When it was finally my turn, the owner quickly directed me to the other woman doing brows instead of taking me herself. I'm assuming she realized how that looked after having me sit there while she took someone who arrived later. Another concern I had was that the scissors were not cleaned between clients. Also, the woman doing my brows applied rose water to my face without asking first. I have sensitive skin and always decline having products applied to my face, so this caught me off guard and made me uncomfortable. My previous brow artist always asked before putting anything on my skin. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the experience. Being dismissive of customers and disrespectful of their time, especially as the owner, is not something I would expect. It's a shame because I was genuinely excited to try this place, but I won't be returning or recommending this place ever.

The younger employee who was helping me was kind, but while I was trying to explain what I wanted, an older woman repeatedly talked over me so the younger employee couldn't even hear me. It came across as incredibly rude and unprofessional. I don't know why some people think it's acceptable to speak over their employees like that, especially in front of customers. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere from the very beginning. After I had to move my car, I came back and asked if I could use the restroom before my appointment. I was told they don't have a restroom for customers, so I said I would cancel the tint and just do the threading because I needed to leave sooner. Only after I said I wanted to cancel the tint did they suddenly tell me I could use the neighboring business's restroom if I told them I came from their salon. At that point it was the principle of the matter. If you're unwilling to accommodate customers until they're about to cancel a service, it doesn't leave a great impression. Even after I explained I wanted to cancel the tint, I was repeatedly asked if I wanted to keep it anyway. I finally had to say I was ready to check out because I was becoming uncomfortable. The threading itself was okay overall, although the left eyebrow was noticeably more painful than the right. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that the older woman stood there watching the younger employee perform the entire service. Instead of allowing the technician to work independently, she hovered over her the whole time, making it feel like I was sitting in the middle of a training evaluation rather than enjoying a relaxing appointment. Getting your eyebrows done should be a pleasant experience. Instead, the atmosphere felt tense, uncomfortable, and unnecessarily stressful. She also had the audacity to ask me out of nowhere if I had cash or only a card for no benefit to myself. Only a card you're welcome for the payment. I have cash but not for you. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. One other thing that stood out: I arrived around 4:30 PM, and the business advertises that it's open until 7:30 PM. When I first came in, I also asked about getting a brow lamination, but I was told I had to make an appointment in advance. That's perfectly fine if that's their policy. However, when I left, there were no customers in the salon and both technicians were available. One of them even asked if I wanted to schedule a lamination appointment, but by that point I declined. I came in ready to pay for threading, a tint, and a brow lamination, but because of the overall experience, I ended up getting only the threading. That's a completely preventable loss of business and an unfortunate example of customer service driving away a paying customer. UPDATE: To the terrible manager Raman who responded below. I see why the service is the way it is. What part of talking over a customer don't you understand? Is it reading minds or talking over customers the only two options to you and your unprofessionalism? Yes, I was told there was free parking in the back. I moved my car to the back and there was no open parking in your spots and I told you all that, you twit. So what's your point aside from showing your aggressive temper with baseless retaliatory points as a "manager?" And who said I felt pain in my upper lip? You need to take a breather lol. I've been going to this place for the last two years. I was shopping in the mall and decided to stop by to get my eyebrows done., my lady who I usually go to was off and there was a long waiting list, so they offered me to go upstairs there's no waiting there. I go upstairs the lady asked me to sit down. Just as soon as i sat, I informed the lady., "please be sure not to touch the shape of my eyebrows., I'm here just for cleaning". Just as she started the threading on my right side, right-away i asked for a mirror., because i felt she pulled the areas i did not want to be touch., I looked in the mirror, i was right, she ruined the shape of my eyebrow., so when i confronted her., she started yelling at me by pulling out the threads she had rolled over her neck and telling with her rude Armenian Persian accents., I've been doing this for the past 28 years., you're going to tell me how I should do my job? Why don't you go to that other person the foreigner to do your eyebrows., at this point i was just speechless., didn't know what I should do., i was hopping for a apology or something., but she was so rude which made me more mad., i said, instead-of me getting upset and yelling at you, because you screwed up my eyebrow, you're the one yelling at me? Are you serious? I got up and left., went downstairs and complained to the ladies about her. I will definitely call the manager and complain., this is not the right way to treat a customer. Never have I received such poor service in my life. This location has hired the rudest women. I used to go because it was close to work, but I'd rather make a 30 minute drive than see their faces again. Their work is average, but their attitudes are beyond poor. This location will soon lose all of their customers because of their employees, so management needs to clean up the staff and replace them as soon as possible. Also, talking shit about every customer in Armenian is pretty rude. I'm tired of listening to the crap that comes out of their mouths. Not classy. The owner really needs to fix this issue because you already lost plenty of customers due to your staff, you can't afford to lose more. read more

I have changed many eyebrow ladies but for the past two years i have been going to shapes and i absolutely LOVE IT! i tried 3 different ladies there but i stuck with the last one, Jenig/ Janet! she is just too good in her job! my eyebrows are very difficult to handle. They start of thick and the ending is very thin hair almost never grew so that i can have a nice arch! Janet made it grow in a month! i am very happy with shapes and the service she provides for me! great low prices and awesome ladies..more than half my family friends ended up listening to me and being satisfied as well! try it out guys! read more

KIOSK --- You write your name on the list -- the lady approaches you and instead of greeting you says come back in 20 minutes. Stares at you until you walk away and smiles ... Okay !!! I decided to wait so I don't lose my turn .. It's Saturday a lot of people it's ok - however the ladies working there have more time answering their personal cell phones and talking to each other in Armenian than greeting customers. They need customer service training . I use to like S.H.A.P.E.S but will try another location from now on. read more

Rudest piece of garbage is the one running the register. Worst attitude!!! Crow/scarecrow looking thing with the biggest beak I've ever seen for a nose! Wow! The whole time she made me feel like they're gods gift to the Sherman Oaks mall and shapes is the only place in the mall that does eyebrows. The most disgusting staff I've ever had to deal with. I feel there are complaints about the customer service, but that happens with every company. The work you get done is worth trying if you're skeptical! The threaders make it painless and the take their time and make sure they are symmetrical by measuring them with the thread. :) I haven't had any problems with my membership & actually get awesome deals with it! read more

Please avoid them at all costs they may look clean and professional on social media/ their space but I doubt their knowledge and training after my experience. I'm in the process of contacting the state board so they investigate their products, licensing and response to emergencies. I have been getting lash extensions for ten years and have never had any issues or reactions to any products in multiple other locations. I went with them because of the positive reviews and lack of availability from my usual artist when I had an important trip this past weekend. A trip that had to be canceled because my eye was still irritated and in pain three days after the service. The lash appointment experience started badly when I was made to wait about 15 minutes past my 1:30pm appointment although they have a strict time penalty if you arrive late yourself. The service was going well until close to the end I started feeling like there was something in my eye. Initially I thought it might be a lash so I waited until she told me to open my eye to try to communicate my discomfort. Everyone there seems to speak pretty limited English so communication was a challenge in itself. I told her I was having a hard time opening my eye because I felt something stuck and burning my eye. She said it was normal offered a fan and some eyedrops. After five minutes of no improvement she checked my eye said she saw nothing and then kicked me out of the room because she had another client. I was moved to seat in the reception area where someone else saw my eye and gave me more eyedrops and a little sponge wand to clean my eye. After some time someone else came to move me to their room to check my eye after prodding around a while she said there was nothing in my eye but maybe I should go to an ophthalmologist to have them flush my eye out. I had to ask to be taken to the bathroom to try to put some water in my eye but it was still burning and irritated. I couldn't keep my eyes open so I didn't feel like I could walk out and definitely not drive. I sat back in their lobby and had to beg them to give me some ice, they came back with a tiny chip of ice and left me alone. My original lash artist eventually came back out and rubbed some gel on my eye then left. No more help, apologies or accommodations were being offered hours later to me. So around 6 pm I was in such pain, distress, and felt weak from no food for hours that I had to make an attempt to gather myself privately since it was clear they would do nothing helpful for me. I got up and asked about paying they had the audacity to charge me $170 for their horrible service. The lashes were not even full enough to be considered hybrid, throughout it all I had tried to remain pleasant with them because I needed their help. I was scared of complaining about anything in such a vulnerable position. I was in no state to talk with them anymore I just wanted to leave so bad, so I paid and struggled back to my car. I spent another hour in my car trying to rest to feel better because I still couldn't fully open my eye long enough. Around 8pm I tried driving off but had to pull over quickly on the next parking lot because I just couldn't keep my eyes open due to the discomfort. I did not end up being able to drive until 9pm and immediately went to a pharmacy for saline solution to wash out my eye. I had to spend the night in the emergency room, cancelled my trip and treat my eye for the next couple of days. It's so alarming to think they could be using some horrible glue or products and can cause serious damage to people. They might not even be licensed if they don't know how to respond to emergencies by washing out my eye with saline immediately after irritation, it could have helped me so much! I'm so traumatized by this experience that I'm not sure I want lash extensions ever again but if I do I will be sure to stick with my trusted artist and never come here again!!

In an area where we are in, when looking for a place out here, I am a little surprised how difficult it is to find a place that does it (if at all) or its an add-on in some places. I came across Zey and how they had multiple services I may potentially want to consider, and made an appointment online which was fairly quick. They sent multiple emails to remind of the appointment, to be on time, and warning on a fee if you dont show, but mentioned nothing on how to check in. I had a morning appt and the shared parking lot out back looked packed already due to the pilates studio next door. I waited out front few minutes before and the store front and after because the door was locked. I understand being alone in a work situation similar to that in the past so was hoping someone to come out or call me at the number I provided to confirm I was waiting for an appointment. About 10 minutes after, a woman (**EDIT searched for their business in my email to find the persons name thanks to the owner's reply below and blaming/avoidance below to why they don't acknowledge customers being on time after their multiple reminders but they're not w a 1st appt of the day - her name is Evelyn) comes out and asks me why Im there and I said my name and the time of my appointment. She said okay but she was wondering why I was still waiting out front...? I told her I checked out the back but theres no sign or note in the email on what is preferred by them. She didnt say anything in response but showed me the beauty lounge and space I would be in. She was kind and laidback for the service which made me a bit more confused by the introductory conversation. She suggested to come out and try other services and staff and my skin definitely benefited and felt so much more refreshed, which I was grateful for. I recently went back to check if they still have the dermaplaning service which is now unfortunately removed, so I will be checking out other places for the time being.
