We just had a haircut by Ethiopia for our 2 yr old son. she immediately started with electric razor cutting his hair waaay too short and completely ruining his hairline. Because of the mistake, she had raise the hairline on the other side to balance making it worse. Almost looks like the result of a vet sheering an animal's leg to perform minor surgery. Really really bad haircut and poor communication the entire time. read more

This location is so disappointing. The seats are always dirty and covered in hair. I've tried several different stylists and they each say the last stylist cut my daughter's bangs wrong. This last time the stylist cut a chunk out of my daughter's bangs after I asked to have the two sides match. A second stylist tried to even them out but agreed it wasn't possible. Then the manager offered a $3 discount to compensate. $30 for a trim and bangs that are totally uneven. We will not return. read more

The woman who cut my son's hair was very sweet and let him pick what he wanted to watch on TV and chatted with him, but the cut is SO SHORT and she left him with patches that are longer than others, went way too short in the back and sides and went way too far up his neck in the back. He hates it and was in tears and wants to wear hats to school now. I probably won't return which is tough because the staff is very kind, but just not skilled. read more

Honestly I like how kid friendly it is. The haircut itself is okay not the best but I only take my son here because he actually enjoys getting his haircut now they play his favorite show and he feels comfortable here. He's 3. I took him to a barber shop before this and he would cry. As long as he's happy I don't mind paying $25 if he will actually sit for it. I do think they try to rush the haircut. Last time they missed some hair but I also made sure it was okay before we left so I was satisfied. HE LOVED IT! read more

Our daughter loves the powerwheels barber chairs, and always picks the Frozen one if available. Our stylist was very friendly and did a great job on our daughter's hair, plus did a great job on her nails as well. She always walks out with a balloon and a smile. Really disappointed. My 24 mo son had his first cut this morning. He has some bald spots still filling in on the sides so we weren't expecting it to be perfect. He wasn't comfortable sitting in the car himself so he sat on my husband's lap. Once he was on his dad's lap, he was fine. I realize the angle wasn't easy, but the cut is really bad. Crooked in the back, uneven around the ears. The stylist just rushed and didn't seem to care about making it look nice. Had she taken 5 more minutes to clean it up, it would have made a huge difference. I just really feel like she ruined our first haircut experience. Again, really disappointed. I don't know her name but there was another stylist there (I think named Mena) that seemed to be much better. If you decide to risk it, try to ask for her. read more

I took my daughter here for her 1st haircut. I feel like Sharkey's could be great, but needs a little TLC. My daughter got to pick out a car to sit in to get her hair cut which was a huge hit. Our stylist, Daria, was super friendly and good with my daughter and I was happy with the haircut. I was a little disappointed that my daughter wasn't offered to watch tv as advertised - I think she would've loved this. She received a 1st haircut certificate, lock of hair, photo, lollipop, goodie bag (pretzels and plastic fangs), and a balloon. There was an issue printing the 1st haircut photo, though this was resolved. The appointment took about 30 min. Overall, I felt like this place was new and the operations weren't ironed out. I'd be willing to give them another shot in the future. read more

I have never written a yelp review but I had two bad experiences here. the first time, though we paid for the full haircut experience- my son did not get the hair wash due to the stylist being in a rush and the hair was cut too short. The second time, we checked in and were told a 10 min wait - they then proceeded to take a customer who checked in after me, saying the other stylist was almost done. my son loved the set up and it's very kid friendly but we did not have good experiences with the stylists twice. read more

We had such a good first haircut experience here! My son is pretty fussy and I was nervous but he LOVED Sharkey's and his haircut with Mary turned out so so handsome. She was patient while he kept dancing to Cocomelon . We got a lock of his hair to keep and a "Certificate of First Haircut". We will be back to see Mary again. read more

Update from my previous review - I received a call from a gentleman claiming to be the owner who apologized for the experience and offered me a refund. We even had to return shortly after leaving because he had patches of hair in the front from being improperly cut. I'm so disappointed that I actually paid for this cut. In addition, each time we had his hair cut the stylist would nick his ear with the clippers. It seems like none of the stylists have been properly trained in how to cut hair. Horrible experience with Stylist Cameron. This was our third time here. When we went there first two times it was very nice experience everyone in staff were polite and friendly. Third time we had horrible experience. This was a first time we had appointment with Stylist Cameron. He was very rough with our 3 year old daughter . Usually we stand beside her daughter during her hair cut because this is comforting for her. This time he asked us not to stand beside her and sit down away from her. When he started cutting hairs he was throwing all the cut hairs in the air some of them fell off on our clothes. He was in such a hurry and treating us in a way that we are some customers walked in without appointment and not going to pay for haircut and we are begging. He quickly finished hair cut didn't make even check if the hairs are cut evenly. When we asked that some of hairs were uneven he went away for a long time and come back in 15 mins or so. My daughter was so shaken up that she hugged her mother tightly after the hair cut seeing this he was asking was this first time she came to such place. Our daughter was so shaken up so we wanted to get away from there as soon as possible. This stylist Cameron was talking normally to other persons present there so not sure what is reason for such horrible behavior towards us may be it's our skin color. We chose the location for our son's haircut ion October last year. Yesterday, we returned and the experience was quite different and disappointing. Last year, the receptionist/manager and the hairdresser were friendly and tried to make our son feel comfortable. That's the reason why we picked Sharkey's and not a regular barbershop. Yesterday, the employees didn't welcome us to Sharkey's, they barely smiled and we had to ask for the staff to turn on the TV. At the time of payment, there was no option to give less tip than the $6 and I decided to pay $6 in addition to the expensive haircut. I should have asked to decrease the tip significantly or to not give a tip at all. Our son talked about his first haircut, but yesterday's visit didn't impress him at all. Our local barbershop is friendlier and more attentive and we will no longer visit the Sterling location at this point. The haircut was disappointing as well. Horrible service!!!! Messed up my son's hair for his first day of school. Even after a showed a picture of exactly what I wanted before hand. If you know you don't have the skill to do a basic line up then say so instead of trying when you're not sure of your capabilities. Had to stop mid cut then in too of that they still charged full price. Never again. They were also rushing as if we aren't paying customers with an APPOINTMENT. We aren't beggars asking for service. I had to find another barber shop who luckily was able to work a miracle and save his hair from that disaster. read more

Pretty disappointed with the experience. First of all, though the package says boys cut includes Wash ( it doesnt). Also the stylist seemed herself fazed by the shrieks of ny toddler ( even the kid on the other chair was not happy). TVs were too small to catch the kids's attention, also by the end of haircut we saw that there was a cut on my son's ear. We were happy to be out of the salon at the end of our appointment. Took my daughter here today for a trim and they did a horrible job cutting her hair. It's super short and it was not what I asked! It shows that they don't have professionals cutting hair here. This place is great for young children and even for getting an adult haircut! We felt very safe there and our kids enjoyed getting haircuts in cars and watching tv at the same time. Would definitely recommend this place to any family with young children! read more

I made an appointment for a kids first haircut, and a boys cut for my 2 yo and 7yo respectively. The stylist was not who I booked- and he did a crap job with both kids. 2 yo has had a professional haircut with my stylist and she did not have to restrain him as she used scissors rover comb- this older Asian man used clippers for almost the whole cut and shoving my sons head down hard- I had to step in to hold him and he's a pretty chill little guy. Cut wasn't even and it too short since he just kept trying to even it out, but did a poor job. 7 yo has thick hair and a the guy used thinning shears on him- which I didn't really understand but now that his hair is dry it is pretty bad- sticking up in the back due to the cut. Neither kid got their hair washed and the price was OUTRAGEOUS at $28 per kid. My husband gets his cut at a professional barbershop for $20. I was stunned at the prices and didn't even tip I was so irritated, then the stylist had the nerve to give himself a 5 star rating while showing me how to bypass the tip. The shop is dirty, the little car the kids sit in where in poor repair and needed a thorough cleaning as well. Steer clear of this place and just go to the hair cuttery- same level of service for a fraction of the price. Note that they don't even post pricing on websites or in the store- regrets abound. The staff was all so amazing here! I took my son for his first haircut, he got to watch his favorite show, sit in a cool car and get a balloon. They give a cute little certificate and lock of hair for first haircuts. Mary did a great job and exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be returning back for all of my sons haircuts read more
