I have been with the company for 18 years. I woke up today with no gas. It's 20ish degrees today mind you. I call Sharp Energy in Georgetown and they said we were on delivery hold and had to pay $239. I paid it immediately. Was then told that I wouldn't receive a delivery now for 5-7 days!! I asked why wasn't I notified and they said I was through automatic phone call to an old number and that it's my responsibility to update the number. I asked to be notified through email for any issues or invoices and I changed/updated my number years ago. I spoke with a Supervisor, Rena White, who basically said there's nothing they could do but possibly charge us an additional $300 for an "off route" delivery. This is how an 18 year customer is treated!!! Shame on you!! No prior issues paying our bill. I pay weekly and if they updated the number in their system properly this would have never happened! Sharp Propane is deplorable. I completely agree with all these many terrible reviews. I bought a property that came with a propane tank and called them to discuss taking up the prior owner's contract. I very quickly decided not to use them based on a terrible impression the woman who spoke with me made during the 7 minute call. I specifically asked her if they were the only game in town, and whether I had to use that company and she said no. I told them I would not be contracting with them, but the woman for some reason allegedly did not note the account. (I have a record of that call and I later told them I would send it to them but they did not seem to want it). The property is rarely used as it's a vacation home and had a full tank so I was in no hurry to find a new company, knowing I had plenty of time. Four months later, they showed up unexpectedly while I was not at the property and filled the tank to the tune of almost $1,000k with no contract with me and with me and no permission to enter my property. Left a bill at the back door in the name of the prior owner (because, of course, I had signed no contract). Rather than just ignoring the bill, I called them to let them know of their error. I spoke with Rena White who told me she is a "supervisor," and she made clear to me I had 3 options. I could get another company to swap their tank with me if the other company would agree (and that depended on the quality of the tank over which I had no control AND I would still have to pay for the unauthrized gas delivery), or Sharp would go dig up my tank and shut off my gas which means no heat (in 28 degree weather) and sure damage to my property unless I paid the bill and signed a contract with them. All happening in freezing weather while I was hours away from the property during a huge snowstorm. NONE of which was disclosed to me four months before. So it appears the game was "forget" to note the account, fill the tank without permission and without a contract, then corner me into bad options at a really bad time, only to finally try to strongarm me into continuing to use them. All because they claim had no "record" of my call four months before - because they did not make a record of it. I made them give me a date by which I needed to find another company because the call was recorded and I had a feeling they might try to cut my heat as threatened very quickly, and SHAGRIN GAS took care of everything for me with a swap and with a customer-oriented approach. DO NOT USE Sharp Propane. Rena White is obnoxious, and was unprofessionally unwilling to accept her company's "mistakes" or even see the proof of my call four months before. She refused to give me contact information for upper management for a complaint. I was not surprised to see so very many absolutely terrible reviews here. read more

This company is not trustworthy.I am in the heating and air business and refer people to them and have done their service work do to them not having quality people to do it. Signed a contract with them and it has no tank rental and now they want to charge 200 a year for that and not give me contractors prices for my gas. when I have called them they said they could do that have been going back and forth with them for about 5 months with nothing, they came out and discounted my gas with no call or warning. Call around and you will find they are charging 3 times the amount for tank rental compared to others. read more

Customer service has been really bad. It's a challenge even getting in touch with them. I recently got a new credit card and wanted to let them know the expiration date changed, but when I called I was connected to their automated voice system. It gave me the option to get a call back (rather than wait in line), and since it said I wouldn't lose my place in the cue I chose that option. A couple days now and still have not received a call back. Not the first time. There have been past issues too, but too much to describe in this post. I don't normally post reviews but I'm hoping it serves as a wake-up call to Sharp. read more

This company is extremely deceitful in its business practices. I tried many times to resolve my issue through phone calls & e-mails. After the third attempt,someone finally texted me back only to let me know that although morally wrong,there was nothing they could do for me. Overpriced with extremely poor service. There are many other suppliers in the area,I highly recommend seeking out one other than Sharp. Sadly,they are money first,customer second. I find local,smaller suppliers to be much more consumer friendly & professional. read more

I wouldn't even give this company 1 star! They don't help their customers at all and are only out to gouge your pockets. I just ran out of propane--quite easy to do with this antiquated system where you can't even get notifications when it becomes low. I put in an order online--costing about $700! Next I called to see if it would be possible to get the order faster than 5 business days and found out the cost is $225 ADDITIONAL! WHAT? That is ROBBERY! They could care less about their customers welfare. I'll pay for electric heaters before I give the crooks any more hard-earned cash. I feel the propane industry here at the beach knows they got you and are out to get you for every dime they can! read more

I have called Sharp Energy to refill my tank 5 times and was promised the next day or two and over 1 week and no gas. They lie. They are not reputable. I would find another gas company. The price is way too high. It is based on usage!!! read more

Horrible customer service. Just received my bill. Got charged for 2.8 gallons of gas when i hadn't even turned on my furnace as of 10/31/19. Kicker is, when I tried turning my furnace on 11/4/19 it wouldn't turn on. Call a HVAC place and the thermostat was broken and the inducer motor was broken. It didn't get fixed until 11/08/19. How can I use gas when I could't even turn the furnace on? I know its only $6.82 charge, but now its the principal of the point. If they charge 7$ extra to all their customers, do you know what kind of a racket that is? Still battling them. read more

Hands down by far THE WORST customer service available on the easternmost shore. Do you like to smell propane after their servicemen leave and ALSO still have a pilot out too? Were charged for services that we should not have been charged for. Sent a new driver to fill our tank....did not ring doorbell that he was here...he locked tank and was not done right...billed us for having to send someone else to unlock tank that was not locked properly. After MUCH hassle and going to corporate, they finally refunded the wrongful chg. Found another dealer and propane is much cheaper!!! read more
