Many years ago, at a convention, Jose' Ebar, Palm Desert, cut and styled my hair and although it was done well ($400 in the 90's), the other attendees and I left his studio with a similar cut, style and color. Not so with Sandy! I recently had lunch with 4 friends whose hair each looked striking and which enhanced our own characteristics. It's truly a gift and Sandy has it. Another, less mentioned but not less important quality is that she is trustworthy and encouraging, remembering details and asking about other aspects of your life, then often offering ideas that improve the quality of it. Sandy is a gem and although challenging to get in with initially, once she gets to know you, she pre books for future appts, as many as 3 ahead to keep you on a schedule. The location, between Maple and Ash on Gardner, makes it a snap to get downtown or back up to the South Hill. I have gone to her for 5 yrs. and knowing her has definitely increased the quality of my life. She is worth the wait to get an appointment. Surprisingly for someone of her ability, she is also reasonably priced. If you call and don't get in right away, keep calling, it's worth the effort and wait.

My regular salon closed during covid so I had to find a new one. Was looking for a gentle perm and cut... only a couple places in town even do perms ‍. Kayla got me right in within a couple days and she did an amazing job! So hard to trust new stylists but she made sure to talk everything through with me before doing anything (which is surprisingly hard to find!). She did a really cute perm with two different size rods and alternating directions in order to make it look natural and cut it to a pixie style exactly how I wanted. She was thorough and very gentle on my hair, which I appreciated since I just had a baby 4 months ago and am currently in the "shedding" phase. Go see Kayla, you won't regret it!

Myra offered to fix it and I initially rescheduled with her, but after thinking about it, I texted her and asked her to be $100 percent honest if she thought she could fix it and she never responded. I ended up scheduling for a color correction at a different salon because I can't trust this girl. I left a message on the Salon retro site to Kathy (I believe she's the owner) and got no response, so I called the Salon and Kathy answered. She said "Myra said you loved your hair when she was done" and I told Kathy, Myra didn't style it out. In fact, after thinking about it, I think she did that on purpose because she knew it was a sloppy job and she was ripping me off, but she told me the reason she wasn't styling it out was because she already did a lot to my hair and didn't want to overdo it. I should have known right then and there she was full of s#$t, because I have never been to a Salon and paid that kind of money and left without dry, styled hair. If you took the time to read all this, please take my advice and don't risk going to this place. What a waste of time and money. In response to Kathy's comment: ummm... yeah...
