Went to try this place for early dinner. The place is empty when we arrived. We ordered fried pork ribs, Xiao long bao soup dumplings and salt fish fried rice. The food taste great, but nothing extra ordinary. This place is clean and well lighted. Take note, they only accept payment by cash, Venmo and Zelle. No credit cards accepted. Kinda weird for a restaurant.

Very good value for the amount of food given for the amount paid. Ordered the fish with mustard green noodles with broth and got a good helping of vegetable but taste wise it was okay to me (for noodle soup and soup dumplings)

You should seat yourself and/or seek out the waitress when coming in! It's a quaint little place and the waitress was very hardworking yet attentive. The beef and beef tendon noodle soup was a hit! Tender meat and good homemade noodles. The Hong Kong style dishes though - beef chow fun and Singapore rice noodles - should have been skipped. There didn't seem to be enough "wok hei" in the kitchen, as these noodle dishes came out extremely soggy and oil-flavored, rather than the usual smokiness that should come from stir frying in the wok. The beef chow fun had a decent amount of beef to be fair; however, the Singapore rice noodles only had four measly shrimp in the entire dish. Overall, we didn't like how extremely soggy and soaked in oil the noodles were. The dumplings were an ordeal, a lot of miscommunication. I requested the seafood dumplings without any spicy sauce, but when it first came they were pork dumplings covered in red oil, which the waitress insisted it's "not spicy" as I requested. Yes, but that wasn't my intention! Second try pork dumplings came out, and I asked why it wasn't seafood. Finally third time was the charm. Overall if you're used to this kind of service and if you stick to the more Shanghai based dishes, the experience should be fine. I would come back but not for the Hong Kong food we were craving haha.

Ordered takeout and would strongly recommend avoid coming here for many reasons. First off, beware that they are trying to upcharge you: the tax they charge is automatically set to 7% instead of 6.625%. When we asked to clarify, they said it was because "the software is from China" and they can only set to one decimal place. Basically trying to make excuses. You can still set it to either 6.6% or 6.7% at most. Second, food is not good, and is way worse in quality compared to before. 2 out of the 4 sesame pancakes we ordered were completely burnt black on one side, but they still served it - we didn't realize until opening the food at home. The sticky rice roll was arguably one of the worst ones we have every had and made even worse by the exorbitant price of more than $6. Basically just rice with minimal stuffing inside: just the "you tiao" (fried dough) and a few strings of cabbage. Third, terrible customer service: the lady we encountered had a bad attitude, when we tried to ask clarifying questions about the incorrect tax charge, or when we asked for another bag because one of the containers was leaking ("you know in NJ we have to charge for plastic bags, and we already gave you a free one?") Unfortunately, will not be coming back

Came here after trying to go to the NJ Food Court next door, FYI it got shut down for some reason Food: I got the Gua Bao (Taiwanese Hamburger) and Spicy Beef Noodles. The Gua Bao was fluffy and light, and the condiments complemented the meat perfectly. I was going to order the original Beef Noodles, but then decided to get the Spicy Beef Noodles on a whim. Let me just say that the Spicy part needs to be emphasized... because my nose started clearing up and becoming runny after eating this. (I usually have a decent spice tolerance, but I guess not today) So if you're not used to Spicier dishes, you might want to stick with the original. Either way, the meat and noodles will both taste great. Service/Environment: The restaurant itself was pretty standard looking, with a decent amount of seats for both large and small parties. Service was average when it came to friendliness/attentiveness. The waiter did mess up one of my friend's orders (He got the wrong meat in his rice dish), but he ended up enjoying the dish anyways. Price: The lunch specials are definitely the go-to if you want quantity and quality for a low price. For less than $10 per rice dish, you get a very generous serving of meat and veggies with rice to pair. (I will probably be getting this next time) Overall: Besides the service mishap, this is a very solid restaurant. If you are looking for cheap and authentic Chinese food, this place is should be on your list.

It was a bit confusing figuring out if this was the right place because a different name was on the door. No one was inside. Service was great. Food was meh. Got the spicy seafood noodle soup. Lots of seafood in it but not much flavor.

    Namron L.

For lunch, dined in with 4 dishes: -fresh garlic with shrimp & pork noodles-had bean sprouts on top, not much garlic, good flavor -smelly tofu: pungent smell, could not finish this dish, it was too dry & stinky, spicy sauce was provided but did not use -Taiwanese burger : big sized pork belly, pickled mustard greens on top added some crunch, very good, bun is not crispy, but soft -pork soup dumplings :  standard, good Was told that credit card was not being accepted after the bill came. Notification of cash only should have been mentioned upon entry to the restaurant. Gave 1 less star for this reason.

This place was pretty disappointing- both food and service. Sat down on a Sunday for lunch, pretty busy at the restaurant, but it took over 10 minutes before they took our order (not sure if understaffed or what). A lot of the plates/bowls were poorly clean, and the food was quite subpar. XLB dough texture was off, beef noodle soup was lacking in flavor. The Shanghai stir fry noodles had somewhat decent flavor, but that's about it. The rice dishes were priced pretty well, but I didn't get a chance to try any of them.

So the location looks a bit run down and the noodles we ordered were pretty bland. Happy I finally tried it so I no longer have to drive by and wonder if it's any good.

    Limi L.

The place has a variety of dishes to choose from and I was happy that they have duck noodle soup because it's my favorite. The noodle soup was ok. The noodles they used were a bit thicker than I expected. I also got the soup dumplings which were ok. The skin fell off so easily so I think it was over-steamed. The scallion pancakes were crispy which were also decent and some items I wanted were not available.

    Congee & shui mai
    Emily L.

Congee is very watery and shui mai is very bland. Again they asked me to pay venmo & zelle which i did not appreciate. Please save your money and get better food somewhere else. They can't even make simple food good.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I've moved from the area and don't get there much any more. If you're looking for Chinese food that is a little different, check it out. Lots of dry noodle (like stir-fried) and soup dishes. Quite a variety of dumplings as well. Good portions and pretty reasonable prices. I alway over-order. Pretty quick service as well, dishes seem to come out as they're ready. I like that, at least as far as I can tell, there is a homemade noodle option.

The service is very friendly and patient (and American friendly). The food comes out lightning fast. Everything is very reasonably priced. Best of all, it's all delicious. I tried stuff outside of my comfort zone and I loved it all. My favorite were the pork juicy buns (soup dumplings) but the most unique thing was the pan fried noodle which was like a crispy deep fried noodle that would soften as it sat in the sauce. The golden lava buns were sweet and rich and perfect for dessert.

We were second standing outdoors waiting in this big fat long line. Immediately upon opening for the day the line nearly forced entry near stampede and this cafe was immediately packed to full occupancy of patrons with free seating. The Yelp reviews are accurate and truthful. The food is great. This is a small cafe with only approximately eight tables. I do not recommend large parties of five and greater. It is no-frills, but not exactly "hole in the wall" type that lack in aesthetics for upscale lavish atmosphere but the deficiency is resolved in the food quality. There is one sole functioning restroom in the whole business, ergo, stand in line and wait. We entered hungry in a lugubrious sense of deep sorrow, but exited hunger pangs fulfilled. When exiting upon completion of our lunch meal, there was a line that quickly formed outdoors waiting. Unfortunately, access to this cafe in Edison, NJ is by car only and there is a free parking lot that is shared with neighboring businesses located in a small shopping complex. There are no business cards, and no takeout menus available. Customer service is efficient as the staff worked methodically hustling busy to take orders and fulfillment. Our male waiter was attentive to respond to our inquiries and make suggestions based on our desires. I was able to keep the sales receipt. Price is in the rationale realm of stagflation totaling $41.75. Nota Bene: No table hibernation as the table turnover is fast pace with a line overflowing outdoors which cannot interrupt the flow. My foodie synopsis: Pork steam soup dumplings, 6 pcs, siu2 lung4 baau1, 小籠包, $8.75 Very juicy, flavorful and great. It was served piping hot. This is my favorite default dish for every visit at any Shanghainese ethnic cuisine. However, there were no serving tongs provided for this particular appetizer which is industry standard. Preserved cabbage with pork noodle soup, syut3 coi3 juk6 si1 min6, 雪菜肉絲麵 $9.50 This is a satisfying Chinese comfort food. This noodle soup was abundant with noodles, pork and chopped vegetables. It provided warmth to my very broken heart. Shanghai chicken in wine sauce, zeoi3 gai1, 醉雞, $8.95 A traditional Chinese cold appetizer, aka Chinese Drunken chicken made with Chinese Shaoxing cooking wine. It has amazing flavor and texture to be deliciously enticing. Of course, the cooking wine brings flavor to this appetizer making you want more. Shanghai pan fried U-Don noodle, soeng6 hoi2 cou1 caau2 min6, 上海粗炒面, $11.95 Abundant noodles with good consistency and it not heavily filled with grease and oil.

We got the pork sticky rice shumai, pork in garlic sauce over rice, sautéed string beans and pepper corn chicken. Shumai was ok. The pork in garlic sauce had way too much sauce and was a tad sweet for our liking; it was drowning in sauce. The strings and pepper corn chicken were very good. Both had a slight touch of heat. I wish we ordered differently but overall the food was ok. Our server was very nice and attentive. We're debating coming back to try more of the menu but with so many Asian/Chinese restaurants to try in Edison, I think we'd try someplace else.

Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Spicy beef noodles with hand pulled noodles in a beef and pork broth, along with steamed pork soup dumplings that had been spoken of with reverence online. The dumplings were cold. Not warm, not cooling. Cold, like they had been waiting longer than I had. They had fused together into a single tragic mass. When I tried to separate them, the dough tore open and the soup filling spilled out into the container, abandoning its purpose. How this happened during a ten minute walk is a mystery. The more likely answer is that it did not. The noodles were at least hot. The flavor was fine. Not offensive, not memorable, just present. You eat it, and it disappears from your mind almost immediately. This is a place people seem to love, which makes the experience feel like a clerical error in the matrix. Perhaps it was an off night. Predictably, because we were packed like sardines, a glass was knocked over during appetizers. That is when the dining experience shifted from uncomfortable to utterly pathetic. As the drink flooded the table and pooled into a food plate, the servers literally just kept dropping new food into the mess. When we begged for it to be cleaned, a waitress dumped a handful of tissues on the table and walked away. When we asked her to use a tray to clear the wet items, she claimed she "didn't have a tray"--meanwhile, every other server in the room was walking past us carrying trays. Despite multiple pleas, the table was never properly wiped. We had to flag down other servers for napkins and physically move our own dirty dishes to a neighboring empty table ourselves. Thinking it couldn't get worse, we asked for the manager, "Ashley". It turns out the toxic attitude starts at the top. Ashley arrived with zero empathy. When the waitress boldly lied to our faces and denied her comments about the tray, Ashley didn't care. She disappeared for five minutes, returned solely to defend her incompetent staff, and when we asked if she was even willing to listen to our side, she literally walked away from us. To give a restaurant your hard-earned money only to be treated like an inconvenience is infuriating. Ashley and her staff lack the basic fundamentals of hospitality, cleanliness, and human decency. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually values its customers.
