At first, I was disappointed they didn't have Chicago Italian beef. So I asked what they would recommend, and the very polite lady behind the counter said, "You should try my meatball sub." I laughed and told her, "I don't know... my late grandma (100% Italian) made the best meatballs ever, but alright, let's do it." Then she asked, "Do you want peppers?" and of course my reply was, "Heck yeah!" She chuckled. When the sub came out, I have to say, it was huge. I sat down, took one quick smell and a bite... BOOM. I was instantly transported back to my grandma's kitchen, eating Saturday pasta and meatballs. I highly recommend checking this little gem out. The service, the atmosphere, and especially the food were all amazing. I definitely was not disappointed. P.S. Don't skip the desserts -- once again, absolutely amazing. I think pricing was fair ($12.95 for the sandwich only, plus tax & tip) considering the size of the sandwich; it was enough for two people, quite frankly.

Literally the best place to eat in Lombard. The homemade sandwiches, soups, etc are amazing. They have new specials everyday and this causes us to eat here more than my fiance and I should :) My favorite thing to get is their soups. Seriously, the best soups i've ever had. They also have deli meat and things to take home, so making lunches/dinner are easy! Also, make sure you splurge and get some dessert. Totally worth it. The workers are also what make Shannon's Deli so special. They know your name and are always incredibly friendly. Since we love Theresa so much, she is doing out rehearsal dinner in October. Seriously, love this place! On my first trip I wasn't sure what it would be, since it's tucked away in the corner of a street. But I was really impressed! I've been back 3 other times since then. The food is always freshly made and extremely tasty. I've had a couple of the sandwiches, the chili, soups, and some of the deli items (pasta salad, etc.). Everything we've had so far has been great! The prices are very reasonable for the portion size, and the service is outstanding. Every time we are there we are greeted with a smile, no matter how busy it is! I've been living in Lombard from past four months. But this was my first time in Shannon's Deli. The area was neat and clean and they made me feel welcome. The food I ordered was a potato salad and turkey sandwich. I think this was the best I have ever had after a long time. For the service I would say they need little improvement, but they absolutely deserve five stars for the food quality. Good and affordable place for a family lunch.
