This Is our go to place for Chinese in north Edison Metuchen area. Classic Chinese. No frills. Fair price. We are vegetarians and always order gen Tsao's tofu, flat rice noodles (chow ho fun) and broccoli with black bean sauce. Ordered from here for the first this evening and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Ordered the chicken and broccoli, pork fried rice and an egg roll. Only the pork fried rice was edible. The chicken was rubbery and the egg roll was solid grease and the only thing you tasted was the grease. Next time I order Chinese food, I'll get it from Pink Lotus on Main Street in Metuchen and I suggest you do the same. read more

Mia's Garden has been our go to spot for Chinese food for years now. Our family is a huge fan of broccoli and garlic sauce and we haven't found another garlic sauce quite like it. My dad also likes their mixed vegetables + tofu with garlic sauce. We usually order the lunch portion during lunch. It seems like their lunch portions have changed. Before they use to give a small container of broccoli and a side of rice. Now when we get the lunch portion the rice and the vegetables were in the same small container (which previously contained only broccoli). 2/3 of the container was rice with only 1/3 of it being vegetables. There also was barely any garlic sauce the last time we got it. Luckily my husband always orders a side of garlic sauce so we were all able to share that. My dad ended up not feeling well after eating his order of mixed vegetable and tofu. Since this is the only time that's happened, I think it was a fluke. I really hope they bring back their regular lunch portions back since we ended up with so much leftover rice. read more

I really wish Yelp would let reviewers give half stars, because this is one of those times where I would give this place 3.5 stars. I decided to round down because of their service. We haven't been in the restaurant itself. We only ordered take out. First, let's talk about the service. Our order is pretty simple, a quart of wonton soap, chicken and broccoli and chicken and eggplant in spicy sauce. We googled this location and found out we were only 9 minutes away, so it should be pretty quick right? Plus, their website promised us that delivery would take around 25-30 minutes. And we managed our expectations based on that. However, the order didn't come until an hour and 5 minutes after our order time. The delivery guy couldn't find our apartment number either. I'll cut him some slack for that one because the building is confusing. He at least found the correct building. In terms of the food, it was delicious and plentiful. They gave us two small take-out boxes of rice with our order. My boyfriend managed to finish his dish and I think I finished about 1/3 of mine (weak I know). We managed to kill the rest for lunch the next day. The chicken and broccoli was really good, broccoli was nice a fresh. They only use white meat chicken, seeing as both of our dishes came with it and they didn't specify that as an option when we ordered online. The chicken and eggplant was good as well. The eggplant to chicken ratio is way off, maybe like 3:1. If you like eggplant, then definitely get it. The spicy sauce has a kick to it as well. Overall, I like this place. We will probably go there next time instead of getting delivery. Or we'll order an hour ahead of time instead. Either way, it's worth a try. I work pretty close to Mia's garden and find myself getting lunch here at least once a week. This is definitely one of my favorite take out places in the area, they are friendly and the food is pretty good, although some items are much better than others. The best part about this place is that it is clean, something I definitely can't say about a lot of chinese take out places. There's like 6 or so tables inside so you can actually sit down and eat, and it's pretty cheap. A lunch combo platter and a can of soda is about $6. Worth a trip if you want basic chinese take out that wont either gross you out or get you all rumbly for the rest of the day. read more

This place does a solid job. I'm usually not that adventurous, I've had garlic chicken, chicken and broccoli, wonton soup, and lo mein. It's never dry and packs good flavor. They aren't stingy either. I can can have enough leftover for lunch. It's the little things they fall short on. The price is a bit high and don't offer those awesome combo meals you usually see. This is seeon the worst food I've ever had.ordered the dumplings which completely turned my stomach and the bourben chiken had no sauce on it. When I called the lady insisted that she put a lot of sauce on it and it might be at the bottom but no sauce. I guess it must have evaporated in the ten minute ride home. Their delivery is fast and their Mongolian beef is the bomb. Other than that, this place is a regular Chinese take out place but it's clean and their food tastes fresh. One issue I have with this place is that their meat to vegetable ratio in some of their dishes sucks. My son ordered beef and broccoli and it was mainly all brocolli with only a couple pieces of chewy beef. I also had this issue with their chicken and cashews with it mainly consisting of celery. My original review was very positive but I have seen a change unfortunately, there has been a price increase which wouldn't be a big deal but they have decreased the portions so that doesn't seem right. Also we did not get the pineapple slices this time and have discovered the fried rice is terrible to the extent we had to discard the entire pint. What we did enjoy was the lo mein, egg rolls, and dim sum. Not the best, but not the worst. These guys can be hit or miss depending what you order. The scallion pancakes are small and oily, but at least they have them. I'm not a fan of their steamed dumplings, and their dipping sauce for them is just a very salty soy sauce. The general tsao is also not very good. This is the best Chinese place in the area! I've ordered from the countless times and they've always been on time and complete. Anytime someone visits my house they always ask if we can order the "good Chinese food". The soup is the best, the boneless ribs are great and pretty much everything else is wonderful too! At any other place I would stick with chicken and broccoli but here I venture out and try tons of new things.
