We just had a whole house generator installed, and this is the company that we used to set up and fill the propane tanks that will power the generator. The initial delivery of the tanks was coordinated by the generator installation company, however, from the day of tank delivery up until now everything has been fantastic. Dennis, the delivery driver who brought, installed, and filled the tanks up was very helpful. He answered all of my questions and took great care to install the tanks in a manner that was safe and in the location that I needed. When dealing with the staff that has handled everything else when I've called, I've been incredibly impressed. I initially spoke to Lynn, who just like Dennis, patiently answered all of my numerous questions. She explained the process of getting us set up with our own account and what to expect for the next steps in the process. Now that everything is up and running, I had the pleasure of speaking to Mary yesterday. Again, Mary was very helpful, professional, but also very friendly and personable. I love supporting locally owned small businesses and I'm so glad this is the company that the generator installation company works with because I could not have picked a better company to service my tanks! If you're looking for a propane company, definitely give them a call. Their prices are reasonable, the service is great, and I have been very pleased already.

Long story short...we finally were able to Purchase the tank from our propane company. Sharp energy was referred to me by a couple of friends. So I gave them a call. I had the pleasure of meeting Richard S. who came out to assess the tank and send us a quote. During his assessment he discovered the tank did not meet industry standards. Fortunately I did not purchase the tank at that point and was able to get the problem solved before I "Bought it" as part of the purchase. Our propane company came out quickly to resolve the issue. A recheck by Sharp found it was still not correct, again our company came out to address it again and again it failed. Richard sent a Sharp tech out who identified a bad grounding site, cleaned it up, retested and this time passed in flying colors! If Sharp is willing to do this before I'm a customer? I can't wait to be one!!! The cost savings is almost staggering between what we were paying vs Sharps pricing. I've got nothing bad to say about our current propane company, they've always been responsive and friendly, but it's nice to know Sharp Energy is too at a lot less money!

I would strongly recommend avoiding Gerner Energy. Our experience with their billing practices and…read moresubsequent customer service was abhorrent, and I would frankly never trust this company with any matter again. We called Gerner on 8/12 regarding a propane leak in the line that goes into our generator. We shut the line off in advance of calling Gerner. We were explicitly told during this call that there was a diagnostic fee of $139 and that the technician would diagnose the problem and Gerner would provide us with a quote BEFORE any repairs were performed. We agreed to a service call on that basis. The technician came to our home same day on 8/12 and was at the house for a little over an hour. He diagnosed the issue and, unknown to us at the time, performed repairs without our knowledge or consent. There were no new parts on the line when we checked it later that day, so naturally we assumed that Gerner was going to provide us with the promised quote and that we would schedule repairs from there. Unfortunately, that did not happen. On 8/17, we received both an invoice and a $417 charge on our card for those repairs. The invoice provided no meaningful explanation or itemization of how Gerner arrived at $417. Even more absurdly, that invoice we received on 8/17 stated our card was to be charged on 8/13. Apparently we were supposed to travel back in time if we wanted an opportunity to question the bill before being charged. We've spoken with Gerner a handful of times and received shifting explanations of what that $417 represents. Initially, we were told that the $139 fee covered an hour and essentially re-triggered as soon as the technician was there for more than an hour. Interesting explanation considering that $417 would imply 3 hours of labor despite the fact that the technician was at our home for roughly an hour. The next explanation was that actually $278 was the "minimum" charge and that this had supposedly been disclosed to us when we originally scheduled the appointment. It was not. Had we been told that the minimum charge was $278, we would not have scheduled the service call in the first place. Not to mention that every explanation we received from the office conveniently failed to address the fundamental issue: we did NOT authorize the repairs in the first place. On Wednesday, 8/19, my husband finally had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Kip Gerner. His proposed resolution was a $50 CREDIT to our account. We told him that this was not a fair resolution and that we wanted a refund. Kip said he would think about it and get back to us. Later that same day, he left a voicemail stating that he was willing to consider a larger credit, but the voicemail ended abruptly. We called Gerner less than 10 minutes after Kip left the voicemail and were told that he was "too busy" to speak with us now and that he would give us a call back later. It is now Friday and we have not heard from him. At this point, the money isn't even the most concerning part. It is the complete lack of trust created by this experience. We agreed to a $139 diagnostic visit after being explicitly told we would receive a quote before repairs. Instead, repairs were performed without a quote or approved price and $417 was charged to our card. When we questioned it, we received changing explanations for the bill, offers of a future account credit instead of an actual refund, and finally a promise from the owner to follow up that he simply did not keep. We gave Gerner multiple opportunities to explain the charge and make this right. They chose not to. If you are considering using Gerner Energy, I would strongly suggest saving yourself the headache and calling someone else.

Generally, we've been satisfied with their work and products, yet we've been allowed to run out of oil unknowingly during cold weather as was just experienced this month (February 2026) which left us without heat. at its lowest, our home registered 44 degrees F! We watch the tank fuel level, but the app indicated we had 12% fuel remaining when the tank was empty. Yikes! Thus 3 stars for Petro - the organization and system. Good News: Dee Dee from Petro in Baltimore County showed up within 24 hours of our call for emergency service. She checked the entire system, dropped 20 gallons of fuel, restarted the furnace and waited until heat was reliably being produced. She was thorough, professional, and tidy. Amazing technician that represented the company well. She deserves 5 stars! So, we've learned to watch the tank gauge more carefully and ask for DeeDee if/when we ever need service again.

I am writing with a second formal complaint regarding Petro's service at my home and to demand…read moreimmediate action to resolve the serious issues caused by your technician's work. On or about [date], my home ran out of heating oil and I was left with no heat. I contacted Petro and was informed that my tank was empty. Petro dispatched a technician to address the no‑heat condition. Your technician stated that he would put approximately 10 gallons of diesel fuel into my system "until my delivery arrived" and then proceeded to run the system. As a direct result of this action, soot was blown through my vents and into my living space. My walls, ceilings, and other surfaces are now covered in soot. I have never used diesel fuel in my tank before and relied entirely on Petro's professional judgment as my fuel provider and service company. Since this incident: My home has visible soot on walls, ceilings, and surfaces. My vents and air ducts have been contaminated and require professional cleaning. Members of my household have begun experiencing symptoms (such as [headaches / coughing / breathing irritation - describe briefly and truthfully]) that started after the soot and fuel exposure. A technician came out on [date] to "assess the problem," but as of today I have not received a clear written explanation or a concrete plan to fully remediate the damage. Because the contamination and damage arose from the actions of Petro's technician while servicing my system, I expect Petro and/or its insurer to take responsibility and promptly cover all reasonable costs to restore my home and protect my health. Specifically, I am demanding that Petro: Pay for a professional cleaning company to thoroughly clean all affected walls, ceilings, and surfaces to remove soot. Pay for professional HVAC and air‑duct cleaning, including cleaning and inspection of the furnace/boiler, flue, and heat exchanger to ensure safe operation. Pay for repair or replacement of any equipment or personal property damaged by soot or by the misuse of diesel fuel. Reimburse any reasonable costs for temporary lodging and alternative heat if a qualified contractor or medical professional determines that my home is unsafe to occupy during remediation. Reimburse the reasonable costs of medical evaluation related to symptoms from this exposure, to the extent covered by your liability insurance. I am in the process of obtaining written estimates from professional cleaning and HVAC companies and will provide copies, along with photos and any medical documentation, upon request. Please confirm the correct mailing or email address for submitting this documentation and the name and contact information of the person handling my claim. This is my second complaint about this matter. The lack of heat and the soot contamination have significantly affected my use and enjoyment of my home and my health. I am asking that Petro open a formal claim, assign it to a specific representative, and provide a written response within 10 business days of receiving this letter, confirming: The claim number and assigned contact person. Whether Petro accepts responsibility for the damage and contamination. The steps you will take, and the timeline, to fully remediate my home and address the costs listed above. If I do not receive a satisfactory written response within 10 business days, I will have no choice but to pursue further remedies, including complaints to state consumer protection authorities, a claim with my homeowners insurance, and consultation with legal counsel regarding recovery of all damages. I prefer to resolve this matter directly and cooperatively with Petro, but I need prompt, serious action to address the damage and health concerns your technician's actions have caused.
