Went to Shang Hai for the fist time yesterday and not the best experience. Paid $60 for a one hour massage, and in case the owner reads this, that means 60 minutes as it states on your advertisement on the wall. The first 30 min went fine. The masseuse was then interrupted by someone that walked in and wanted a 30 min massage. She told him she would be done in a couple min, not sure if she knew she had 30 min left with me. The guy went ahead and left even after 4 min of pleading by the masseuse to stay. Upon her failed attempt she came back into the room. I assumed she would finish up the 30 min left. Not a chance. She went 15 more minutes and was done. At that point I was ready to get out of there as it was a waste of $60 bucks. If you do go be aware that time is a subjective commodity to others. read more

This place will be my favorite. The massage is really good and therapist did full an hour. I highly recommend.

A little on the pricey side but it's worth your money to go for an hour long or an hour and a half massage. The oil was great and it was a calming experience. The masseuse constantly checked to make sure that the pressure was ok! Overall I will definitely go back! read more

New management, new pricing, language barriers, etc. I literally used to go to this place about once every 6 or so weeks. Never again. I haven't been for a couple of months.... I come in, wanting the reflexology they have always had that has been always $25. They still have the giant ass banner that says $25. I go in, and the prices are handwritten and scotch taped in front of the register. $25 is only for a chair massage (am I in a freaking shopping mall all of a sudden?) They kept insisting I wanted the $45 massage, and I kept having to explain I wanted the reflexology. The (new?) workers didn't speak a lick of English. Previous people didn't speak much, but when you don't understand the words in English of "Foot" and "Massage," yet that is what you have been doing for literally the past 7+ years, there is more than a language barrier, to say the least. After me literally demonstrating and saying "Hot" and "water," they finally got it. Finally! Final straw....it is now $40 instead of $25, even though it is advertised falsely. When I handed them my credit card, they asked how much for the tip? (Hey, I guess they do know some English). I suggested $8. The women said "No, at least $10," then swiped my card. EXCUSE ME!?!?!?!? Did you just swipe my card with a different amount? There are no signs stating any type of minimum tip. Stay the F away. I am now starting to think the "Language barrier" was a farce to get more money out of me. Bring George back! read more

Imagine tipping 20% and then being told that your tip is not sufficient and that the minimum tip is $5 (which is more than 32% of the fee.) I really enjoyed my massage. I was already thinking about how I'd give them a 5- star rating. And then my head exploded when I was told that I needed to tip more as the man in the bright yellow pants points at a sign on the wall that I never noticed when I walked in. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I doubt it. I think most countries tip less or don't tip at all. But since when is a 20% tip something that gets you sneered at?? A friend suggests this is a way around paying income tax.....charge a lower rate, clobber you for a gigantic tip. Bam! Income goes way down. (especially as the demand was for a cash tip.) read more

So I just finished my treatment for cancer. I lost my hair, its clear by looking at me Ive recently been through it. Slept wrong on my neck (i had throat cancer so neck need massage per dr) i go to this place. Lady doesn't speak very good English whatsoever. But it's no problem we're communicating as best as possible. I have some knots in my back and neck hence the reason why I'm at a massage parlor. The lady proceeds to tell me that I have a tumor in my back. Not only can she not locate "the tumor" but she royally freaked me out. I mean who says that to a bald girl? And don't you know I went to sleep and woke up and the knot was gone. Still freaked me out and was completely unprofessional and entirely unfair to me considering what I've just recently been through. Had a terrible experience my last visit to this place. The manager was rude, finger pointing at my children, calling them bad children. But I didn't wont to leave because had an appointment and drove here from Rocklin. Massage was nice though, but at the end all of them gathered together to demand tips from me( which I always leave), I felt terrible and victimized! Be careful with this place and people, I understand it's a hard job but we are not obligated to leave them a huge tips, and they are not obligated to come to this country to make massage. If they are not happy they can just go back to their countries or learn some manners if they still want to stay. Disappointed. Wanted a deep tissue massage, and it turned out to be I don't even know if that's called a massage. First of all, the lady came in and out 4 times during session, and overall experience wasn't as good. It was suppose to be 60 minutes session, ours was 45, they probably thought we didn't look at the clock. We paid $45 dollars each, and left $10 tip each and they asked for more tips, we were shocked, because who asks like that? Definitely not coming back to this place. read more

Place made you pay ahead of time, left door open during massage wth zero privacy, both masseuses talked loudly and sounded irate in a foreign language for first 10 minutes of experience, used cold towels to wipe you off. Horrible experience. read more

Never a problem getting in on short notice, the therapists listen to your needed areas. Not sure why others had problems, it's very inexpensive compared to 99$ at Massage Envy and they are notorious for "hit and miss" with a good therapist and hard to get appt that isn't scheduled a few weeks in advance. I cancelled my membership at Massage Envy and only use Shanghai now. My favorite is Tommy but so far so good when he's not available. I've never felt pressured to tip but I'm a good tipper anyways, because they try their best to tend to my needs so they deserve it! read more

It's hit or miss at this place. I come here once a month and when the owner is not there, the women will not stop talking while giving massages; very annoying. When the phone rings, they stop and they answer the calls all the time. The massage used to be excellent, but not anymore. They do a much better job with foot massage than their full body massage. I used to give them a $10 or $20 tip, but no longer do it. I am looking for a new place to get a foot/body massage. read more

have been going here for couple years but yesterday was my last visit!! advertise $25 for one hour chair massage but when paying told I was required to leave $10 tip!! for an hour! that's almost 50% !!massage was ok but I usually only tip $5 unless it's exceptional.. This is not the first time. They told me before I was required to give $5 tip for a very painful massage where the guy obviously did not have a clue. I would be surprised to find out if they are even certified massage therapist..??? two other times I was told I was required to pay for massage & tip up front & when I told them "never mind" they quickly said "oh no no; its ok!" My advice is to avoid this highly suspicious business. I went yesterday as I only needed one more stamp to receive free massage but was then told "that is not our policy any longer".
