Beware, based on my experience, Art of Optiks is a company that literally practices the "art of optics," saying one thing but doing something different. While the primary eye doctor was there supervising, the trainee was incredibly incompetent. What should've been 5mins to run these few tests took over 30. I had to ask multiple times for her to clarify what I was supposed to do during the tests. At one point the trainee even hit my eye with the machine. However the biggest issue was the front office staff - they were quick to complain about any inconvenience. As I in the sitting area waiting, I overheard them complaining about customers and how a certain customer was a "massive headache". Probably not the time and place to be complaining about customers when customers are in earshot! The exam itself went fine. Dr. Olson was quick and pleasant. A little annoyed that I was left sitting around for 25mins during my contact lens check appt only for the doc to spend about 30 seconds checking out my lenses. But that wasn't the Doctor's fault, just poor scheduling. Also, I've never had to come in for a second "contact lens check" appt in my life - complete waste of time. The attitude and behavior of the rest of the office team is not worth coming here. Also beware about ordering contact lenses from their office. I was able to order them online for about $200 cheaper than they were quoting (and got them delivered in 4 days vs 5 weeks that the office was estimating).

When I got the EOB from my insurance & the bill from the doctors - my jaw hit the floor!!! I have gotten my eyes examined at various LensCrafters offices throughout the years and I have NEVER been charged more than $100 for an eye exam (and no, I didn't get a contact lens fitting after they told me the up front cost for that)..Let alone HUNDREDS of dollars!!! and that is after my insurance paid for over $100 of the bill. RIDICULOUS. Additionally, I spent over $700 on glasses next door and they were running a "free exam with purchase" promotion, but apparently that didn't apply?!? I am still trying to work this out with them, but I REFUSE to pay their obscenely inflated price.

The optometrist took extra time to get to know me and learn about my life which was very refreshing. The selection of frames and sunglasses are spot on in terms of variety. Well maintained and trendy office, plus they have snacks! LOL. Very happy with this visit and will return for future appointments. P.S. it's customer appreciation week or month. I don't know any other place (other than Downtown Eyes) that appreciates their customers or patients with goodie bags with wine and chocolate!

I was a longtime patient of Dr. Hansen (10+ years) and always felt I received good care with him. I…read morerecently relocated but was back home visiting family and was having problems with the fit of my glasses, which were purchased elsewhere. A family member suggested I visit St Anthony Eye Clinic because they had also had a pair of purchased-elsewhere glasses adjusted there at no cost. Because I had been a patient for many years, I stopped in and politely asked whether they might be able to help me adjust one of the arms, which was loose, and which I'd been having trouble tightening on my own. The woman who met me at the door was polite and said they'd be happy to help, but the person I spoke with at the optical counter (an older woman with short hair and glasses) rudely rebuffed me, sneeringly saying that they won't touch glasses they didn't sell without a $40 fitting fee. After handling my glasses she shoved them back at me without wiping them off or apologizing for the inconvenience or cost. Ten to twenty dollars I could understand, but to charge a patient of 10+ years $40 to tighten the loose arm on a pair of glasses is extortionate, and the attitude was galling. I was really taken aback by how dismissive and rude this person was. I left the office feeling humiliated and upset. If they couldn't offer the service at a reasonable cost, that's their prerogative, but as a small business working with seemingly locale clientele, a little kindness and basic courtesy would go a long way, and it was disappointing to encounter the lack of it. I wouldn't recommend St. Anthony Optical to anyone after this experience.

Uptown Vision is honest, corrects any lab errors (which is unbelievably common and the bane of every optical business), and offers better prices than the chain stores. In fact, Uptown Vision's prices beat almost everyone in the Twin Cities. Becca, the manager, is a fashion maven who knows what's in style and what fits your face. I am too particular, especially about tints, and Uptown Vision carefully reviews my color choices and shading percentages. Their frame selection is au courant, and they offer Blackfin, Masunaga, Andy Wolf, Maui Jim, and Dita, amongst others. Their optometrist is empathetic, listens, and thorough, plus Uptown Vision accepts most insurance policies. Trust me, it's the way to go in the Twin Cities.

She was very thorough in testing my vision and helping me understand the different lens types to accommodate the presbyopia I've recently started experiencing. I also have dry eyes, which introduces another complication when choosing frames. This clinic is one of the only providers of 7eye frames (for dry eyes) in the twin cities, and Dr. Ko was very patient, taking the time to ensure I understood all of my options before choosing a frame. She also has a wealth of holistic knowledge about dry eyes and was able to provide useful insight around treatments, etc. The entire staff was very kind, friendly, and professional. They're really empathetic and dedicated to providing the best service possible.

Dr. Ristad knew I was almost ready for cataract surgery a year ago. I waited until I was sure it was time and met with Dr. Elliott. Dr. Elliott spent maybe 10 minutes with me. He didn't examine me, nor would he answer my questions. His advice was for me to wait and use my OTC eyedrops more frequently and get my glasses adjusted. Good advice, but these things aren't going to solve my cataract problem. I believe Dr. Elliott doesn't trust his abilities, because he told me that he didn't want to harm me. Why would he say that? Since I met with Dr. Elliott two things have occurred: 1) My eyesight has gotten significantly worse, and 2) I went on two trips where there's snow and sun, which is particularly hard on my eyes. I've since gone to another eye doctor who spent 90 minutes examining my eyes. He said my cataracts are advanced and surgery is definitely warranted. I wanted to avoid writing this review by speaking with a manager at Edina Eye Clinic. I tried twice but was told that it wasn't going to happen.
