Posing with Bahama Llama in front of the castle!

We had such a great time visiting ShangriLlama. I highly recommend the Llama Walk for anyone who is looking for a fun and unique experience. I learned so much about llamas, thanks to Jenni's informative presentation and by actually being with the llamas themselves. All the llamas are so awesome, and it's obvious they are much loved! And I appreciate Mama Llama and Papa Llama allowing us to meet and spend time with these wonderful creatures!

What a fantastic experience. We attended the one-hour llama presentation. It was inside a climate-controlled barn/garage room that was very clean and comfortable. The presentation was extremely well-done by a very professional staff of handlers. We learned so many interesting things about llamas and it was very engaging even though I wasn't particularly interested in llamas prior to the visit. The llamas are all very gentle it was a lot of fun to mingle with them, pet them, and observe their behavior up close in person. You have some time to just take photos, ask questions, and just hang out with llamas! They also have a Llama Walk where you can accompany the pack on a decent-distance walk outdoors but we did not do that this trip. Give it a try if you are at all curious.

This is such a great place! My family and I went on a llama walk during Spring break and it was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. Each llama had its own distinct personality but they were all hilarious and sweet. The tour guides did a great job and we learned so much. The grounds are lovely and they keep the groups relatively small which makes this an even better experience. Your family will have a great time!!! We all left with smiles on our faces.

Really enjoyed the experience! Took my granddaughter and she loved it. A great summer activity when it is hot. The barn is air conditioned and there is no smell. We did the class and will go in the fall to do the walk. The staff are amazing. Let my granddaughter cool off the llamas with a hose. She loved every minute of it.

    Ask the Community - ShangriLlama

Are the only options to do the presentation or walk the llamas?

Thanks for your interest in visiting ShangriLlama! We offer two activities: Llama Walks from November through April, and Llama Llessons from May through September. We hope to meet you at one of these activities!

One review said four and up, but Mama Llama told me on the phone this is only for ages EIGHT and up.?

I would absolutely go with the Age 8 guideline provided by Mama Llama...my reference to Age 4 was purely to emphasize that the activity can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.

We got there around 10am on Sunday, $15 entry fee and $20 for a tin of food to feed the animals - super reasonable! Sunshine, the white alpaca would walk right up and eat from the tin. We got a tour of all the animals and the farm. Sat with the guinea pigs and rabbits and fed them carrots. This experience was unforgettable from start to finish in their 165 acre property. We kicked off the day with a short ride on Jafar, a stunning, gentle giant weighing nearly 3,000 pounds. ( love at first sight) After taking some amazing photos with him, he happily stayed nearby and spent the rest of the day with us. From there, we met several other camels and hopped on the tram, where more adventures were to be had . Along the way, we encountered so many incredible animals, more camels, a zedonk, llamas, alpacas, and miniature horses. One of the highlights was feeding Thorn, their adorable pet porcupine, grapes she was just the sweetest little girl. We also got to see New Guinea singing dogs (so cute!) and Ambien, their 20-year-old sloth, who was just as amazing to see in person as you'd imagine. Feeding the alpacas and llamas carrots was such a fun, hands-on experience. As if that wasn't enough, four friendly Ridgeback dogs casually joined us on the tram, roaming freely and adding even more charm to the day. Every animal we encountered was gentle, well cared for and clearly loved . I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this experience it was pure joy from beginning to end. If you've never met a camel, Ilama, or alpaca, you're missing out. These gentle creatures will absolutely fill your heart. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon. I didn't want the day to end . This is one adventure you don't want to miss it's truly an overload of joy! "LIVE LIFE WITH LOVE & LAUGHTER" ~PEACE JODY~

We were amazed by how up close and personal we could get with the camels and the other animals. The safari tram tour was informative and much more engaging than anticipated as well. We had plenty of opportunities to see the animals in a natural, spacious environment. The friendly staff were also incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. They shared interesting facts about the area and the animals throughout the tour that made the experience both fun and educational. This was far better than your average zoo... it felt much more interactive and authentic. One of the biggest highlights is the location itself. It truly feels like a backcountry adventure, and it's hard to believe you're such a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip. We also did the UTV tour, which took us down to the Virgin River and deeper into the surrounding desert landscape. The scenery was stunning, and I couldn't believe we had just been in the middle of Vegas. What a great experience!

The drive from Vegas is an hour long straight shot up the I-15, once you do get into Moapa drive slow and carefully. There are a lot of speed traps waiting for visitors and the last portion of the drive here is windy and unpaved. Definitely not the most visitor friendly drive. There are lots of activities to do here and they offer several wristband packages to bundle experiences. We opted for the white wristbands ($34/pp) which include all general admission activities, the haunted maze, the haunted hayride and 2 turns at the corn shot. The maze had about a 30-45 minute wait when we got there and the wait got longer from there, but in my opinion it was worth it. We had some good screams and laughs and got through the maze pretty quickly. The haunted hayride honestly was a dud, but it was nice to sit down for a while after standing so long for the maze. They could honestly just stick to a regular fall themed hayride. They also had a bunch of other activities that were included in general admission ($12) like swings, pig races, a small petting zoo, and more. There was plenty to do, but in the future I would probably save a little bit of money and only opt into the maze. I was a bit disappointed in the food selection here. They catered very heavily towards fall fair like desserts, but didn't offer much in terms of actual food. We still did order the fried apple slices and a deep fried cheesecake, along with a couple of hotdogs. I was sorely disappointed by the apples slices because there just tasted like fried dough, the apple almost disintegrated and disappeared after the frying process. The cheesecake was good but incredibly decadent and is best shared between two people. The hotdogs were run of the mill, thin and unimpressive. I added cheese to mine and the bun was so thin it fell apart immediately. For the price per dog, I would have expected Hebrew Nationals. The pumpkin patch was a bit of a long walk away from everything else and by about 10pm we couldn't find too many good pumpkins. We opted to pick some corn instead and I have to give it to them, that corn was sooooo sweet and delicious once cooked. It was definitely a fun night, but with HalloweenTown in Boca Park available in the future I'll probably save gas and stay in town.

Be mindful of the 'this animal bites' warning signs on specific pens. The goats that are 'acceptable to feed' had good manners. I'll keep an eye out for special events here during cooler seasons. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and I appreciate the work they are doing to help animals in need.
