I have eaten there several times before it changed the name to JJ Fish. Their fried catfish has already been one of our favourites.

But once inside you figure out quickly it is truly a hidden gem. The spinach dip was so good, the waitress was so accommodating and nice and appeared to give honest feedback when asked about her dish preferences. By far the star of the show was the red snapper. I was scared it would be dry but boy was I wrong!!! It was seasoned to perfection and so hot and delicious...can't believe I almost passed on it. It's been a struggle to find good food in Macon but this place checks all the boxes and I hope it stays around for years to come!

Located in Downtown Macon, parking is available via street parking. Finding a close spot on the weekend is like winning the Mega Million, possible, but don't count on it. We lucked up on this night and found a spot directly across from the restaurant. As we made our way to the entrance, we were unexpectedly greeted by a woman passionately yelling obscenities at us. Nothing like a little downtown ambiance to set the mood. Thankfully, the heavy police presence on every corner made me feel safe enough to proceed to the restaurant. Once inside, the chaos faded instantly. We were welcomed by a gregarious and friendly staff, informed them of our reservation, and were seated immediately. On this particular Saturday, they weren't overly busy, so we even had the luxury of choosing which booth best suited our comfort level. The atmosphere is intimate and upscale without being stuffy. Think dim lighting, elegant music, exposed ceilings, and décor that says "rustic charm" but also "yes, this entrée will cost more than $30." Our waiter was professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant, the kind of service that makes you relax and stop checking the time. We started with cocktails: I ordered the strawberry lemon drop martini, and my husband opted for an old fashioned. Both were well-crafted, smooth, and strong enough to make us forget about the crazy lady outside. For appetizers, we each ordered the crab cake. You get one small crab cake, but it was tasty and respectable by Middle Georgia standards. Entrées are à la carte, so order accordingly. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with Brussels sprouts and spinach, while my husband chose the salmon with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both fish dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted fresh, with sauces that paired beautifully. The Brussels sprouts were crispy, flavorful, and addictive. My husband said his mashed potatoes were possibly the creamiest he's ever had. All of the food was outstanding. Dessert options include their 3rd & Cherry cobbler, cheesecake, and crème brûlée. Heads up: desserts are made to order and take about 20 minutes. Translation, order dessert early unless you're prepared to sit there long enough to contemplate life choices. The restaurant and restrooms were clean, which always earns bonus points. Overall, we had a lovely experience at 3rd & Cherry. It's an excellent choice for a special occasion, date night, or anytime you want to feel a little fancy without leaving Middle Georgia. We'll definitely be back.

So, on Friday afternoon, and using KNG Delivery, I ordered the Philly cheese steak roll, and Wings. I did find the place to be a bit pricey. Especially, since KNG (like all delivery services) has Price Mark ups. Fries: While tasty, they weren't cooked uniformly (ranged from barely cooked, to almost burnt). Philly Cheese Steak Roll: I had originally planned on also including a, Lobster Roll. But, with the Discount Code snafu, I forgot. Now, with a name like, The Crab Hut, and ordering a "Roll", one would expect bread, and not Chinese flair (overstuffed, fried Egg Roll wraps. So, indeed, it was a bit of a shock to see this. It was delicious. But, having just Soy Sauce for dipping every bite, it proved to be way too much sodium for my liking. Perhaps, Red Sauce, or even Yum Yum sauce, would be better. I may give this another chance. And, I definitely want to try the Lobster Roll. Wings: To paraphrase "Aunt Clara", Where's the Wings? I know that wins are very expensive for restaurants, but, I don't think I've ever seen such small ones as these. While tasty, all 10 wings + the fries, barely managed to satisfy me (typically, with other restaurants, I get 2 meals from the Wings). So, with KNG's mark up, I won't be ordering these again.

On the outbound leg of a driving trip, my friend requested a late lunch stop. After getting through…read morea traffic delay in Macon, we pulled off I-16 here. It is within a half mile of the interstate. Parking wasn't a huge problem, but it appeared that you could get stuck on one side if the drive through line backed up (which it was starting to do). I parked on the pick-up-window side where there was more room. Following the recent trend, this McDonald's uses order kiosks. 3 of the 4 kiosks were out of service, though. They have also introduced some new system where you are told to pick up a plastic 'V' with a number on it so that they might bring the food to your table (where you should display said 'V'). However it also spits out your receipt with an order #, so you can just pick it up at the counter yourself. I'm not sure if the new table-related delivery is to reduce congestion near the counter where people wait on orders...? Other than the single-queue for ordering, things proceeded fairly quickly. I just got some fries as a snack. We came just after the lunch rush, so everything was somewhat in disarray (I'm assuming this isn't the permanent state of things). Things were relatively clean, though. Options can become sparse further south along I-16, so this place may be a good option for a quick bite before going further.
