The inside looks like a clean mom and pop restaurant you'll find in rural America. This one appears to be better maintained then most, but still gave that dated, rural Americana feel... which is warm and welcoming. The food is what you expect at places like this. It's warm, comfort food that isn't offensive to the pallet and priced to keep you coming back. I had an opened faced beef sandwich special they were offering. Which was to my liking. It wasn't anything special, but it was good and hit the spot. My girlfriend had their fried chicken. She liked it, but again it was nothing special. They did have a good selection of pies, unfortunately we were both full and didn't dare try any, but they did look good. Overall I'd say if you're in the area and hungry, you won't be disappointed. Just don't expect anything too fancy.

Rick ordered the fried chicken - which understandably takes extra time as it's cooked when you order - not sitting under a heat lamp getting soggy. The chicken was a little dry and the breading was bland. Meal was accompanied with canned green beans, mashed potatoes that may or may not have been instant, and gravy that was packaged. I had the mushroom Swiss burger. I really should remember to ask about the mushrooms before I order one. These mushrooms were canned- which can be fine if they are sautéed or warmed in a mushroom sauce. These 'shrooms were not. And - while I should have expected it - the "Swiss" cheese was a slice of Kraft processed Swiss cheese. This from a place that is 23 miles from Monroe, Wisconsin - the Swiss Cheese capital of the world! Note to my friends who are OCD - do not sit in the first set of booths when you come in. These booths were all moved forward a few inches during a remodel - but the booth numbers on the wall and the lights above the table - which used to be centered - are now skewed to one side of the table. While Landmark was an acceptable lunch spot - we will not be adding it to our rotation of places to stop on our way to Iowa.

I let it go as about a month before my wedding, I had bigger fish to fry. Day of my wedding the food tasted great, he told me at the end "they cleared me out! There are no leftovers. I usually make a quarter pound of meat per person but I made half a pound for yours." That was it, I was excited and told him I would send a tip to him post-wedding. Fast forward to the day after my wedding and was informed by family that the last two tables of my wedding got absolutely no meat and just beans and coleslaw left. Mind you we had 3 meats and 5 sides, buffet style. One of my cousins asked the owner where more food was as he began stating that men were piling food high. To which she pointed out there were no serving restrictions or servers serving to stop this from occurring. I was embarrassed and tried emailing to the owner to rectify the situation as 20 people of the 160 who showed didn't get fed. And I paid for 180. The owner has not responded at all. It has been over 2 months since my wedding. Definitely would not cater through them again.
