I am honestly still in shock over what happened at GG's Hair Styling in Apex, and after having time to process the experience, I feel like I need to warn others. I booked appointments for my daughter and myself five days in advance. I spoke with Nick and was very clear that I have long, very thick, naturally red hair. I scheduled a haircut, complete color, blowout and style, and my daughter was scheduled for a cut and highlights. We were getting ready to leave for vacation, and I took the day off work specifically so we could get our hair done beforehand. I explained this and was assured they would "make it work." When we arrived, Hannah started my hair. I specifically asked to have about 5-6 inches taken off. Instead, more than 10 inches was cut off. Even then, I was unbelievably calm about it. I didn't get angry or make a scene. I basically said, "It's okay, it's just hair." Looking back, I think I was so caught off guard that I hadn't even processed what had happened yet. But what happened next is what I truly cannot believe. AFTER more than 10 inches of my hair had already been cut off, I was told they didn't have enough time or enough color/product to complete my color -- AND they didn't even have enough time to finish the haircut they had already started. At that point, my hair had basically been chopped off and was extremely choppy, uneven and obviously unfinished. This wasn't about not having time for a blowout or style. My actual haircut was not finished. Their solution was for me to leave the salon looking like that and come back later that evening so they could finish cutting and styling my hair. Then I was offered the option of coloring half of my hair that day and coming back the following week to color the other half. I am honestly still trying to understand how any of that was considered an acceptable solution. If they didn't have enough time or product to complete my appointment, I should have been told that before anyone touched my hair, not after more than 10 inches had already been cut off. Nick knew when the appointment was booked that my hair was long and extremely thick. Had I simply been told they couldn't accommodate the services I requested, I would have understood and gone somewhere else. Instead, I trusted them. I went in excited to have my hair done before vacation and left without the complete haircut, color, blowout and style I had scheduled, with an unfinished, choppy haircut, and with more than 10 inches of my hair gone when I had only asked for 5-6 inches. The more I look at my hair and process how this was handled, the more shocked and upset I become. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone at a professional salon could think it was acceptable to cut that much of a client's hair off and THEN tell her they didn't even have time to finish the haircut. I was patient, calm and understanding throughout the situation. Unfortunately, I feel like my willingness to be understanding was taken advantage of rather than appreciated. I absolutely intend to share my experience so other people understand exactly what happened here and can make an informed decision before trusting this salon with their hair. Once more than 10 inches of your hair has been cut off, there is no putting it back. I am still in disbelief that this happened. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend GG's Hair Styling in Apex, and I would strongly caution anyone considering going there -- I will be filing a complaint with the state board. First time experience. I got the opposite of the haircut I wanted. GG did not listen to the instructions I gave her and she clipped off most of my hair when I told her completely different instructions. Once it is cut off you cannot put it back. I will never go back there ever. read more

I started going to GG's many years ago, back when I couldn't find anyone to cut thick Asian hair. I know when I ended up with a triangle-head in middle school, I needed to try harder to find somewhere who could cut my hair well. That place turned out to be GG's, and I haven't looked back since. Even after I moved out of town for college and work, I still get my hair cut by GG every time I come back to NC to visit family. We call in advance to schedule appointments, and it's quick and easy. They're just closed on Sundays now in order to spend time with their family. When I arrive, GG and Nick are always very welcoming. Before cutting my hair, GG will make sure to clarify exactly what haircut I want and then wash my hair in their sink (it feels great!). I basically end up getting a similar haircut each time, and GG remembers how I like it. She is very careful and skilled with the cuts, and I'm generally very pleased with the outcome. The atmosphere is great, as you can tell most of the clientele are returning customers who GG and the rest of her staff are familiar with. I also don't mind the compliments she gives while cutting my hair! The only thing is the cost is more than I expected this time: I paid $60 (pre-tip) for a wash, cut, and style, but to be fair, it also ended up taking about an hour because I had my hair thinned for the first time since the pandemic started. read more

I desperately needed a haircut and my Dad offered to make an appointment with his barber for me to get a haircut. We ended up at GG's Hair Styling and my barber was Danny Nguyen. Dad said I was I good hands with Danny, and he was right. The place was packed and busy for a Friday afternoon, which shows that it is a good sign this hair salon does great business and the stylists know what they are doing. I told Danny how I get haircut done in the past and he did an excellent job following my directions and giving me the haircut that I wanted. He was very professional and friendly, and we had a great conversation. Danny gave me the best haircut I have had in a long time, and I was impressed with his skills and abilities. It is good to know that next time I visit my Dad and I need a haircut, I have a place to go and can recommend Danny. No need to waste money which by the way they charged the same as my hairstylist (who happens to be on vacation) but with inferior end results. This was not a good experience. My stylist was very polite, but my hair has never been cut so unevenly in my life. I hate that I'm giving a bad review, but there are so many random strands of long hair where short hair should be. My bangs are also completely uneven as if I have a dual haircut different on the right and left. Was also not offered a shampoo, nor any product. My bangs were unsettled and so uneven. In my lifetime I've never taken scissors to my own hair as I would be afraid of a similar result, and this made me grab my scissors immediately upon arriving home to attempt to make it better. I was only brave enough to take one snip, on the front where it was most obvious , but I'm going to have to find another salon to fix it. The atmosphere was also less than desirable, I'm so confused as to how this place has five stars. I really had different expectations. I went there once before and got a decent haircut. The second time I visited (today), I received what I believe to be the worst haircut I have ever received. Gigi was the one cutting my hair both times. I asked for a little bit of the 'fizziness' to be cleaned up, but overall I asked to keep my hair long. I proceeded to show her pictures of what I wanted as well. When the haircut was done it was not even close to what I asked for, and my hair is now very short. After the cut, she proceeded to say "This haircut is good for summer weather," acknowledging how she didn't cut it the way I asked whatsoever.
