The staff here was friendly and welcoming, making it a popular spot for locals. The pancakes were enormous and delicious, but unfortunately, the hash browns fell short. They were simply cubed potatoes with no seasoning, peppers or onions--just bland and barely browned, as the pictures show. The eggs were decent, as you can't go wrong there, and the bacon was good. However, the sausage was unexpected; it was regular Italian sausage offered in hot or sweet, which felt out of place for a breakfast spot. When you order eggs with sausage you expect breakfast sausage especially on a Sunday morning at 10:45 am! My biggest concern was the wait time. Despite the busy atmosphere, it took nearly an hour and a half for our meals to arrive. That's quite unacceptable for a small establishment unless there's a valid reason. After reading several other reviews, it seems this is a recurring issue. Unfortunately, I don't plan on returning. The two stars are for the large pancake and the friendly waitress. Eat where the locals eat and you can never go wrong. Super nice people and a place like "Cheers" where if you are a local everyone knows your name... probably what you like to drink and eat as well. For us out of town'ers this was a great breakfast stop. As soon as one of our guests ordered two pancakes they gave a warning on just how big they were. Throwing caution to the wind they ordered two anyway. As soon as they arrived everyone near us looked on as if a food challenge had just started. Some joked that a shirt should be given if they were finished. Indeed they became lunch and dinner too. I'm revising my previous good review because of awful treatment we received today, Sunday, March 9, 2025, When we arrived it was busy, so we waited patiently for our order to be taken. Gradually the restaurant emptied out, but our order was not served to us. We were never offered coffee refills while waiting. No one stopped by our table at all. After more than 40 minutes of waiting, with most tables empty and close to closing time, servers were ignoring us, and a young couple that arrived more than ten minutes after we did received their food. There was no sign of any food being prepared on the flat-top for us. We never received our order before leaving. We stayed quiet and did not complain. I believe that the servers disliked us for some reason and decided that we would not receive our food. I can't put in writing what possible reasons are, but I do not recommend this place for anyone but locals. read more

I posted this on my Facebook page : Todays adventure: I had breakfast in Scranton, PA at a little diner called Sharon's Place. To get there I drove through potholed streets and neighborhoods that looked like both homes and businesses needed a little TLC. Sharon's place is a small storefront diner that looks like it has been there for a very long time (like most of Scranton). I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it was highly recommended on Yelp, the tiny parking lot was full, I was hungry and I had some time to kill before the next stop I wanted to make (insert drumroll) the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour! Inside the diner was a counter and several tables with the cook busy at a griddle against the wall right behind the counter ...no back kitchen. Scanning the options, I sat at a table in the back and noticed that, like myself, most of the patrons there were older folks. I had to smile at the 70's rock music being played, and the group of 6 or 7 old guys gathered together at the counter having a good time together. They looked like old buddies that meet at the diner regularly....I hoped it was because of the food. The 1 waitress (Pamela) was super friendly, and keep coming back to my table to chat with me, eventually even introducing me to others at a nearby table as "her friend Anne", her new friend from Florida. She was so excited about my plans to visit the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour ..she has lived in Scranton most of her life and recommended the tour along with a few other highlights. One old guy at the counter said, "I thought the tour was only open on the weekends?" I told him the website shows it open as of April 1, with tours operating every hour. Some folks were surprised at my interest in their little gem, but who wouldn't want to descend 300 feet below the earths surface to learn about the fascinating history of coal mining? I said goodbye to my new diner friends and headed about 2 miles away to the park where the coal mine tour was located. Sadly, when I got there it looked like the guy in the diner was right, everything was closed up and I was the lone car in the parking lot. I got a few pictures outside just to say I was there! I have no regrets, my breakfast in Scranton was fun and I met some really nice people. If you ever find yourself in this area, check out Sharon's Place, and as a bonus, if you go on a weekend you can do the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour - I would love to know how it is! read more

The breakfast sandwich was yummy on a national roll and I came in when they had the pumpkin pancakes so I ate that up :) can't go wrong stopping in for a bite just be warned the dining area is on the smaller side so it can get busy. read more

The neighborhood is a bit industrial so that could give someone pause, but the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding.
