Welcome back to today's video everyone, today I am out at the beautiful Harvey's Lake area stopping at a place called Lakeside Skillet. Now a few years ago I did a food review with my dearest co-host Cinnamon. After all these years I wanted to come back. As I walked in I was greeted by one of their servers in a very welcoming manor, I felt welcomed into this restaurant, as you all know one of my pet peeves. My server very nice and professional as well. Now I ordered "the dockmate" which comes with two eggs of your choice, I did sunny side up, also known in Pa as "dippy eggs". You had your choice of toast; I picked white which for me was toasted perfectly, not over or under toasted which also had a good amount of butter on it. You had your choice of meats, I picked sausage, now these were fattier looking links which had a nice snap to them. I did not ask but I think by the way they tasted they were deep fried; I could be wrong. Now the final component to this plate was the home fried potatoes which I added the onions and peppers, you got a nice amount which was crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside. We came here for brunch on a Monday. It's a casual but very popular joint by the lake. Service was decent but not amazing. I should have taken pictures of the menu but it is expansive. There's definitely something for everyone! I had the Bacon ranch dill pickle fries as an appetizer and they were delicious!! The fries were cooked perfectly, there was a great ratio of toppings and they mixed together great. I had the chunky monkey pancakes and they were delicious, one thing to make it even better would be to add nuts to them! But it really was like warm banana bread in pancake form! I also had some of the Monte cristo and that's the one thing that fell short. It just didn't hit the spot and the strawberry jam was completely liquid. The other dish I tried was the bbq pork quesadilla and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. All the prices were reasonable especially given its location and the limited options! read more

Food was meh and service was mediocre. I know it's a diner and the bar is low but c'mon, You're the only breakfast place on the lake and you have so much potential. Got the southwest skillet and my potatoes were uncooked in the middle. They serve house potatoes with almost every meal so you'd think at least they know to make potatoes. read more

Ok, would not believe it if I did not see it. Order 2 breakfast meals one was ordered with bacon the other sausage. Waitress brought both with two bacon. I asked didn't I order one with sausage and the other bacon. Waitress said oh ya. No big deal right? I thought so but then the Waitress came back with an empty plate and asked me to put the bacon on one of the orders on the empty plate because the kitchen wanted it back. Ok alittle weird. Then seen the kitchen put that bacon directly on someone's else's plate to be served. Yuck. My unused and handled bacon from me to another customer. Ya, won't be back ever read more

Delicious breakfast for a fantastic price! Tastes like really good home cooked food. Our waitress was very friendly & very interested in the fact that my mother & I were visiting from Southern California to see family out here. The breakfast potatoes with peppers & onions was so flavorful & the bacon was really thin & crisp! When I come back to Pennsylvania soon I hope we can come back here! read more

Good, classic brunch spot (with decent dinner offerings as well, with one of the best local veggie burgers) with a great menu with awesome specials, excellent coffee, and a wonderful wait staff. We've been going there almost every weekend since they've opened, and love it. read more

Popular place for breakfast! Waited a few minutes for a table for 2 on a Sunday morning. Standard breakfast items on the menu. Ordered a couple of skillet breakfasts which were good. Service was fine. Coffee was just dark water though. Will go back when in the area. read more

This place has the best breakfast in the valley and surrounding areas hands down. We usually go for breakfast each Saturday and when I get to pick this is my go to place. They have probably the best omelets hands down. We've always had fast and friendly service here as well. read more

This is the place for breakfast. The lump crab and cheese (or spinach) omelets are great, as are the breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions and the sourdough toast. For pancake and french toast lovers, the specials include numerous alluring choices (including pumpkin walnut and lemon berry pancakes on this particular visit). Eggs Blackstone are my No. 1 favorite (think Eggs Benedict with US (not Canadian) bacon and a tomato slice); the hollandaise sauce is right on. We were thrilled to find a place at Harveys Lake offering breakfast daily from 7 AM to 4 PM. We were told that the restaurant has been open for a few years, and judging from the crowd, is enjoying great success. We hope to try the lunch and dinner menus soon. read more

My friends and I enjoyed our meal here on Sunday. We were a large group and were seated quickly. Service was friendly and fast. I had the spinach salad with chicken and it was delicious. Ingredients were fresh. Also got to taste my friend's pumpkin nut pancake and I thought that was tasty as well. read more

Not only was the service awful but they found a way to screw up the easiest meal of the day, BREAKFAST. The waitress was completely nasty (I think her name was Mimi) and has no business dealing with customers face to face. Even if you have to drive 30 minutes to a different restaurant do it. I would opt for Taco Bell next time if I had the choice... and I hate taco bell read more

I had heard the French toast was amazing. I stopped in on a Friday morning. Our waitress was less than pleasant. She never smiled once, not even for the surrounding tables she waited on. She threw down the straws at us. She did check back on us, but still did not smile. As for the french toast it wasn't what I was expecting. It seemed as if it was dipped in batter, then deep fried, which left it super crunchy and greasy. The bacon was really good though. That was the only plus. read more

Been here multiple times, service is always terrible, but it is a short walk from my house. Waitress didn't introduce herself the last couple times I went, never smiled, just took our order and left. Afterwards she just dropped off our food and started to walk away, I needed a coffee, so I asked her for a cup, she poured me a cup, but didn't offer milk or anything, which wasn't on the table. Never checked up on us again, just dropped off the check. Food was pretty good though, but the terrible service makes for a lousy experience. read more

I've been here a few times with family, since they live not too far from Harvey's Lake. Besides Grotto Pizza, there really is a lack of casual dining along the lake - so I thought Lakeside Skillet would take care of that, but I was sadly mistaken. This place looks like it would be a cute little spot from the outside, but the decor inside is really unappealing. There's CARPET on the floor - something that really makes me cringe about carpet in restaurants - I can't concentrate on anything else except thinking how much food and particles and gross germs and bacteria could be lingering within its fibers. And to make it worse, it's an anchor-pattered carpet, making it wayyy too busy. The service is OK, the food - not so much. I've gotten the cheesesteak sandwich before and it was SO greasy. Like, drip-down-your-hands greasy. I've also had the spinach artichoke dip, which was more like cream of spinach soup with no artichokes in it, served with disgustingly salty tortilla chips. Honestly, as much as this place has a great location for being on the lake, it really doesn't even matter since there's no view of the lake from the dining room. The trip out here isn't worth it - there's plenty of other places in the Back Mountain area to spend your time and money. read more

We go here almost every Saturday morning for breakfast or brunch. Very good service, good comfort food. Only once did I have to wait a while once seated and that was Mother's Day. It was nuts here that day. Eggs, pancakes, scramblers are all good. Lunches are good too. For dinner, I'd skip the steaks, but the rest is good. I recommend it. read more

We've been going there for years. Weekend after weekend. We go today and I decide I want lunch instead of breakfast for a change. I get a tuna melt. The tuna melt has no cheese on it. I'm not in the habit of inspecting my food at first sight and I was very hungry and I ate the first half and was pretty disappointed in it and decided to further investigate what was wrong with this tuna melt. I said to my fellow diners it just tasted like a lot of tuna. I opened up the second half only to find out the problem was there was absolutely no cheese. None. So I tell the waitress and I asked and they please take it off the bill. It was dark meat tuna. It was cold. And it had no cheese. I didn't complain about the dark meat tuna. I didn't complain about it being cold. I just complained about the unbelievable lack of cheese. The waitress came back and she said that the owner made the sandwich and that he said he put cheese on it and that they would not take it off the bill. I said, here's the sandwich. You can take it back to the kitchen and show him that it has no cheese on it. We sat and we sat and we sat and we sat and we sat and we waited for someone to come over to the table. We must have waited 15 minutes. Finally the other owner, the wife of the chef, came over to the table and with a lot of attitude told us that she took the tuna melt off the bill but that it did in fact have cheese on it. Now I don't know about you but the presence of or lack of cheese is not a debatable thing. Something either has cheese on it or it doesn't. And this sandwich matter of factly did not have cheese. There was no cheese. There were two other people at my table. We all looked at the sandwich. We all agreed there was no cheese. And at this point I don't have the sandwich with me. I gave it back to the waitress. I can't pull it apart and show the owner that there's no cheese. They took that away and I had no proof. This woman doubled down and said why would their chef make a tuna melt without cheese? Well I mean that's the question of the day right? My question is why would I send a sandwich back complaining that it had no cheese on it if it actually had cheese on it? The whole conversation was literally insane. It was Insanity level craziness to talk about the existence of cheese on a sandwich. I mean it's either there or it isn't and it absolutely wasn't so instead of just saying nicely oh I'm sorry that this sandwich wasn't up to our normal standards and that you are unhappy with the quality of the sandwich. We will certainly take that off the bill not a problem. This isn't our normal work. I hope you'll give us another chance. They came over to the table with a terrible attitude to people who are repeat customers of their restaurant and made everything difficult and uncomfortable and argumentative and actually practically nasty. I am posting this so that the owner sees it and maybe thinks for a second about the insanity of this situation. That sandwich did not have cheese on it and that you could come over to the table and argue that it did is literally insane. I would like you to succeed. I would like Lakeside Skillet to continue to be a restaurant in Harveys Lake and do well and thrive. But if you continue to treat your customers like this I don't see how that's going to happen. read more

Made the mistake of ordering the sausage gravy and biscuits, it was terrible. The sausage was not right, and the spices were out of place. In addition, the service was terrible. The waitress could not be bothered with our satisfaction after the food was served. Yes, there was an obligatory "how is everything" as she sped past the table, but she did not care to get an answer. Oh yeah, who puts whipped margarine on waffles?! I will never return. read more

My family and I recently visited Harvey's Lake for the first time in many years. We rented a house on the lake and walked to "The Skillet" everyday for breakfast. The food was great. We love to eat breakfast out and rarely have a chance unless we are on vacation. The Skillet hit the spot. The food was fresh, hot, reasonably priced and good size portions. The staff was amazing, attentive and friendly. The servers: Margo, Mimi, and Evonne were friendly and told us about the homecoming events at the lake. A heart felt THANK YOU for your great food, service and info on the local events. It made our trip. We will be back next year!!!!!!!!!!Maybe sooner read more

The service at this establishment is the worst service I've had in a long time. Standard breakfast fare shouldn't be that difficult, but unfortunately not the case here. It took 10 minutes before being approached by a server for coffee, and when we received our orders the server had them all wrong. Not to mention the crab meat in the crab omelette smelled as if it was weeks old. I can appreciate when a server makes a mistake with an order that they admit to a mistake and when an establishment serves inadequate food they should correct the issue. Not the case. We will not return and hope that others avoid this establishment in the future. read more

Horrible service. Dinner was not cooked the way it was advertised or seasoned. The salad with a 2.50 up charge was dressing and croutons like a toddler prepared it. The manager was "at the store" which was why we waited 30 mins for it to be removed from our bill. Which, the manager never even came around to apologize for the shitty service and food. Being a local so close I could walk there, I will no longer go there and will also instruct every person I know or run into not to entertain a half assed meal at this establishment. One word: carpeting. Can you imagine what has been spilled into that carpet over the years? Food is average at best. Service is poor. Orders are consistently wrong. I haven't had a waitress look at me once while I was ordering. Decor is outdated and looks more like a boat rental establishment than a restaurant. Hit up Grotto Pizza instead. read more

This is a cute restaurant on a beautiful lake in the mountains of northeastern PA. The interior could use some updating but the pictures on the walls are fun to look at. My kids and I walk to the Skillet whenever we are visiting the lake. Most of the waitresses are very pleasant but there are a number that are very in attentive, even when things aren't very busy. Food is very good - burgers, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, BLTs.... I've had a lot of the selections through the years and usually leave happy with my meal. read more

Food is very good and I'm never disappointed when I stop in for lunch. I did go for breakfast once but I wasn't too impressed with their pancakes as they are very thick and dense. If you're into that, you'll love it. My favorite thing to get there during lunch are the sandwiches (especially the blt club), seafood chowder, French onion soup, and the fries, all of which come out piping hot. The reason I didn't give a 5 is because the service is horrible 90% of the time and they try to make up for it after you get pretty irritated. Been there many times and we've only had a good waitress once. So lucky the food is good. read more
