AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. Yes Sharkey's is low cost but they should be ashamed of the service they provide. I brought my daughters in for wash, cut and blow service. During one cut the stylist Tina complained and chastised me for almost the entire time her hair was knotty. Started off with telling me what kind of shampoo to use and ended with her trying to charge me $18. I made it clear my daughter was at camp for the week so it was going to be knotty. A $35 cut, wash and blow took 35 minutes. I was prepare to tip generously as I knew it was more work than usual. As parents we have so much to do but 20 minutes of being told on repeat that your kid's hair is knotty the only tip I have is shut the f up. My other daughter received a haircut from another stylist and it was on a complete diagonal. Going for a haircut and wash should be a somewhat relaxing experience with a fun outcome. My kids were quiet and excited at ages 8 and 10. I just wanted to get out of there because I felt uncomfortable and frustrated. If you want a stressful time caused by the poor services of the workers, then this is the place for you. I rather a stress free $100 haircut for my kids. read more

Took my 8-year-old to get a couple of inches trimmed off and it was very traumatic for her. We had an appointment with Lashaunda and we showed up early (per the appointment instructions). I went to open the door and it was locked, which was confusing to me. We stood for a few minutes while looking in the door. She eventually came to the door and unlocked it but was not friendly to us when we came in - claiming that she was on her lunch break (leaving us feeling like we were troubling her). After a couple of minutes sitting awkwardly, she came over and gruffly asked for our appointment info. She then went to the back of the store. I don't remember if she said if she checked us in, so I went over to the tablet to check-in (since it had that message on the screen and I didn't see visual confirmation). She then got a bit confrontational and said that she already checked us in. After a few more minutes, she asked if my daughter was good with shampoo and guided us to the back. There was no designated place to sit, so I saw a small stool and went to sit on it. Lashaunda got irritated with me and told me to sit over in the nail-polish area. There were 2 chairs, so I went to the one furthest back and she got irritated again, saying "not that one, this one!" while pulling out one of the other chairs. When I finally sat down, my daughter was sitting in the chair with a raised cushion, starting to get her hair washed. My daughter is super tall, so I could tell that she was not comfortable with the way she was sitting (she did not need the cushion). The hairdresser started shampooing and washing her hair in an aggressive manner - to the point that my daughter had tears in her eyes. My daughter was too scared to say that the hairdresser was pulling too hard because she was afraid the hairdresser was going to get mad at her. Not once did Lashaunda pause and ask if my daughter was comfortable during this process. She also didn't try talking to her and was not friendly. We then went to one of the kid stools with a raised cushion. I didn't know where to sit, so I was looking around for any adult chairs and I tried to lift one of the cushions off. The hairdresser got irritated again and told me to sit on one of the other raised kid stools, which was a bit ridiculous for a full-sized woman. Not once did the hairdresser ask if my daughter wanted to watch something on one of the TVs or a play a video game. The only TV that was on was above the check-in desk, facing the waiting area, playing some preschool show (which was hard to hear since the hairdresser was blasting gospel music on her laptop). She then started to comb through my daughter's tangled hair with a plastic comb that was meant for a kid with thinner hair. It took a long time to comb through and I saw the comb break in half. Finally, she got out some detangling spray and a plastic hair brush and managed to comb the knots out. Then she started trimming my daughter's hair. My daughter's face was super concerned, and I kept asking her if she was okay. Again, my daughter was too intimidated to share that she was uncomfortable. After 10 minutes of trimming and blow drying, the hairdresser was done and told us to pick up some goodies at the check-in desk (balloon, plastic ring, sticker, lollipop). We were never offered the complimentary mini-cure that comes with each girl's haircut (per the website). I also asked about the free Dippin Dots promotion and was told that you have to pay for them. The only time that my daughter smiled during this experience was the end when we were leaving. I was grateful for my daughter to get a trim and her knots combed out, but not for how painful + uncomfortable the experience it was for her (especially since she is highly-anxious). Pros Everyone was very nice and apologetic. I actually think this location was less noisy, with only one TV showing a musical, 'Frozen II.' Ultimately the stylist did a nice job with our daughter's hair, and she left happy to have a fresh 'do' for her trip to Germany. Cons I had never in my life had a salon be late for an appointment, let alone by 20 minutes. We'd booked a wash & cut - and driven over half an hour away - for the first available stylist, Justine. I had never seen a stylist cut hair so slowly and meticulously. The stylist knew she was late. She knew her client was there. She was told we were trying to make a flight. It felt like the DMV sloth scene from Zootopia. There was another stylist available, and we offered to switch, but he said he only cut boys' hair. Evidently the child's hair, though short, was also very thick, and she wanted to take more time with her? The check-in screen didn't work. We were asked several times for our name, as though they couldn't find the appointment, but it was in the system and we had a texted confirmation. Lots of coughing without covering mouths. Justine told us that owner-stylist Elizabeth offers more advanced styling options such as permanent hair color highlights. She does not, as it turns out. As you might imagine, they don't have those supplies and just do temp fun festival color highlights. Which is what I'd countered, and Justine reiterated that no really - she does real highlights...‍she really doesn't, and someone should tell Justine. For what would have been our second visit, there were some back and forth system auto prompts trying to swap stylists without first getting permission and then it took several calls and texts to ultimately cancel. Was driving me nuts. We have only ever had delightful experiences at the North Raleigh location, which wasn't open this early, so the first part of our first visit to the Morrisville outpost was unfortunate. read more

This place has the vibe of like Mufassa died from lion king. I expect the kids hair cut place to have more vibe, cheery attitude. My 60 year old barber is more friendlier than this place. Very dirty, I came in at 9am and lifed the seat and found hair all over and they didn't even brother cleaning it until I elected to sit somewhere else because she expected me to sit there. The person I had wasn't even interested in cutting my sons hair and pushed me over to a new person who was having his first day. He def needed some training because from a fawhawk fade he gave a full buzz cut. I was highly annoyed. They don't even have proper training to brush off hair off my kids face nor had brushed and equip I had ask for it to be brushed off and got handed a towel to do it. I recommend taking your kids elsewhere because this was my second chance to this place. Def expect ring worm or other unhealthy issues form this unsanitary place, bad attitude, hair all over your car because they don't know how to properly brush off hair and random long patches of hair on your kid as the staff is inexperienced and the entire management/location seems to careless of this place. read more

Not happy with the service. I selected Erin but got unskilled Quileah. She was rude, asked for detailed instructions on how we wanted a little boys cut. It wasn't what we expected for $27 cut. The owner offered for us to return back in 2 days to get Erin this time around and attempt to fix. However with hair once it has been cut you can uncut in certain spots to fix it. I expected better than this from Sharkey's. They need trained people and not switch stylist when customer selected a particular stylist. read more

Tried Sharkey's out for my daughter and it was a fail. I made an appointment and we arrived on time. When we walked in it was immediately apparent it was a zoo inside. Chaotic and no one working there knew what was going on. I tried checking in and barely got a response from the lady at the front desk. She said they were behind and she had one person in front of my daughter. She cut that persons hair and proceeded to take another kid. I then went back to the front to ask how long the wait was. The guy now at the front was confused and asked if I had an appointment. I said yes and that I have been waiting for 30 minutes now. He looked overwhelmed and gave me no answer and proceeded to take someone else back without any understanding of how much longer the wait was. We eventually gave up and let the lady know we were leaving. No apologies, nothing. She said ok as if she could care less and we left without a haircut. Disorganized and unprofessional. The Sharkeys Cuts for kids, located in Norman is a wonderful place! All of the workers are so helpful and friendly! I have 3 kids to juggle and various ages, so it is a nice place for them to get a haircut. Lashay, Jael, and Janine are super sweet and helpful. They're great at communicating with me and the kids. This is our second time trying Sharkey's. Emphasis on "try." The first time I got a phone call about 15 minutes before our appointment when we were in our way that our stylist wasn't at work.
