warranties on engagement and wedding rings. The jewelry is a bit pricier than other places but I feel like you are paying for the quality, service, and awesome warranty all wrapped up into one price. We recently got my engagement ring here. We've been together for 7 years in July, and so now we were going to make it more official. I decided to go to check out a couple of places before my fiancee and I went and look. So the day before I went with my friend to Helzberg and checked out what they had. I was so anxious and indecisive, couldn't figure out what I really liked. We decided to go to Shane Co just to see what they had. I was pretty sure that I would get my engagement ring at La Rog because they are local and that is exactly what my fiancee wanted, he didn't want a bunch of mark up from the chains. We went to Shane Co and I really can't remember for sure how I got to the ring I did. But I found this halo ring section and really liked it. Also the salesperson was super nice to provide us with water during the hot day, we really needed it!! At the time, she couldn't find a white gold setting I wanted, so I tried the yellow and rose gold setting. I actually started to like the rose gold. Anyway, we went through multiple shapes and somehow we got to the point to having a circle diamond to a cushion setting. At first, I really had a hard time with the settings and stones being separate, didn't think I could really completely picture the finished product. But I got used to it and looking back, I like that model. After reviewing everything, my friend and I left with a pamphlet and details on their warranty and what I looked at. The next day, my fiancee and I went to La Rog and all of their rings were fake and complete. I didn't really see anything I liked 100% and I kept thinking about the service and selection at Shane Co. So my fiancee and I left La Rog and went over to Shane Co. At Shane Co, I showed my fiancee what I liked and he liked everything but the rose gold (he liked white gold more), but we selected the setting. Then the salesperson was nice enough to allow us to sit somewhere and review diamonds for the setting. I personally didn't care much about the details of the diamond, so I left that up to my fiancee. The salesperson was super nice about his constant back and forth on the diamonds. We purchased on a Sunday afternoon and it was ready to pick up Tuesday!! My wife and I stopped in to look for a couple of items and browse around for a bit. Amanda walked up to greet us and asked us if we were looking for something specific. After she led us over to a case she offered to have our rings cleaned while we browsed, so we de-jeweled ourselves and handed them over and received them back a short time later, sparkling clean (Excellent customer service example #1). Amanda was wonderful to work with. She was not only extremely knowledgeable about the products, but she was also very welcoming, down to earth and had a great sense of humor (at least she laughed at my jokes, which implies an excellent sense of humor). We had bought our wedding set there and we mentioned that for the past few years, every time we came in it took forever to look us up in the computer because we were in the "old" system. After she heard that Amanda insisted that she could get us updated in the computer so we didn't have to go through that again. She didn't tell us to go back to their customer service area, but instead took care of it right on the floor! (ECSE #2) While she was cleaning up our account in the system, she asked for my email address so she could contact me about possible gifts for my wife. I thought that all I'd end up with was spam, but I was proven wrong. We then ended up buying a couple of items and headed on our way. A few days after our visit, I did indeed get an email from Amanda stating that the earrings for a ruby pendant my wife was looking at weren't in stock, but she had contacted the buyer and they could have it for us in 8-10 weeks, right in time for my wife's birthday. My soon-to-be husband presented me with a custom engagement ring last summer. (I know, he's a Champ!) The ring demands a custom-made wedding band and we needed a nice ring for him that looks 'artsy'. After the ridiculous pricing and lack of direction of some jewelry designers, we decided to stop in the Shane Company. We were immediately greeted by an upbeat sales clerk who was awesome and un-snobby. She showed us some great rings for my soon-to-be Boss and had a design made up by their lab in no time. Both at very reasonable prices, I might add. We left with his ring and my new band was ready in less than two weeks. When we picked it up, the staff that runs that department were also awesome. After dealing with Shane Co. quite a few times, I now feel pretty loyal to them. My now-husband and I first went to see them when we just beginning to look at engagement rings for ideas. They were very helpful, not pushy, very patient and educated us on the 4 C's. They also have a huge variety of engagement rings. We got some ideas, and they put the styles we liked in the computer for the future. Fast forward some months later, my then-boyfriend went in to pick out a ring. He said they were helpful and patient when it came time for him to pick out a diamond, and they showed him a wide variety of options in his budget - they didn't try to push him to spend more money like other jewelry places. He picked out a setting, diamond and a few days later picked it up and it turned out perfect! We of course went back there to pick out our wedding bands - and had the same great experience. Patience, knowledge, variety and not pushy. We picked out a wedding band for my husband that needed to be sized up. The sales associate told us that this particular ring should be able to be sized up, but she couldn't say for sure because of some of the material on the ring. We decided to purchase it and see what happened. A couple days later Shane Co called and told us that the ring in fact wasn't able to be sized up - they tried and it broke because it thinned out too much because of the material. While we were disappointed, we were able to pick out another ring and get it just in time for the wedding! It is so refreshing to go to a jewelry store and not have to be armed with excuses as to why you aren't going to buy right then and there. I have "a friend in the diamond business" but it's not Shane Co. I purchased a pair of diamond stud earrings for my wife's Christmas gift. Shane Co guaranteed that I would not find equal quality or value anywhere else. Later the same day I was shopping at Costco and looked at their jewelry case. Costco offered what appeared to be high quality diamond earrings for 30% less. I bought them, and returned to Shane Co the same day. When I told the sales person I wanted to return the earrings that I had purchased a few hours earlier, he naturally asked why. Without telling him where I had purchased them, I stated that I found another pair that I liked more at another store. He asked if he could examine my purchase; took them into a room in the back, and returned a few minutes later. He said "the quality of these stones is very high, and would be wasted on stud earrings. You paid too much for diamonds that would be better suited for center stones in a ring". He then asked if I would mind sharing how much I paid. I told him $300 less, and showed him my Costco receipt. He kindly refunded my money. Costco has an okay selection between their online store and warehouse offerings. I think Shane Co. provides good service, and great selection, but their pricing is not competitive for the more "common" jewelry offered by Costco, or Blue Nile. Shane Co. in Tigard is hands down your best choice when looking for an engagement ring or any jewelry for that matter. By far the BEST customer service I've had at any jewelry store I've been to. I love the fact that the employees don't work off commission, it really shows in their service that they are really there to help you find what you want-not what gets them the biggest commission check. I picked up a ruby necklace for my wife here recently. The associate helping me was very nice and not pushy. I wasn't sure if they haggled on the price so I gave it a shot, and they do not at all. I still got what I felt was a pretty good deal. They offer lifetime warranties on their jewelry and also offer the full price you paid on your stones (I think that's the proper term) if you bring it back to upgrade. I also made a necklace by picking out the setting and ruby. I ordered this on a Friday and it was available on Monday, so pretty quick turnaround. I imagined in years past that if I came in as a single person, a blinking light would appear over my head and someone would yell, "desperate single female" and ask me to leave until I was properly involved in a serious relationship. Okay all that aside.... The Shane Co. folks really helped my fiance and I make a decision about a ring. Our salesperson, Katie, was helpful, without being overbearing. She helped us find the perfect set and followed up with my fiance to see if he was ready to "commit" to the set. Well he was, and we had a successful sale. AMAZING customer service. ALWAYS helpful. Never pressure you. The people here are so friendly. They never have a problem when I go in there to clean my jewelry. Last time I needed to get my ring re-plated and they miraculously had an opening to do it the same day. This place is amazing. I will continue to purchase my jewelry here. I used to go into Tiffany's and they would make me feel awkward and try to sell me something that I didn't want. I felt judged and uncomfortable every time I went in. I thought it would be the same at Shane CO. BUT I HAVE ONLY FELT WELCOMED at Shane Co. I will never go back to another jewelry store that pays their employees commission. The low pressure sale, the fact that I told Chad my rep a budget and he worked exactly in it. The fact that NO ONE tried to offer me credit to buy more than I could afford. I've been wanting to write a review forever in hopes their customer service would change but it doesn't. My husband bought an anniversary diamond halo band but I didn't like it. It just didn't match my original gold wedding set. We ended up upgrading my whole wedding set. The jump up in price was at least 2,000$ sale. The original man who sold my husband ditched us after he realized I didn't want the halo ring. He didn't even think to upsell us. Luckily, Carolyn (who's no longer there which is a shame) took the time to listen to me and show me things to the upsell. I never planned to upgrade my gold original wedding band. But Carolyn knew how to sell and she was awesome. The aftercare of a ring at Shane is really what the review is for. They are so over the top, wonderful to sell you a ring. They are shark like about it. However, afterwards you are annoying to them and they really don't want to deal with you. I bring my ring in once a year (3 times so far) and each year I come home crying. They don't want to deal with you afraid they will lose another big sale. Today was the last straw. I'm leaving my ring for 3 days. They usually downgrade my ring (even thought it's their design). Yes, they greet you nice but once you say I'm here to get my ring check; the attitude changes. Ask to have it polished. Excuses why it can't be. Now, I am comparing them to Robbins brothers. I bought a brand new wedding band with diamonds for my husband because he lost his original one. I had to start anew. The aftercare at rb is amazing. They treat you like an old friend and they try to do everything and more for you. They always suggest polishing. Especially since I had them alter the original design on the ring. They never gave me attitude for that. They have treated me like a queen. Since then we've bought lots of rings from them because of the way they treat us. When my husband bought that band from Shane, I've asked him... Why? Robbins is so amazing to us. But he was treated so nice in the beginning, he had no idea they would be like this now. ***update***2:30 pm John, the operations manager did his level best to smooth things over and tried to put me at ease. I had to come back an hr after drop off because my diamond appraisal was much higher than what they gave me. So he saw how upset I was and tried to help. On our first trip we were just looking: our sales associate showed us ALOT of rings and we left with ideas and things to think about... no pressure. We went in thinking that I'd be getting a non-diamond ring due to concerns about how diamonds are acquired (conflict diamonds). We left with information about the Kimberley Process, which we researched online. On our second trip we were close to a decision. Again, no pressure, saw every ring we requested, every diamond we requested, etc. The process made us comfortable with the large purchase, and the ring actually looks BETTER than we expected. I have been a customer of the Shane Co. ever since my first "attempted" proposal at age 21 about 18 yrs ago. They were awesome helping me pick out a ring back then, and were totally understandable when I came in with my tail between my legs having been denied and wanting to return the ring. Fast forward 18 years later and after finally marrying that first girl (finally 5 yrs ago, after 3 failed attempts) we just got our rings upgraded. They were so helpful and awesome and their customer service went above and beyond to make the experience just perfect. You never realize how important the place you pick your most important possessions are until years down the road when they step up and still kill it. Update 2019: I went in to buy the matching wedding band to the engagement ring. I put the ring on layaway and put $200 down on it. I was told I had 6 months to make payments. I came in 2 months later for a ring cleaning and to put more money down, and they told me I didn't have the layaway ring anymore and they put the money on my account instead of refunding it. We got no phone calls about any of this and if I didn't walk into the store, I would not have found out about this. They asked me if I wanted to try starting over but after all this, why would I trust more money into Shane Co? I told the nice lady that helped me this and she told me at any other ring store they wouldn't be on my side. She also mentioned they don't work on commission (so I should expect what? Less than perfect service?) I've wasted so much time going back to the cashier to "work out" the problems with my other ring. Now before I've even gotten the second one, they expect me to keep redoing my transaction. No communication. No transparency. There's some great people that work here but good luck figuring out who that is. It's your dollar and your time, and it's an investment that will require you to walk into that store for each year of your marriage for ring maintenance. They're so nice and helpful when your buying that ring at first. Not so much when you return later and aren't writing them thousand dollar checks. Update 2018: Thad helped me finally get my ring how it should have been from the beginning. It only took me 6 months, and about 10 employees, to find someone bold enough to fix what went wrong. I must have left my ring for repair 5 times in those 6 months. Each time, assuring me they'd have their "best" jeweler repair my ring and make it look like new. They botched the job the first time and kept making me bring it in to "fix" it, when Thad finally just replaced the band, had them make my customizations for it, and made sure my stone wasn't destroyed in the process. It was a headache, but it's all good now and my ring looks beautiful. read more

I have bought several rings and loose stones at this store and have returned several times to have them cleaned and I have never had a bad experience. Sales people are attentive, informative and friendly. The store keeps a big selection of loose stones in stock and will spend as much time as necessary educating the customer on stone quality and characteristics. There are no pushy salespeople here. I think their lifetime warranty and cleaning/maintenance services are both generous and efficient. Most recently, I brought a ring in to be adjusted, since the stone kept coming loose. The jeweler found a large chip on the side of the stone, which they bought back at it's full appraised value so that I could purchase a new stone to replace it. My only complaint is that there can be a wait to see a salesperson when the store is particularly busy. read more

This weekend I took my wedding ring into Shane Co to get it fixed. One great benefit to purchasing a ring there is the lifetime warranty. So last week when I noticed a diamond was missing, time to take it to get fixed. On Saturday when I dropped it off the girl that helped me, Catie, was extremely friendly and professional. When she told me it would be ready after 3 PM on Monday I was thrilled! If my story ended there this would be a five star review! Unfortunately it doesn't.... I arrived at Shane Co. Tuesday at 12:20 pm to collect my ring. I was guided back to the cashier who asked my name and checked my ID. Then he got out an envelope and said, "here's your ring". Only problem....it wasn't my ring! When I said that he looked and responded casually, "sure enough, well that's why we draw pictures of it. Let me go find your ring." He comes back a few minutes later saying they still can't find it but rest assured we know it will turn up. Really?! Rest assured it will "turn up"?!!! I waited for over thirty minutes while they looked for my ring. No one coming out and providing me status. At this point I'm crying since I'm also nine months pregnant, emotional and thinking my wedding ring is lost forever. Now that I've waited so long I have to leave in order to make it to a doctors appointment. I actually had to go and request to speak to a manager. Really? I would think if you've misplaced a customers wedding ring sending a manager out would be at the top of your customer service priorities. The operations manager, John, took full responsibility for their error and called me ten minutes after I left to let me know they had found my ring. However, the cavalier attitude of all the staff regarding the misplacement of my ring has left a horrible impression. I understand mistakes happen but in this instance Shane Co. customer service was severely lacking. read more

Had a really disappointing experience at Shame Co yesterday. I took my engagement ring in to be serviced., as one of the small side diamonds had fallen out. We were helped by a really unpleasant woman named Kwan. While she was processing the service request, I mentioned I might like to upgrade my wedding band for an upcoming anniversary present, and asked if they still had a band that I had my eye on in stock. She said it was in back, and asked when that anniversary would be (over a year from now). She then got very rude and said she wasn't going to waste her time to bother fetching it from the back in that case. I told her I'd still like to see it, and she begrudgingly grabbed it for me. My family's bought our jewelry from Shane Co. for years now. Even though we always get great service, this last experience was beyond phenomenal and probably just guaranteed our business for a very long time. On our wedding day about a month ago, my rings (the bride's engagement and wedding rings) disappeared. Though the warranty at Shane Co. covers most everything, it doesn't cover loss or theft. We were pretty upset about not having my rings for the wedding (hello, Claire's!), and after we got back from our honeymoon, we gave Shane Co. a call. I spoke with a manager, Joe Seitz, who told me that they typical thing they can do is offer a slight discount to whatever we purchase. Well, better than nothing I guess. After further explaining the whose situation to Joe, our financial situation/budget, what we were hoping to get out of these new rings, our other options, etc, he called us back and managed to work an even better, fantastic deal with us that was very helpful and wallet-friendly, considering we will now have one ring for the price of two. On top of all of this, we're originally from Beaverton but now live in Seattle... and couldn't come down again any time soon and needed the ring while we were still in town (who wants to send 2 diamond rings in the mail, or pay crazy fees?), so we only had until Tuesday. They said it wouldn't be ready until Wednesday (for re-sizing/mounting/etc), but then after explaining to them the whole Seattle situation, they were nice enough to push some things around and get it taken care of by Tuesday for us. Awesome! Their diamonds are already an exceptional price in comparison to other places, comparing the same size and quality, and already have awesome service... But this most recent experience with Shane Co. and all of the help Joe gave us will certainly guarantee our future business. She remembered our names and what type of wedding we were having. She never went past our price range to look at flashier rings and really helped us narrow down our decisions. I love Shane Co. and recommend them to everyone! I may look for employment there if I move to Oregon in October. What I don't understand in some of these negative reviews are to the comments that the sales persons demeanor and customer service changed when they found out that they weren't making the sale they thought. These sales people Don't work on commission, that's what I love about it, no pressure, the customer service should be the same no matter what because it's not based on what they sell, as far as I know. read more

Melanie deserves 10 stars - she saved me from emotional distress and a huge financial burden. I came in today with my engagement ring twerked from slamming my hand in a door. Unfortunately it was unfixable, but Melanie did everything she could to take care of me. They allowed me to exchange my 'broken' ring for one of equal or more value, which they never do! WHAT A LIFE SAVER! My bridal shower is in 4 days and wedding is in 2 months, I would have never been able to afford to purchase a new ring. She also helped me find a suitable replacement by educating me on why my old band was so delicate. We found something identical but sturdier and shes going to have it ready for me in just TWO days! Had my fiance not bought my ring here, I would have been SOL. 10 out of 10 stars for Melanie's customer service and for Shane Co helping me in a time of crisis!! read more

Nichol offered 5-star client service. She worked with us for two days (probably 3.5 hrs worth of time). She educated us on diamonds in general, answered all of our questions and brought out a variety of different individual diamonds to look at (3 at a time). If I was rating just her, I'd give 5 stars. The women in the back that take the money aren't nearly as friendly. Haven't had to go in for any services yet. read more

We picked out our engagement ring here. We chose to get the diamond somewhere else and have it placed in the setting. They advertise they aren't on commission but they told us multiple times that if we didn't but the center stone with them, then we wouldn't be able to get the free cleanings and guaranteed diamond replacements on the tiny band diamonds. After we bought the setting anyway, we went at a later date and they said of course they still guarantee the small setting stones and the free cleanings. They obviously just wanted to push us into buying their center stone when we were buyers. This was the original annoyance. 2 stars not 1 because I adore my setting, just not the service. 2nd annoyance-we decided that if we got the ring I wanted, we wouldn't be getting a wedding band. This was a multi thousand dollar split-shank ring and a band wasn't super important to me. As a sweet gesture, my soon-to-be husband took me to Shane Co. to get a cute small band so I would have something as a wedding band. We still spent about $250 and went with 2 very thin bands-1 white gold and 1 rose gold. A few weeks later, I decided to have them soldered together. When I came in, a lady named Kwan assisted me. Her first question for me was "why didn't you get a wedding band with any diamonds?" I thought that was SO RUDE. We bought a very expensive engagement ring from you and my wonderful fiancé was kind enough to buy me cute additional wedding bands and you condescendingly ask me why I didn't get something better? I'm so bummed because I want to like this place but their customer service is simply terrible. read more

Jami could not have made our experience at Shane Co any better. In total we had to go in 3 times and each time Jami was more patient with us than I thought humanly possible (and I'm a mom!). Honestly, not once did she seem annoyed that we couldn't make a decision, that I asked to see a ring then immediately put it back, that we went back and forth between cases, I mean I was annoying myself, so I don't know how she put up with us! We worked together so much that she started anticipating what I was going to ask to see because she had picked up on my sense of taste, she even would run around looking for a specific ring she had in mind for me that she knew I would like. Not only was Jami incredibly patient and nice, but she was so knowledgable! She new so much about diamonds, sapphires, rubies... from the smallest details to the nitty gritty, there was not a single question we had that she didn't know the answer to! And she even taught us about the science of diamonds and how they are made, picked, cut, sparkle, I mean everything! You can tell that she is passionate about it, which I really appreciate, you don't want to be buying a wedding ring from a used cars salesman! This definitely does not seem like just a job for her, she loves it and she made the experience unforgettable for us. I honestly have such high expectations now and would be hard pressed to A. go to any other jeweler and B. work with anyone but Jami at Shane Co. In addition to her patience and attention she gave to me/us at every visit, Jami also answered questions I had after I left via email! I mean honestly, she went above and beyond at every turn. Shane Company's jewelry is unique, there are so many options, definitely something for everyone, and every budget! I am so happy with what we got and I will absolutely not go anywhere else for jewelry. You can't beat their amazing customer service (should I mention Jami's name again, can you tell I am a little obsessed?), their warranty is un-matched, their jewelry is such high quality. If you are on the fence about going, I promise it will be worth the trip!
