So I was on an architectural survey and wanted something good and local. Since I'm from Columbus, where the food can be pretty meh, I figured I'd give this place a shot because the reviews were great. At first, I was disappointed they didn't have Chicago Italian beef. So I asked what they would recommend, and the very polite lady behind the counter said, "You should try my meatball sub." I laughed and told her, "I don't know... my late grandma (100% Italian) made the best meatballs ever, but alright, let's do it." Then she asked, "Do you want peppers?" and of course my reply was, "Heck yeah!" She chuckled. When the sub came out, I have to say, it was huge. I sat down, took one quick smell and a bite... BOOM. I was instantly transported back to my grandma's kitchen, eating Saturday pasta and meatballs. I highly recommend checking this little gem out. The service, the atmosphere, and especially the food were all amazing. I definitely was not disappointed. P.S. Don't skip the desserts -- once again, absolutely amazing. After passing this place many times, decided to stop in. Ordered 2 sandwiches, Fat Joe and the meatball. The Fat Joe had fresh ingredients but was void of EVOO or any type of dressing. They must of missed it. It was somewhat dry, but still pretty good. Could have been better with the EVOO. The meatball sandwich was good. Everything was fresh, place is clean which is important to me. Service was.....unremarkable. At 3.5 but bumping it to a 4 due to cleanliness. read more

If I could give zero stars I would but unfortunately you have to give something in order to post a review. Very disappointing experience. First, we were turned away from their lounge bar because they were supposedly having a private party, even though the sign clearly said open. No explanation or apology was offered. Later, at the food counter, I watched the owner handle cash with gloves on and then immediately make my sandwich without washing his hands or changing gloves. That is a serious food safety concern. When I was clearly uncomfortable, the attitude was rude instead of professional. Between the misleading "open" signage, poor cleanliness, and rude behavior, I won't be returning. read more

I ordered Mama's Meatball Sub with a side of their creamy mac n'cheese with a soda on the side and let me tell ya, this hit the spot!!! The Sub was great, the sauce was thick, sweet, full of flavor. The meatballs seasoned thoroughly and cooked to perfection. The bread was fresh We're talkin about a superior meatball Sub here, not that trash you find at Subway. Mac N'cheese was on point. You can tell by the quality and taste that Mortadeli uses premium cheeses and ingredients in the preparation of their food. It's definitely worth revisiting if you enjoy good food. This place was good. I got there before they opened so I ended up having someone else go back. I got an Italian, which I split with my bud and it was good. The balsamic glaze was a different touch. Since I didn't go back to get the food, I'm not certain how the service was or the pricing. But I'm sure it was fine. From the looks of the place on the outside it looks small. Had the veggie sandwich and my wife had the turkey sandwich. Both were very tasty. I thought the veggie had premium ingredients- a good pesto and a really good tomato focaccia. The mozzarella was fresh. I was short on time and was worried how quick it would be. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The prices weren't too bad for what you get. The sub sized sandwiches are big. The veggie was a good size but I would've liked even more. We will be back for sure. There is space to sit and eat in the restaurant and outside. Friendly owner and delicious sandwiches. This is our new go-to sandwich shop as its a quick walk from our house and the service is fast and consistent. I like the carb-dashian, its a turkey sandwich with giardiniera and smashed potato chips amongst the usual sandwich toppings. My husband usually goes for the mario sandwich which has the more traditional Italian deli meats. They also have pizza and tiramisu and some other desserts which I haven't tried due to a dairy allergy , but I like their sandwiches for quick lunch.
