I have about run out of chances with this place. We've been coming here since my son was 4. We used to have a great hairdresser do his hair, but she left last year. I have tried the other hairdressers there and two of them have completely butchered my son's hair. I called the manager to let him know both times because I wasn't the one with him when he got his haircut. I've expressed that I wasn't happy with the cut, and he's offered for them to look at it. Honestly, there's not much they can do to fix the mistakes. It is full on butchered and just needs to grow back. I am so upset that I wasted $32 on a haircut that looks like I did it myself at home. First of all the receptionist is insanity entitled. They need to be more careful with speaking about customers in Spanish when they don't know if the client is bilingual. They're all standing around staring at each other and gossiping. Only one guy was actually cutting hair and obviously they don't want to make money. I was told I needed an appointment even though I called and spoke with someone who told me last walk in was at 3:45 I got inside building at 3:50 pm. I stood around for 3-5 minutes then decided to walk out because I remembered last time I did make an appointment I was running 3-4 minutes late because of traffic and was told my appointment would be canceled if I wasn't there in the next minute. Value: So you don't come here for the cheapest haircut but as prices are getting higher and higher, it really isn't that much more expensive to be in an environment that has a t v for the little kids and also is very kid friendly. Parking: shared parking lot with no issues parking on the weekend. Atmosphere: So it's generally pretty cute. And they have very cheap things that are available for purchase of course of a price because it's captive audience. The only issue that I really had is I didn't feel it was a very clean environment, and because the cars have lots of nocks and crannies, it doesn't seem like they are very clean or they really could be. Two I think out of the four of the chair cars were broken as well. I ended up grabbing the dust buster and trying to vacuum up a little bit more.. I think they need to invest in a better quality cleaning machine. Stylist: The stylus was very sweet, actually. Both of them were nice and didn't excellent job on both of their haircuts. Note: This is a pretty popular place, and it is not often that you will find same day appointments. You usually will have to book an advance which they can have you do online. I walked in with an 11:40 AM appointment when I first called to set up the appointment they told me it was $25 but when I went in to pay they told me that it was $28 so I decided to go to a different place, and as I was walking out, Nydia came out to grab me and told me that she would give me a discount for it to be $25 again, so we went in again and decided to do the haircut. That's when I knew that I loved Nydia so much not only because of that, but because she was very gentle, and very sweet to my little boy, that is true love for kids. The stylist did not demonstrate that she knew how to cut toddler hair. Her excuse for the most horrible haircut I have ever seen was, "He wouldn't sit still." That's the whole reason why we as parents bring them to you!!! this Haircut was so ugly that we had no choice but to shave it all off!!! Good thing he's a boy and this won't affect him too much. However, it did traumatize his older sister who was crying because her little brother had to get his head shaved. I don't know if I could ever bring my kids back to Sharkey's again! We would have been better off just letting his hair grow out or finding A more qualified salon... Took my daughter super last minute (booked at 2 for a 230 appointment). I didn't even read through to see that there was an option for a "Girls First Haircut" and just selected a regular girls cut. We made it in time and were greeted upon walking in. They checked us in and very quickly the provider cutting our hair (listed as Nydia) came out and took our daughter to wash her hair, where I told her it was her first haircut. She let the gentleman at the front know and he adjusted my reservation. My daughter was excited about the Elsa Jeep and they let her sit in it during the cut and put on her favorite Frozen 2 movie. After her haircut, Nydia braided her hair and put a cute little flower clip in. Then took her to paint her nails and put sparkles in her hair. They gave her a sticker, balloon, and lollipop, and gave me a first haircut certificate with a lock of her hair and a photo they took. I came 10 min late (which I take full responsibility for) but I asked for just a cut (no wash) so at least my daughter can at least get a cut. They proceeded to say that they pretty much couldn't accommodate me because they took a walk in, pretty much replacing my appointment. (Even though I had 10 min left of my session booked). They claimed to say that because they called me (although the conversation was just to confirm if I was coming, which I did say I was) never told me that they had a late policy. I then asked if their store policies are on website or something I can reference in the future, which then they said they don't have it on anything. What bothers me the most was taking on another appointment even though they knew I was coming and still had 10 min left of my session.
