R.I.P. dear Bella and Thank you Dr. Sharp and team.
    Udo M.

OK, first, I had written a fairly good review about Dr Sharp and the clinic. We took our late Bella there very often for treatment due to all kinds of health issues. Unfortunately, and with great sadness, we had to let her go due to the end stage of Cushing's disease. No doubt about it, the staff is and always was a wonderful team. Helpful, kind, and respectful. Even on this painful day. I also thought the same of Dr. Sharp the same way. I always had the impression he had a soft spot for Bella because she was always so cooperative and quiet and well-behaved. We had spent a lot. And I say, a whole lot of money for Bella at this clinic. I don't think I ever left this place without paying under $400.-! First, after we went through this sad day, I felt grateful and thought I owed a great gratitude to Dr Sharp. Until I started to think more clearly, and also started to talk to others who have a lot of experience with vets. And could not believe what I was charged and how the whole process went, and the charge alone for the visit to see the doctor for less than 10 minutes. The day we came in and talked to Dr. Sharp he agreed with us that it was time to help Bella to guide her over the rainbow bridge, as they say, because she was suffering. We talked to him for maybe 3 or 4 minutes. Then he gave her 1 shot. (Normally, they take the animal to the back, prep them, and bring them back with a needle insert already in the vein, so the doctor only has to give the two different injections into it.) But no. He gave her the first shot right there and then. I don't want to go into details. When she was " sleeping," we stood by her to say our goodbye, but then this started to get very uncomfortable because this time became extremely long to the point that it became agonizing for us to go through this stage. This was NOT a normal way to do this. It was not our first time we had to go through something like this. I had to go outside and ask where the doctor was. I was told they wanted to give us enough time. I think he was too busy with other clients. Shortly after he came. He put a rubber band around her leg, gave her that " pink" injection, and it was over, and of course, my spouse and I needed our time at that point. I don't think I need to mention how emotional that was for us. He left, and that was it. All in all, we saw him for maybe less than 10 minutes. After we stayed in the room for a while to say goodbye to our Bella, we had to lift her onto a blanket, because we wanted to take the cushion we brought for her back home with us. Alone, that was something we never had to endure. Now, all this we had to pay over $450!!! He charged us for the visit alone $74!! 2 weeks before that, a visit was only $59!! Those shots cost pennies to him as a vet. I do know that for a fact from several rescue friends I have. So, that procedure alone was over $350! Injections and removal of the body. You think that after bringing in so much money, he might waive the doctor visit. especially in a case like this. But no. He even charged MORE than the visit from the last time. I always had nothing but the best impression and respect for this man. But taking such an advantage of a client visit at a time like this is, in my mind, ruthless. We were even kind enough to bring all of Bella's meds that are worth a lot of money to them to give them to people who might not have enough money out of the goodness of our hearts. Again, the staff is wonderful, and they have no say in this whatsoever. I had my share of disappointments with some vets, but this is something my spouse and I will never forget and forgive. This one star is solely for the reason that I could write a review and to show gratitude to the staff because they deserve one.

I have been with dr. Sharp for 16 years. I drive out of my way when needed for my fur babies. I can't say enough about his demeanor and professionalism. He is kind and has always been right on with all his diagnoses.

Absolutely the best vet! Dr. Sharp started seeing my Penelope when she was experiencing discomfort from allergies. He quickly assessed the symptoms explained to change her diet and off we went adhering to his recommendations she was alleviated of her symptoms. Dr Sharp will be our life long vet. He is caring, patient and is genuinely interested in each patient. I am so happy to have found him and Penelope loves her visits with Dr. Sharp!

I've been bringing my 19-year-old pup here for the last 6 years, and I honestly can't imagine trusting anyone else. Having a senior dog comes with its fair share of challenges, but every time we walk through those doors, Dr. Oh gives me peace of mind. Somehow I always leave thinking, "Okay...my old man is going to be okay." My pup has struggled with seizures for the last three years, and instead of immediately pushing expensive treatments, Dr. Oh recommended natural supplements that have made a huge difference. We went from about two seizures a week to only every several months! Now that my sweet old guy is dealing with doggy dementia, Dr. Oh has continued to be amazing--recommending affordable supplements, giving practical tips to keep him safe at home, and helping me make the best decisions for his quality of life. One thing I appreciate the most? No nickel-and-diming. I never feel pressured into unnecessary tests or treatments. If something isn't needed, he'll tell you. That kind of honesty is hard to find these days, and it means everything when you're caring for a senior pet. The clinic is always clean, and the staff is kind, patient, and genuinely attentive. They make every visit as stress-free as possible. Located on Sherman Way & Van Nuys Blvd, inside the shopping center with Pablo's, Dunkin', and Otto Sushi, with a large parking lot so finding a space is easy. Thank you, Dr. Oh and the entire Van Nuys Pet Clinic team, for helping my old guy enjoy his golden years. You have cared for him like family, and I'll always be grateful.

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!
