This review is only about how useless she was for us. I own a teeny tiny now 6 month old maltese. He is a good dog for the most part, but about 2 months ago he was a pretty bad leash walker. Regular puppy stuff, 4 mo old puppies usually don't know how to walk on a leash if they've never done it before. He was more like a deflated balloon as soon as we put the leash on him. So I called Angie after reading all these reviews. Enough to say her training methods are not for us. I am all about hippie dippie positive reinforcement, and she's not. She told me about some methods she's had to use with more reactive dogs, which I guess one might need to but I am not comfortable trusting her to walk my dogs. During our consultation when Gustave wouldn't walk by her side, she stomped her foot really hard in front of him and he got really scared. I had never seen him scared like that before this. And guess what? That only made him more crazy, instead of making him walk properly. I still let it continue because she sounded like she knew what she was doing and actually gave her a check for 5 lessons. When we got back from the consultation, Gustave was a different dog, and not in a good way. He was running around aimlessly, being aggressive with us, jumping around, just the opposite effect of what a training lesson should be. So I called it off and ended up paying just $200 for the initial consultation. The only thing I got out of those $200 was knowledge of what kind of trainer I don't want for my dog. Btw, I waited 2 months to write this review because now Gustave walks perfectly on a leash, without any forceful training methods (and this was after we took a 2 week break in between after his neuter). This makes me feel confident to say if your dog is not an overly reactive dog and you're just looking for a trainer to correct minor issues, this dog trainer might not be the one for you.

From the first moment my cat met Kristine, my cat liked and felt comfortable with her. My cat is…read morenot naturally affectionate towards strangers (some people she meets and instantly dislikes) so this, for me, was a very good sign. Kristine is the first cat sitter I've used in LA, but when I lived elsewhere, we had cat sitters who did not seem to bond with my cat. In fact, the reports I got back when I returned from my trip were always along the lines of, "Your cat seems fine, but I never saw her during any of my visits!" Not only does my cat like Kristine, but she enjoys playing with her, too. And I really appreciated the photos Kristine emailed me every night. They showed that my cat was doing well, was cared for, and was being loved in my absence. And as a cat parent, that makes all the difference to me. I used to get so worried when I never heard anything from my previous cat sitters. Was my cat actually being cared for or had she been forgotten? With Kristine, I never had to wonder. I could enjoy my trip and my cat could enjoy fresh food and water (and a clean litterbox) in the comfort of our home. Oh, and Kristine watered my plants for me, too. It was so nice to come home to a happy cat and happy plants!

I love dogs and spend a lot of time thinking about how they can be better understood, loved, and cared for. For that reason, I tend to avoid kennels. Doggie Daycare is not only important, but it's necessary: dogs need to socialize often. End of that story. But leaving a dog in a kennel for days on end can be very stressful to them, particularly if you cannot afford to put them in a private space each night they are there. Their nerves get frazzled. Ideally, we'd have a safe and trusting place to take our dogs, like a friend's house. Or, we'd have someone we trust to come to our place and stay with our pets. I found that person in Kristine. From the moment she comes in the door, she lets my dog know that she's there for him. You can tell that she treats the dogs in her care as her own. Usually I come home and my dog looks a bit upset that I left for a whole weekend or week. This last trip, I came home and he seemed a bit sad that I wasn't Kristine coming through the door. I had to laugh. It was cute. But more importantly, it was very clear to me that I made a great choice in trusting Kristine. She is responsible. She has a car in case of emergencies or to take your dog for a walk or to a dog park. She has a warm personality and she is smart and attentive. I can't say enough about her. She is great. I will add that I interviewed a dozen or so kennels and dog sitters in West LA. If you want to save time, trust me on this. Or do what I did and spend weeks and weeks trying to find the right choice and then end up going with Kristine anyway.
