We've become obsessed (as financially feasible as we can get at least) with thai massages since visiting Thailand in 2023. Let's just say that we enjoy Northern Thai as much as some of the massages we've had in Thailand. There are 4 options for massages - Thai massage which is stretching + massaging with no oil, Swedish which is a relaxing oil massage, Thai-Swedish a mix of the two, and Swedish deep tissue with oil and lots of elbow/forearm for pressure. At this point, I've had them all and highly recommend for starters the combination Thai-Swedish which is a nice mixture of assisted stretching into yoga-like poses with relaxing kneading/gliding of Swedish massage. The masseuses, though tiny in stature, pack a lot of strength and are able to expertly navigate the tight spots that need the most attention. One nice bonus is that they also have heated massage table pads which felt extremely nice during this cold winter afternoon. Be sure to call ahead for an appointment. I've hardly had issues getting a same day appointment. The only negative about Northern Thai is that they have noisy barber shop neighbors, so I recommend ear buds or plugs so that you can really enjoy the massage in peace.

I usually get the builder gel with the cat-eye finish, and it's absolutely worth the extra $10. My nails easily last three to four weeks without lifting or chipping, which makes it a great value. I also appreciate that they have a rewards program. I do get a little confused by how it works since I visit regularly and still haven't received my discount, but it hasn't stopped me from coming back because the quality of their work is so good. Getting my nails done here is one of my favorite forms of self-care. It's something I genuinely look forward to, and I always leave happy with the results. The main reason I got to this location is because it's nearby and easy to get in last minute. I got dip and my daughter just got a simple polish. The whole time I was getting my nails done, I felt like an inconvenience. The nail tech said maybe 2 sentences to me... she was yelling across the room, I think telling other employees what to do? She spoke English, but just didn't seem interested in acknowledging me, which felt uncomfortable. Also, one of their employees had a shirt with the F word written out, which I felt was pretty inappropriate considering I brought my young daughter along with me. I got dip nails, and the tech was using tools that were not freshly sanitized. The nail file was used. The file tool had lots of white dust from past nails. I just felt like my experience was very unclean and unprofessional. For how much I paid today, I could certainly find a salon that would make me feel welcome, have a more relaxing environment and be clean. Unfortunately, this was not it.

To be clear, I did my due diligence. I called ahead and specifically asked if they could do a men's haircut, and I was assured they could. When I sat in the chair, the stylist Tanya immediately told me she couldnt do skin fades. I said, "Okay, perfect," because that's exactly what I didn't want. I explained that my usual style is a more grown-out, longer look. I even showed a clear inspiration photo to ensure we were on the same page. She then proceeded to completely ignore everything I said. Not only did she not follow the photo, but she cut my hair drastically shorter than I asked for. When I voiced my concern, saying it was already too short, she decided to take even more off, making the situation infinitely worse. I usually cut my own hair, and I consistently get a result ten times better than this. The one time I trust a professional with a major life event, my trust was completely misplaced. I am so angry and frustrated. My hair is completely butchered, and I now have to face a big career milestone feeling insecure and unhappy. It was our first time here and her 1st scalp massage. I called ahead to make reservations on a Tuesday after work and we were the only ones there. It was such a relaxing experience! They were kind and took great care of us. We did the Signature treatment. They start with a scalp assessment with their camera. My tech pointed out my scalp was inflamed, dry and sensitive. I could see it too! And the amount of build up... yikes! I suffer from scalp psoriasis unfortunately too. :( After they took us back to lay down for the scalp massage and treatment. They gave us towels/wraps and I came prepared with a tube top. There are manual leg massagers while receiving the scalp massage. My tech covered me up with a blanket and made sure I was warm and comfortable. I could not believe that was a 90 minute session. The time went by so fast because it was so relaxing! We both enjoyed the scalp massage and agreed we could go without the facial for our next visit. They blow dried our hair and used the LED brush combs after. Then my scalp was reassessed again with the camera and it was sooo clean! The inflammation and buildup was gone. My hair felt so soft. My sister in law loved the experience to celebrate her! The only con was the language barrier. Things weren't explained and our session had minimal conversations. I would have liked to get some pointers and advice on how to care for our scalps after. Luckily, this wasn't my 1st scalp treatment and I knew what to expect. I explained some things to my SIL. They offered us tea yet it was lukewarm. I prefer my tea a bit hotter but it's a kind gesture. We had a wonderful experience. If you haven't had a scalp massage, add it to your self care list!
