We were on time and had appointments but the staff completely disregarded us and serviced customers who had later appointments than we did. Other parents even commented that we arrived first, but the sharkeys staff ignored us anyways. Jay Jay has been getting his haircut with Ms. Nancy, the best children's stylist in Austin, since he was 6 months old. She is a new stylist to Sharkey's but she's been cutting our Jay Jay's hair since he was born pretty much. We have followed Ms. Nancy for the last 5 years anywhere she goes in Austin because she simply is the best. She knows how to make your child feel totally comfortable while getting their haircut and she is able to cut our son's hair perfectly. Our son has a flat head on top and many cowlicks and she cuts his hair, to make it look like he has a round head, and she is able to cut his hair perfectly to disguise the cowlicks. MS. NANCY IS THE BEST and we're glad she set up shop at Sharkey's. I ALSO FORGOT, today she trimmed my hair for the first time. I've had the same haircut for 28 years. It's straight and thin. I'm not going to pay $200 plus just for a trim at a salon. Sharkey's has Mommy & Child or Daddy & Child packages, that are extremely reasonable. I took my son (almost 2) here a couple months ago for a haircut and was so impressed. Nancy is fabulous. She knew exactly how to comfort my son and explain what she's going to do for him. She was so patient! We went again on 8/20 and again, Nancy for the win! She let my little boy hold the clippers to feel it and hear it before she did anything as he was a little uneasy. Round 1 blew me away with how well he responded and the stylists ability to get the job done. Could have used a little more detail around the ears and neck line, though. Round 2 was a bit rough for the little fella! I thought it was going to be a breeze, and it wasn't. The stylist had patience which we greatly appreciated. I think the cut could have came out a bit better with the fading and detail, but our child was all over the place. I think a little more communication about cutting styles preferred and the willingness to move around the seat instead of moving the seat at around. Unbelievable service! My toddler son had had 4 haircuts and they were all sub par. Moved to Austin and posted to Facebook asking for suggestions and was told to go to Sharkeys. The beautiful lady who helped us not only did a stellar haircut but dealt with my toddler whom was screaming and THRASHING like a mess the whole time. She was calm and understanding and didn't mind at all. It made all the difference. I can't thank her enough. Wish I remembered her name. These ladies are a god send. My two year old hates haircuts and cried as soon as we walked in. Everyone there immediately tried their best to make him feel at home. The woman cutting his hair obviously had dealt with this before and made us feel like we weren't alone in the matter and that kids were like this all the time. When we figured out that my son wasn't going to stop crying, she went right to cutting, she cut his hair fast and did a great job. To start making the appointment was incredibly easy. About 15 minutes prior to the appointment time I received a text to let me know the stylist was ready! Upon entering we were greeted and checked in immediately. Yolanda gave us the option to sit together and I already knew things would turn out better than our previous visit to another local kids hair salon. Yolanda did a great job at making my boy comfortable and took the time to gain his trust. We didn't have a perfect experience only because my little one is still learning the whole process but the improvement I saw hands down had to do with Yolanda Not to mention that she took time to actually style his hair. Weekends you will wait 45 min even if you have an appointment. We made an appointment fir 3:15pm. We were asked to wait in the car for 15 min. Then they called us in. We sat and are still waiting at 3:57pm. Would you like to wait 45+ with a 3 year old? It's not easy. Don't recommend. I just requested a boys cut and my sons hair looks horrible. We attempted to fix a couple times but it just kept getting worse. I will have to go to another place to get it fixed. This was our first time at the place after reading rave reviews so we decided to take the drive there.The place was very boring,the stylist was not at all friendly with my toddler as if she was rushing to get the haircut over with which I did not understand as we went with appointment and the saloon had no rush.She did a very basic job with uneven clipper work on the edges and then scissor cut on top which didn't even look neat.After haircut I had to remind her that I needed the wash after washing my sons hair was not dried which again I had to remind her.Last but not least my sons shirt was left wet which again I had to remind to be dried.By the end of it I was tired and was ready to head out.Never trying them again. read more

I took my sons, ages 10 and 11, to get their hair cut at the NEW Sharkey's on 360. It was a wonderful experience, and I thought the stylist, Yong, did a great job. My boys are special needs, and the owner offered to do "anything" that would help make the boys more comfortable. Yeah!! They actually turned off the music for us (which other places have refused to do). Of course, my one son just loved having more XBox One time!
